Chapter 43 - Maneuver

"Someone got into Anthargod's harbor"Sheba reported after appearing before one of the Chief sorcerors of Delvin.

The demon barely a feet taller than her with black long hair trailing behind him and black beards cut in a triangular fashion reaching his chest. Most male sorcerors left their beards this way, some even took it to be a sorceror's inspiration.

Lord Hart raised his head from the tons of portion he was mixing and eyed her.

"What do you mean?"

"Come with me,I have something to show you"Sheba said and disappeared, appearing once again in front of the door to the harbor with Lord Hart behind her.

She took out an old key, opened the door and went in,after which she walked straight to the closed rectangular-shaped passageway, squated and pointed at it.

I was here yesterday at noon and percieved a faint smell of blood, too faint I can't connect to who it was and now the smell is gone.Apparently, this Demon was smart enough to erase both his scent and the scent of his blood from here...It appears I got here not too long after he left"Sheba's pale face studied the rectangular stone on the opening."This tight narrow opening down here shows this place was opened up".

"This was not done by no ordinary demon,it's evident. He must have teleported _"

"Not possible!...I checked with all the keepers and bearers of the key here and not one of them were attacked".

"Maybe the key was given him by one of them"

Sheba shook her head.

"They all let me use the confession spell on them to prove their Innocence".

Lord Hart consided this for a moment, placing a hand under his chin as Sheba watched him closely yet she didn't know why she felt he famed this reaction or was it just her wild imagination playing on her?

"This is by no doubt the work of a powerful Demon".

"They are many demons in the realm powerful enough to do that but how dey learnt of Anthargod's harbour is most alarming".

"Books about this place could still be contained in the imperial library.I Doubt the emperor could get rid of all of them. The books in there will take years to check even with magic spells, probably some other book there mentioned this place". Sheba's lips mumbled through a troubled expression.

"What books or spells went missing?"

"None"came her response"he could have copied them...to make matters worse.Goodness knows how many forbidden spells he got from here".

"Relax Sheba...you might be overreacting, maybe he got just one...and here you let this weigh down your spirit".

"Do you know what disaster just one wrong spell could cause?"

Holding...

Sheba paused and gave Lord Hart a suspicious stare.

Why would her superior say that suddenly...

Apparently the intruder had gone through the floor opening and there was only one spell her heart was fixed on he could have gotten from there...Delu...The Emperor's son...The other spells kept along side Delu were destructive forbidden cursed spells that could weck havoc in Delvin and cause a major disaster.

Lord Hart along with a few high ranking sorcerors knew of the doomsday prophecy, could he be plotting getting rid of the child?

Of cos she would have been thrilled by the idea but sorcerors were never to interfer in the matters of the realm. That would be a serious crime against sorceror city and since the prince is the victim, against the whole empire.Who ever got in here had his purpose. She would have to wait a few days to let him act then would she know the exact spell stolen.

Right now she had to see Tyran, ever bit of her told her Delu was breeched, she had to confirm this.

If so,and after a few days there be no occurrence of a major disaster then, she would investigate Lord Hart herself.

Lord Hart had to shake the sorceress to bring her back to reality.

He had been calling her name for a while now yet her gaze had only remain fixed on the entrance to the secret room.

"Whatever is going on in that head of yours?"

"I just drifted away... something usual for every being".

"Send words to the keepers,we need an alarming spell in here.It will be bonded to each chief sorceror so this must not repeat itself ever again...we can't risk the chaotic spells we have here leaving this place".

Sheba wordlessly walked pass him and out the door as Lord Hart's eye watched her go.

***************************

"This hell dog... Phye is it? he's the coolest thing ever!"An elated Farhat beamed at his friend.

Gaby stared at him quizzidly.

"He...he...i_"

Farhat paused and thought through his next words.

Should he or should he not say it.

It was Gaby's helldog but he discovered it,so he should take credit alone for it he couldn't let Gaby knew about it for he needed the glory all to himself.

"You did what?what happened?".

"Oh! Nothing.."Farhat faked a smile exposing a set of white fangs

"You were saying something"Gaby drew closer to his face and Farhat leaned away immediately.

"I was saying I was wrong to judge this creature...his heart is even second to that of a human_"

"Eeeeeewwww!"Gaby grimaced ."That is disgusting!... couldn't you use a better discription than human?".

"I don't know but he is so.... you know kind? lovely?"

"Hmmm..... what makes Phye so kind and lovely all of a sudden..a few hours ago you were both on each other's fangs and now_"

Gaby gasped as his eyes caught sight of the knife embedded on the floor with blood on it.

"He drew closer and bent to look at it".

Then he turned to Farhat.

"I thought I smelt your blood when I got into this cave..."Gaby sniffed again to make sure his senses weren't tricking him.

"Farhat why does this blade has you...your blood on it?were you hurt?attacked?"

Farhat could read the worried expression on his friend's face.He almost hit his head with his palm, fraustrated at himself.

H didn't think about it earlier he had forgotten Gaby's sense of smell. There goes his chance of making history.

Gaby drew closer to Farhat who stepped backwards from him.

Gaby sniffed on him.

"How come you don't reek of fresh blood anywhere?"

Farhat gulped as he stepped further away and placed both hands to his back.

He had to think of something and fast.

His hand was at his back ....he had an idea.

Farhat quickly used his long nails and tore through his other palm, trying his best to keep a straight face, not to show pain.

"Is your sense of smell linked to your depleted magic energy?how come you cannot smell something as obvious as blood".

Farhat took out the hand and raised it to his Friend's face as he tried erasing the blood on the other had behind him on his clothing.

Gaby gasped.

"Oh my goodness how did you hurt your self?"

"I was trying to pull out that rusty old metal over there".

"With your bare hands?"Gaby eyes widened.Had his friend gone nuts?

"We have depleted magic energy right now I just thought we would need a weapon".

Gaby shook his head and with the hand pulled him closer.

"Oooouuuu!!"Farhat cried out from the pain from the pull.

"Even with my injury you are still so harr...."he paused as he watched Gaby tear a piece from the ream of his garment then he brought out an ointment from his bag and began to apply on it.

"Ahhh!"Farhat groaned as it touched the injury.

"Relax...don't be such a kitty"Gaby grinned

"Even with my injury you can't be gentle with me"Farhat said softly his mind debating on if it was really the right thing to keep this from his friend.

"I don't have the tender hands of a maiden I'll have you know"Gaby said yet Farhat thought his touch had grown more soft now,he watched as Gaby blower on it and carefully tired up the injury like a piece of precious breakable stone, then he gently replaced the injured arm at his side as his face wore a wide grin.

For a moment to Farhat time seemed to stop as he admired the way Gaby cared and loved him and the way he gently handled his injury.

He loved him the same way and would never want to hurt him but Gaby was something he wasn't,something he might never be and this only chance to prove himself to the realm and too his Sorceror wasn't one he would let friendship screw up.

He would have that word stepped on from the meantime.Of cos when Gaby finds out he would be hurt but his friend was so simple minded,he could easily cook up a lie and get things back to normal.
