Chapter 102 - Chapter 102: Fighting Snape

"Don't worry, he will be ok," Snape said with a wide smile, looking eager.

Alaric remained silent. He calmly bowed to Snape, and they both assumed a dueling posture.

"One, two, three..."

Alaric's reflexes far surpassed Snape's.

He silently cast a disarming spell at Snape, taking advantage of his quick reflexes and the silent spell, gaining a significant advantage.

Just as Snape raised his wand, Alaric's spell shot towards him.

But Snape, being an experienced wizard, calmly used a Shield Charm just in time to block the attack, then immediately countered with a Stunning Spell.

However, Alaric's response to Snape's attack was completely unexpected.

While using his right hand to cast spells with his wand, his left hand casually waved his cloak, effortlessly deflecting Snape's Stunning Spell.

This move astonished everyone.

In reality, for skilled wizards, deflecting an opponent's spell with a wand was a common tactic.

In this move, the Shield Charm was simplified, acting only on the tip of the wand, with a short duration and unable to withstand powerful spells.

However, it was easy to cast and control, allowing proficient wizards to prepare another spell while deflecting the opponent's.

But Alaric took it to another level.

He not only cast spells without a wand using his left hand but also multitasked, simultaneously casting another spell with his right hand.

Surprisingly, Alaric felt an external force strengthening the Shield Charm when he waved his cloak.

It wasn't just a defense against common spells like Stunning and Disarming; it seemed capable of withstanding even more powerful curses.

Soon, he realized the source of this power – it was the dragon's magic resistance bestowed upon him by the Dragon Soul.

Although still immature compared to a true dragon, it was enough to make him invincible in wizard duels.

He decided that he would create a durable and stylish dueling cloak.

The image of waving the cloak to deflect spells looked incredibly cool, and he needed a cloak that would showcase this style.

The battle began with Alaric and Snape exchanging Disarming, Stunning, and Full Body-Bind curses, resembling two cowboys engaged in a shootout with revolvers.

However, Alaric demonstrated superior skills compared to Snape.

He could both attack and defend simultaneously, with his cloak acting as an impenetrable barrier.

Though marked with scorching patterns, the cloak perfectly blocked all of Snape's attacks, leaving imprints on the walls of the hall.

Alaric even attempted to rebound incoming spells, but due to the large angles required for redirection, and considering the defense strength of his cloak, he couldn't accomplish that yet.

However, in a chaotic or surrounded situation, this move would be more effective.

His movements and footwork were more agile than Snape.

He barely dodged spells that didn't aim at his core, effortlessly moving his head, legs, or swaying his body to evade them narrowly.

In the eyes of the onlookers, Alaric appeared as a master effortlessly strolling through a hail of bullets, with spells seeming to barely miss him each time.

"This is a real duel!" They thought.

Compared to their earlier attempts, this was child's play.

Even Professor Flitwick exclaimed, "Alaric's mastery of common wizard dueling spells has reached its peak.

At this rate, even if three Snape's were combined, they couldn't match him."

Surprisingly, Snape, being a professor, was struggling.

With one hand controlling the wand, he had to consider both attack and defense, quickly being overwhelmed by Alaric's constant barrage of spells.

Gradually, Snape started prioritizing defense over offense.

Finally, unable to tolerate his disadvantageous position, he cast another Shield Charm, temporarily stabilizing the situation, then prepared to unleash a powerful explosive curse.

"Confring!"

The red ball of light flew towards Alaric's feet. Snape seemed intent on teaching Alaric a lesson, but Alaric had no intention of surrendering.

His wand traced an upward arc in the air, raising a stone wall on the stage.

"Very adept Transfiguration," remarked Professor McGonagall with satisfaction.

The Explosive Curse hit the stone wall, causing a loud explosion.

The hastily transfigured wall crumbled instantly, but as the dust settled, Snape was surprised to see floating debris surrounding Alaric like a miniature asteroid belt.

Alaric gazed at Snape, giving him a confident smile.

"Volley of Arrows."

In an instant, the floating debris shot towards Snape, resembling a hailstorm of arrows.

Forced to withstand the assault, Snape tried to resist using protective spells. However, the sheer volume of stones overwhelmed him.

Yet, the sheer number of debris was overwhelming.

They continually shot towards Snape from different directions, forcing him to dodge desperately.

The hall's walls bore the marks of countless impacts, and distant wizards shielded their heads from flying stones.

Alaric even attempted to rebound some spells, but due to the large angles required for redirection and the defense strength of his cloak, he couldn't achieve it yet.

Although each stone lacked the power to cause severe harm, the relentless onslaught inflicted continuous pain on Snape.

Despite his efforts to resist, the stones hit him sporadically, making him grimace with discomfort.

Yet, the pain wasn't enough to deter him.

Suddenly, Snape stood upright, no longer attempting to evade or resist. Enduring the pain, he raised his wand towards Alaric, launching a formidable Fiendfyre curse.

A fierce tongue of fire burst from the wand's tip, heading straight for Alaric. In seconds, a wall of fire separated Alaric and Snape, swiftly expanding towards Alaric's position.

The flames roared, creating a blazing inferno that sought to engulf Alaric.
