Chapter 148 - Chapter 148: Public Apology

Fudge had completely given up; he knew he had lost this game.

Who would have thought that the boy he wanted to use as an example would turn out to be so powerful?

With his own strength, he defeated dozens of Aurors and completely reversed the situation during the Wizengamot trial.

At this moment, Madam Bones looked at Fudge and announced in an official tone.

"According to the Wizengamot's ruling, the Ministry of Magic must take full responsibility for the major mistakes in the Dementor invasion of Hogwarts on November 11th.

And, the Ministry must take full responsibility for the misconduct of its employees in the Ministry Atrium on November 20th, violating the rights of visitors.

The Ministry must punish the persons responsible for the above events within three days and provide adequate compensation to the victims."

"Understood, I will handle this matter," Fudge said with a pale face. He knew everything was settled, and he had no choice but to accept it.

"Very well," Alaric also felt satisfied with this outcome. He looked at Fudge and said lightly, "I will wait for the Ministry's arrangements."

"As for the members of the Wizengamot," Alaric turned his gaze to all the wizards present, and every wizard he looked at shuddered.

"I am satisfied with today's trial. I hope we can have further cooperation in the future."

With his last sentence, he nodded to Amelia Bones, believing she understood his meaning.

After saying this, he snapped his fingers.

After about ten seconds, a purple wand flew in from the entrance and fell into Alaric's hand, seeming to have gone through a long journey.

This flying wand once again caused several exclamations.

Alaric looked at Dumbledore and nodded to him, "Professor, I'm going back to Hogwarts."

Then, he wrapped his cloak around him, flickered, and disappeared from the spot.

With Alaric gone, the atmosphere at the scene immediately eased a lot.

The members of the Wizengamot no longer had to face the threat of such a powerful and promising wizard, which made them feel greatly relieved.

"Dumbledore, your student is truly... promising," an old wizard said with a complicated expression.

"Yes, indeed, there will probably be another figure like you in the wizarding world," another witch sighed.

"No, he won't become like me," Dumbledore shook his head, sighing, "I am a Gryffindor, and he is a typical Ravenclaw."

"He has always pursued knowledge and wisdom, not caring much about justice and evil.

Just like his Animagus form, he is a powerful dragon but has been sleeping all along.

Do you remember Hogwarts motto? "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus" meaning "never tickle a sleeping dragon".

His world is very small; as long as you don't provoke him or the people around him, the dragon won't wake up.

So, even Voldemort can coexist with him peacefully. But we should be grateful that Voldemort did provoke him."

He raised an eyebrow, saying happily, "And indeed, Voldemort provoked him."

After that, he stood up and quickly left the courtroom.

---

Three days later, the Ministry of Magic released new information, shocking all wizards and the media in the wizarding world.

The Ministry publicly admitted that the Dementor invasion incident at Hogwarts in November was a major mistake of the Ministry and was willing to apologize.

And compensate the victims for medical expenses and mental damages incurred by all students.

In addition, four Hogwarts students who protected all students and teachers from the Dementors would be awarded the Order of Merlin, Third Class.

Furthermore, the Ministry mentioned the events of November 20th, where Ministry employees violated the rights of visitors to the Ministry Atrium.

The Ministry publicly apologized to the victims and punished those responsible.

Dolores Umbridge was stripped of all public offices and sentenced to ten years in Azkaban, with a fine.

It was widely understood that spending ten years in Azkaban would likely drive her insane.

Additionally, Delis , the leader of the Auror team, was sentenced to three years in Azkaban and fined.

The other responsible persons were subjected to internal punishment, and the victim, XX (specific name not disclosed), would receive a compensation of up to twenty thousand Galleons.

The media exclaimed, as the Ministry of Magic had deviated from its usual course and disclosed information regarding internal events.

However, while the media tirelessly sought to uncover more facts, the Wizengamot remained silent about the trial on November 20th – after all, nobody wanted to reveal how the Wizengamot had been threatened.

For Alaric, this outcome was generally satisfactory. However, his true gain from this event lay elsewhere.

In fact, Alaric had a request for the Ministry of Magic, specifically regarding the secrets of the Department of Mysteries.

In the wizarding world, the true mysteries of magic were all within the research of the Department of Mysteries.

However, the Department of Mysteries had always adhered to mysticism.

Its employees, known as Unspeakables, kept their work highly confidential.

Only internal personnel and the Minister of Magic had the right to access some of this research.

Of course, Alaric didn't want to become Minister himself, but he could elevate someone else to that position.

And to become Minister, he needed the support of the Wizengamot.

But politicians have always feared power and lacked integrity, so Alaric had a plan for this.

The reason he agreed to go to the Ministry of Magic this time was because it was a good opportunity to expand his influence in the wizarding world.

Indeed, in the Ministry's Atrium and courtroom, he successfully intimidated most members of the Wizengamot with his power, leaving a deep impression on them.

He became a formidable figure in their minds, second only to Dumbledore and Voldemort.

Due to his age, his status in their minds might even be higher. With such an impression, it would be easier for him to interfere in the Ministry of Magic.

Moreover, under his intimidation, Fudge's conspiracy failed.

Of course, there were factors where Fudge was indeed relatively innocent, but the main reason was his own powerful abilities, coupled with Dumbledore's support, leading the Wizengamot to make the right judgment.

After experiencing this failure, Fudge's approval ratings would plummet, and with a little more action, he might be ousted from the position of Minister of Magic.
