Selene
The burning rays of the sun were blinding me, light-headed I tried to get up. With my palm covering my eyes, I slid against the fine hot sand, causing me to crawl.
"What is going on?" I asked myself. "Where am I?".
With a significant effort, I opened my eyes, and the moment I did, I regretted it. My face got pale and was flooded with astonishment and fear.
"Holly mother of God," I cried. "How is this even possible?".
Old palm trees outlined dark shades covering the golden sand, making the burning golden mat embracing the ground bearable to the touch. I moved within the shadow to rest. I was watching the wild, angry waves spread their water swiftly over the shore bouncing on the fine damp sand.
I was seeing them but was looking through them with tears in my eyes, reflecting on how I got here.
The two women were giggling.
"What if my mom comes?" one of the girls said,
"Don't worry, we'll just pretend we are working," Selene answered.
I and Clara were having a lot of fun cleaning the undusted attic; they found lots of old, funny things. Things that reminded them of their childhood, or objects that were just very odd-looking. And this "party," as they called it, lasted until the color of the sun became red, and the day transformed into night. In the meantime, Selene was fascinated by an old, golden object covered in shiny stones. A necklace that had this gorgeous, shining jewel as a pendant. I had never seen anything this beautiful. It looked like a live universe was captured and formed this gem. I was fascinated by it. Selene decided to ask her aunt Maria if I could keep it.
Maria was chirping and dancing in the kitchen; I cooked dinner for the two girls cleaning the attic. I was full of joy and energy. Maria was the kind of person who always had a smile on her face, no matter what difficulties I encountered. A strong woman, a fighter. But her smile faded the moment Selene showed her the necklace. Quietly and with a serious face, she spread her hand, waiting for Selene to hand the pendant.
"But why? Why are you getting so angry? It was in the attic; you said we can keep whatever we want!". Selene shouted. Maria's dark eyes turned wild, and her forehead was covered with angry wrinkles and sweat.
"Do I have to say it twice?". Maria shouted back at Selene, "Give me that thing!".
And grabbed the necklace from Selene's hand, throwing it into the burning flame arising from the stove, and now when the gem hit the fire, a blinding red light blazed, and a strong force tossed them aside.
A dark silhouette materialized in the light. Eyes full of abhorrence were piercing Selene. I couldn't move because of the tremendous force he emanated. The presence was unbearable; her whole body was shaking in fear, stapled to the ground. As he was approaching, he slipped a hysterical laugh.
"Found you!"
He said, enthusiastic, full of emotion. He could hardly contain his laugh.
"What was his deal?!" Selene thought, forcing herself to glance at him.
"So this is where you were all this time."
He raised her chin to look at her face. Shining golden eyes were slowly consumed by darkness and became pitch black making me quiver. His grip became tighter around her chin, pulling her closer to his face, and he whispered:
"After twenty years of search, you are finally mine."
"The hell she is!" Maria's voice came from behind.
I hit his head with a metal chair, causing him to drop on the side, freeing Selene."
"Run, Selene, run! Hide, so he will never find you! Don't let him have y...!" But she couldn't continue the phrase, as her heart was pierced with sharp claws, and blood came through her mouth. He pulled his hand out, and she collapsed on the cold ground, coughing blood and having difficulty breathing.
"MARIA!!" "No, no!" Selene cried with tears in her eyes as I crawled toward her.
"R..u..n.!" "Don't come back!" and with the last of her strength, Maria flared a portal that stank Selene inside.
"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you," Maria whispered with tears in her eyes, giving her last breath.
I awoke, hoping everything was a dream. My scalp was burning, the rays of the sun were striking my head like a whip, my white dress dancing with the wind was soiled, and my red shoes were filled with sand, stinging my feet. Holding the shoes in my hand, I moved to the beach, and when the dancing wave smashed into my slim figure, I felt refreshed; I ought that; I ought to pull myself together and find that man.
My long hair shaded like the moon became damp, and unruly curls grew out of nowhere. My emerald eyes were burning; the salty water made them turn red. I rubbed them with my hands, but it stung even harder, and then I rose, I was set to get revenge, no matter what, and I was determined not to cry. One way or another, I will kill the monster that killed Maria, no matter what it takes and how long, with the price of my own life.

