Chapter 1 - Prologue

A veil of mystery has descended upon our quiet community with the disappearance of 19-year-old First year Civil Engineering student, Yeshua Niobe. As the sun dipped below the horizon on Tuesday evening, so did Yeshua, leaving behind an air of intrigue that now shrouds our once-unassuming town.

Details surrounding Yeshua's sudden vanishing act did fleet with no trace left behind, adding a layer of awe to the unfolding drama. According to the Niobe family, Yeshua couldn't be found, and the Niobe family was sure he hadn't left the house. They believed he was in his room before he disappeared.

The Niobe family already reached out to the extent of Yeshua's friends and peers, but unfortunately, he wasn't found in anyone.

Now burdened by misery, the Niobe family holds a labor of hopeless desire, whispering for empathy and mercy to those willing to listen.

Authorities, tight-lipped and seemingly confounded, have launched an investigation into the perplexing case. Officer Severino Diaz, in a cryptic statement, acknowledged the unusual circumstances surrounding 's disappearance, urging the public to be vigilant and report any peculiar sightings or oddities that might unravel the mystery.

Rumors swirl through the community like ghostly apparitions, each one contributing to the riddle of Yeshua's whereabouts:

"That kid was just probably probably rebellious and want to live off alone."

"I know that boy... he was so kind that maybe he got ruptured by The One Above All... bless him wherever he is right now..."

"His body's probably shred to bits and thrown everywhere, this case has been pressing weight on us and there are better things to pay attention to. We should be more concern about serious matters, rather than caring about some arrogant ass ungrateful rebellious teenagers."

"Maybe he had a conflict with a schoolmate and had him kidnapped. But I hope they find him soon..."

"Disappearing in such a fleet without a trace, that's just impossible. Something's going on here."

And many more local residents have been sharing their thoughts. Was it a clandestine escape, a yearning for liberty, or perhaps something more sinister lurking in the shadows?

The local park, once a haven of laughter and joy, now stands as a haunting backdrop to the mystery, with the swings swaying gently in the wind, seemingly dancing to an unknown rhythm.

As the community grapples with this case, one question lingers in the collective consciousness: Where is Yeshua Niobe, and what secrets could drive him to vanish into the night? Uncertainty shrouds the answers, leaving the town suspended in an uneasy anticipation of revelation.

___

Yeshua's POV

"In a matter of life or death, do whatever it takes for survival, no mercy is bound."

I feel like I've got less weight on my back after reading the last sentence of this novel. I only feel like reading it from the beginning since it has a tons of good reviews, saying how well-written it is. Coincidentally the protagonist and I exactly have the same name, so I just think I had to push through because what are the odds?

Seriously though, I thought this was the kind of cry-me-a-river-kind-of-romance but it wasn't! It wasn't even romance at all, but I do get the hint of "Romance" readers were implying but wasn't really to some extent of being companions. Besides, that protagonist's companion even betrayed him near the end.

The reviews aren't even that close to the whole point of the story at all. What has gotten me into reading this book was these reviews:

[  ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

tanghulu06: my tuways pookies are happily married and bought a huge lot to plant a field of sunflower outside the world of code 7 :(  ]

[ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

iloveYY:

"How are you feeling?"

"Tuways"

"Get well soon." ]

[ ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆

tls123: 4 stars because im leaving a room for tuways because code 7 couldn't ]

The "Tuways" pseudonym is widely used inside the fandom since it signifies the first letters of the both main character and his companion: Yeshua and Yves.

I can't really trust book recommendations from teenagers nowadays who only has selective genre focus. It was a good read, regardless, but dystopian with a hint of bromance isn't my cup of tea. I just didn't like how the readers misled me and I expected it to serve me tragic romance. Don't get me wrong, I just have an unexplainable obsession with angst that is why I did continue reading it.

There is no denying how well-written it is. I got curious who the author was, the chemistry between the protagonist and his companion was exceptional, they probably know what they were cooking with the two.

I closed the book and looked up the author's name on my phone. My face was dumbfounded when the information about the author appears, how come the author is only 17-year-old?! There aren't that much information provided about the author, other than their pen name "Maria," and their only work that I just finished, Code 7. But for a 17-year-old? That work was impressive.

How unfortunate, I would've actually try to swing with different genre if they were the author, but they only had a single work.

However, I still tried to further look for any information, at least an announcement for Code 7 sequel is enough.

To be fair even though the book was well-written, still the relevance of the title from the story wasn't stated enough. I don't know if the author was trying to come up with a system-kind-of-title to lead the readers.

I've been scrolling for like half an hour and haven't seen anything imporant, until I stumbled to an odd article.

I've seen many articles stating that the author is nowhere possible to be reached, and there is not a single announcement regarding the sequel of Code 7 from the author since the day it was released.

But this one article says otherwise.

[ Code 7: Reimagine | Maria, the author of Code 7, said that they no longer has plans of writing a sequel. However… see more ]

No longer has plans…? How could they possibly leave us hanging with the ending? I need to know more about the world of Code 7.

I didn't think of anything strange when I thought of clicking the see more, maybe it could be something implied about the story.

[ Maria wants to retell the story, with you. ]
