What a beautiful day this happens to be for Adriana. Maybe God has plans that will only unfold after she leaves Tim. She puts on her long black skirt that is cut from the tip to her upper thigh. She puts on a white turtleneck sweater and then she puts on her black long sleeves jacket matching it up with a pair of black heels. She puts on a bit of make up and a piece of matching earrings and necklace. She walks out her house with her cross bag. She takes a taxi and makes it to work on time.
"Welcome Adriana. The boss is waiting for you in his office." Hillary the lobby girl says as Adriana walks towards the elevator. Adriana stops in her tracks the moment she heard that the boss wanted to meet her.
"Why does he want to see me?" She asks worriedly.
"Well, I don't know. Get to him first." Hillary says and Adriana sighs stressfully then proceeds to taking the elevator to the top part of the company. She gets to the hallway and walks towards his office. She exhales deeply then she knocks on the door.
"Come in." Her boss says. She opens the door and walks in then closes it behind her. She walks towards him and stops five feet to his large office desk. His face was buried in a couple of files that he's working on. The view gives him a mysterious look but Adriana was scared for one reason. Her boss Damon Wayans isn't someone who workers could meet as they please. Most times they don't even know when he leaves and when he resumes in the morning. She only meets with him once in a year to finalize all their new designs by the beginning of the year. She has been working for him for three years now so they've only met three times but since meeting him for the second time in one year then that makes four times. Adriana blinks profusely and gathers the courage to speak.
"Good morning boss." She says with a thin smile and gradually. Damon lifts up his head and makes eye contact with her. He gives her a short smile and then signals for her to sit. Adriana makes herself comfortable and sits.
"It's good to have such an hardworking and distinguished worker here. I must say, it's an honor." Damon says and Adriana swallow her saliva hardly wondering what was going on.
"Oh.." she says faintly.
"The truth is I just had time for my workers since your last project was a success. I think I should take you under my wings. Your previous designs are top notch. I don't want to lose a talent. What do you think?" Damon asks with his brow raised.
"I'm sorry sir... But I don't quite follow.." Adriana says shyly.
"What I mean is work in my office, with me. I'll supervise your works and introduce you to the new world of designs. And it's a great opportunity. My PA just resigned. What do you say, can you fill that missing place." Damon says and Adriana's heart skips a beat for a reason she can't quite fathom. Asking her to fill in as his PA sounds very unpleasant. It was a wonderful opportunity to sore above her mate but she was scared. Her heart is still fragile. "Boss... I don't know what to say." She says
"Just say yes." Damon says with a daring smile as he leans back into his chair and twirls his pen in his left hand.
"Thank you so much sir, I really appreciate your kindness. I really needed something new to distract me and you just gave me me sir. Thank you once again sir." Adriana says and Damon drops his pen on his table. He places his elbows on his desk and place his chin on his knuckles.
"I'll be looking forward to working with you as from tomorrow." Damon says and Adriana gets up and smiles widely.
"Thank you sir." She says.
"Please, help yourself out." He says In a respectable manner and Adriana walks out happily. Designing wasn't her dream from the Start but it became her's when her brother died. Studying beside her boss will provide a lot of resources like connection, ideas and quick opportunity for her.
Adriana walks to her own desk and a work mate of hers creeps to her side.
"What's wrong? You weren't around last week. I thought you quit." She says. Adriana wonders for a while. She thought everyone on her team were given the one week holiday and a bonus. 'could it have been just me?' Adriana thinks. If she mentions this Mary will surely spread a rumor that she's dating the higher ups so she decides to keep it in.
"Oh... That! I asked for some days off for personal reasons. But why didn't you bother calling if you were so worried?" Adriana says and Mary blinks profusely then clears her throat. "Well, just because..." Mary says and she drags her feet back to her seat. 'i knew she came to gossip.' Adriana shakes her head negatively and begins to look through her things. She opens her monitor and goes through her last files. She checks up her own designs and discovers that they were flawless. Maybe Damon was right. She has always doubted herself and think that she's just a substitute in this world for her brother. But hearing such remarks from someone as influential as Damon. She smiles thinking about how he said he didn't want to lose her talent. This new job of hers is really going to help distract her from love and intimate relationship.