The sea was too calm, and I was bored; I yawned and stretched my body, placing my palms behind the back of my head, making myself comfortable. A kitten came and sat on my abdomen, digging her paws into my flesh, and began to purr. I never imagined that I would grow to love this bizarre creature. Her odd appearance fascinated the eyes of wicked people attempting to do business by selling her. However, they wanted to kill her once they learned about her powers humans were too frightened to buy such a weird beast. So, I rescued her and brought her in; I needed a cat anyway. Mice were everywhere on this ship. But she was more helpful than that; she had magic powers, could control fire, and her intellect was much higher than an ordinary cat's; she understood and listened. But a human would never be able to live with a demon. They are limited and their minds narrow. When the previous king of Farah decided to unify the demon kingdom and the human kingdom by marrying a mortal woman, everyone was against it. Still, somehow things turned out to be well in the end until the current king started to rule and divide them again. Since then, things have gotten tough, perhaps even harder than before. Especially for half-human hybrids and minor demons like Maya, which had valuable, elegant fur. Anyway, I didn't have time to think about this, I had a mission, and they needed to hurry before something terrible happened. The tremendous power that emanated from that deserted island had to be, what I searched my entire adult life.

I was beginning to get tired; the crimson glow of the sky was reflecting on the troubled sea. The scenery was lovely, and I would have appreciated the picture even more if the circumstances were appropriate, but momentarily, I only had one goal, to find human life. After several hours of wandering on the island, only to discover that the island was deserted, I found meself resting on a rock. I was hungry, hopeless, and discouraged, and began to believe that I was going to die, and just then, my hopes came back to life when I saw a light at the end of the cliff. Gathering all the courage I had in me, I sprang on the stones and escalated them. The sea seemed out of control, bumping into the rocks with killing waves. I was terrified of water, I had no idea how to swim, but I had to cross over those rocks to find help. Me feet were aching, I walked barefoot for hours, and my high-heeled shoes were not helping. I nearly fell a few times. However, it did not stop me. And I only had a little bit left. I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully, I will be saved.
I wasn't fantasizing, I thought. It was a boat; I was saved! Praising meself for finding it, I ran until I thought my lungs were going to explode, out of breath, my mouth managed to say a petty "Hello" and later when I got a grip of my breath I shouted, "Anybody there?" and then repeatedly "Hello!?". After a few minutes, I saw a man coming out on the deck.
"What the hell ya' want?". The man spoke.
"Please, mister, I am lost. Can you explain to me where am I? Or how can I get to a city?".
The man laughed.
"City? There is no city here. This island has been deserted since the great war".
My face got dark. I gulped.
"But then, can you take me to a city?"
"Do you have money?"
"No,"
I could see another man coming out.
"Of course, you can come with us; we are headed to Farah, the greatest kingdom in the world!"
"Farah?"I was obviously not in the world I knew. The men gave me creeps. The first man opened his mouth to object, but the other one told him something and then said:
"Soon, you are going to meet our ca'tain," he smiled showing he was missing his two front teeth.
"The cap' will be pleased," the other individual said,
"She will cost a bundle." And both started laughing.
As soon as I realized it, I took a few steps back.
"I..I.. think I'm fine" I turned around and started running. But I didn't get far. A striking pain overwhelmed my head and then I saw black.
The striking pain in the back of my head was pulsating with ardor. I open my eyes, expecting to see my room, but instead, I felt the coldness of the pitch-black cell I was held in. I jump on my feet, remembering, crying for help. I grab the cold metallic bars and lean onto them, trying to move them, break them, and reach the gentle light coming from a small hole in the ceiling, emanating the warm, silver colors of the moon. They won't budge. Tears overflow my eyes and gently fall on my cheeks, as desperation takes over me. My world is falling apart, everything I loved, and respected disappeared, Maria had died, and I'm left alone, in this bizarre place, no one knows me, hell I don't even know who I am, and I'm a prisoner, I'm probably going to be sold, or raped.
I hear footsteps coming towards me, two men speaking.
"Are you sure it's her?" a deep, husky voice.
