Looking at the clock, Bliss yawned and set the phone on the bed next to her. Dejected, she stretched her slendar arms in the air, an hour and not one significant insight into Vampires.
Listening to her stomach rumble she realized she hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch. She had been running on pure adrenaline since last night. The crew should be on break now so I can go to the kitchen to find something to eat. When Gwen Gowan the Celebrity Chef starts cooking that is when filming in the kitchen begins.
Bliss pulled the red and white quilt up to cover Mandy's exposed neck and marveled at how the naive fool was oblivious to her surroundings. Any one of the pesky Vampires here could swoop into the room and take a nibble or worse.
Slipping on her tennis shoes, Bliss grimaced because her tender feet were still slightly swollen and sore. She tied the laces loosely and thought about just wearing slippers. But figured if she needed to run again these would be better. She stood up and ran her fingers through her hair, who knows what this night will bring. I definitely don't plan on sleeping that's for sure.
Lazily walking down the hallway she was happy that I didn't encounter any of the other participants. I don't feel like listening to their chirping, my brain needs a rest. She took the band from around her wrist and tied her long hair up into a high ponytail and zipped up the jacket all the way to her chin.
When she arrived downstairs s saw one of the crew members she knew. They worked together on a TV drama in which Bliss had a very..very small non speaking part in last year. He was eating a chicken drumstick and Bliss drooled spotting a KFC bucket.
He looked up and licked his fingers then waved, Bliss was ecstatic thinking he would offer her a piece of chicken. She smiled brightly and hurried over, "Hey Louie, how's it going?"
He gnawed on the chicken bone and tossed it into the..ahhh..damn..the empty red and white bucket with the Colonel's face on it. "Little Bliss, I heard you were on the show but didn't see you." I couldn't look at the specks of breaded chicken on his greasy chin so I handed him a napkin from a stack next to a large orange and white thermos.
"Well, I didn't think I was the right fit for a Bachelor show, so I left but my agent forced me to come back."
"Oh, Big Berta, I saw her leaving earlier. You didn't miss much air time. There was so much fighting going on between the women we couldn't film. One or two catfights makes it interesting but no one wants to see petty bickering. Finally the Director had enough, sent those crazy women to reflect."
Hmmm... Louie is a gossipy guy. I should find out about the men. "Were the Bachelors there? What are they like?"
"Yeah, that is where the arguing began, where to sit. There were two couches facing each other. The Director wanted the women on one side facing the men.But the women kept complaining about the lighting, the angle..the this... the that..you name it they found a problem. The men looked disgusted and arbitrarily got up and left."
"So you didn't get to see what their personalities were like?"
"No. The Director decided tonight the Celebrity Chef is going to cook. He thought sitting around the dining table would be a more relaxed atmosphere."
"Makes sense. Do you think it would be alright for me to go to the kitchen and get something to eat now?
"I don't see why not." He patted his bulging belly, "Grab me a soda while you are in there ok?"
"Sure."
Bliss walked through a formal dining room to the door to the kitchen. What struck her most was that the kitchen was sparkling as though it had never been used. Usually a kitchen will have a lingering smell or some hint of being human touch an appliance on the counter slight askew or a dish towel. Maybe Vampires don't eat.
She opened the refrigerator, assuming if Gwen Gowan was going to cook there would be food in there. Bliss took out some vegetables and looked in the cupboard for rice or noodles. She didn't touch the meat assuming it was meant for the group dinner.
She found a bag of noodles and started a pot of water. Making herself at home she opened a drawer and took out a knife. After washing the vegetables she began to slice them, she was methodically chopping an onion when a loud and annoyed shrill voice startled her. "What are you doing!"
Bliss' hand holding the knife slipped and she cut my finger, "Owww."
Out of nowhere Luka appeared and behind him two handsome men, a blonde and a man with fiery red hair. He growled at the two men approaching Bliss and without warning put my bloody finger into his mouth.
The Celebrity Chef didn't have time to react before Luka stared at her with demon like red eyes and she fainted onto the floor. Bliss was in shock and when she recovered she tried to pull her finger Luka was happily sucking out of his mouth. Bliss changed my mind when I saw the blonde and the redhead staring at me with red eyes and their fterrifyingly long and shiny fangs bared. Vampires!
Luka pulled me into his arms and embraced me as he continued to suck on my finger. Bliss didn't feel any pain but was mesmerized as crimson red blood dripped out of his mouth onto his chin. It was hard for her take her eyes off his lips coated in her blood. She had a burning heat in her body and wanted wanted to kiss him. I wanted to kiss him badly. I wanted him to touch me... I... want to bang my head on the wall to rid myself of this crazy longing for him. Damn! Am I under some sort of Vampire spell?!?
When he took my finger out of his mouth he tenderly kissed the tip. I pulled my finger away in disbelief. I saw the cut when I sliced my finger,it was deep... to the bone. Now there was no trace, only drops of his saliva on my finger.
The blonde Vampire's eyes had returned to normal and he retracted his fangs. He patted Luka on the back, "Luka, your brother said one of the humans...well...you have a special feeling for her and I didn't believe it. Seems to be true. But you know Francesca will never let you keep the tiny little human. "
The redheaded Vampire chimed in, "Better to give the little human to us. Once she is passed around and we all have a taste, Francesca might not mind. It is the exclusivity she won't tolerate."
Luka had the blonde by the throat while holding the other man by his tie restraining him. Bliss stood motionlessly trying to digest what the blonde Vampire said. Who is Francesca? Luka's wife maybe? The black silk nightgown was hers? I don't know why but I didn't like the thought that I was wearing another woman's.. his wife's sexy nightgown. Of course, why would he have a woman's nightgown in his room in the first place?
The blonde Vampire's blue veins on his neck were bulging and his face was contorted in pain. Luka's terrifying voice was low and full of venom. "Are you forgetting who the King is? Did my brother forget? Have I been too lenient? Take this as a warning. I will kill anyone who touches my woman. Do I make myself clear?" He threw the six foot tall man...rather Vampire like a ragdoll across the kitchen into the wall.
Luka then turned to the redheaded Vampire. His voice had a domineering tone and his aura blackened as he held the man by his throat. "Francesca is not my Queen and never will be. You tell your sister I will annihilate your entire clan if she harms a hair on Bliss Quinn's head."
He dropped the gasping Vampire to the floor then hugged Bliss. As he brushed her loose strands hair behind her ear, his voice was gentle as he pressed his lips on her ear. "Did I scare you?"
Bliss didn't answer. I want to say I actually thought that was amazing but I didn't want him to think that was an invitation to snack on my neck he was presently licking. The biggest takeaway for me was that Luka Lenovich was the King... wow... and so powerful, neither of those two Vampires looked weak.
Bliss' emotions were too chaotic. She really was beginning to think Luka cast a bewitchment spell on her. How did I switch from hating him to right now I want him to well...She bit my lower lip... Bliss..don't even think about it.
She decided to distract Luka because if he kept gently kissing and sucking on her neck I was afraid I would get more than a hickey. She restrained the urge to moan instead pointed to the woman sprawled on the floor by the stove., "What about the Celebrity Chef?"
He looked at the redheaded Vampire, "Carry her to the couch in the living room."
Luka turned off the noodles that were boiling over. "If you were hungry why didn't you tell the cook."
"I didn't think there was one. I thought the kitchen was just for show. It looked so spotless and unused."
He flicked me on the forehead, "Stupid. Of course it is clean. Should the Cook leave dishes in the sink or a mess?"
"Well, I thought Vampires didn't eat, you know...just drank blood."
"I enjoy eating, although it isn't necessary. And blood I think you misunderstood. I am a Purebred Vampire and have through the centuries been able to curb my blood lust."
"If that is true why do I feel like you want to devour me?"
He looked at the cute expression and kissed her forehead, "I do want to devour you, but not in the way you think. Your blood is sweet, very sweet and I like you. You said you are Buddhist and believe in reincarnation. Maybe we were lovers in another lifetime."
My stomach was rumbling again and Luka said, " Sit. I will make you a dish I learned in Tuscany."
