Chapter 35 - Not alone

Perspective : Thor Gild

Keira gently whispered,

"They haven't spotted us yet ... I suggest ... we look for a way around".

Sheela supporting Keira's suggestion, added

"I second that opinion".

However, Emilia remained silent in response, and I could see the terror in her eyes as I observed her face.

Marcus called Emilia,

"Hey ... let's go ... before it's too late".

Keira called,

"Hey Emilia, what happened?".

But Emilia's expression remained unchanged, along with the fear in her gaze, frozen in her glance.

The stillness of her face broke, as her lips imparted these words, I felt the same fear I saw in her eyes.

"I think... it's too late".

Those things were looking straight right at us.

[Emilia said

"Get your weapons ready... we got no choice".]

As everything happened, I found myself in a challenging situation. The weight of carrying Ron on my back had taken, it's toll on my strength.

And Yet, I persevered.

"After all, the mark of a true ascetic is to embrace the difficulties that lie before us... It's in my blood... so, I shan't be afraid of measly ants".

Every step felt heavier than the last, but I drew my blade regardless, driven by the need to protect my allies.

For a moment there, a stillness hung in the air. No one moved nor they uttered a single word.

All we did was stare at each other, us staring at those ants and them staring back at us, with an eerie silence, that broke as soon as Emilia placed Yuna on the ground, freeing herself of all the restraints she had.

Emilia drew her red sword, a surge of power flowed through her veins. The vibrant red colour of her blade illuminated the dimly lit surroundings.

As she gently caressed her hands through its edges, her blood resonated with the sword, the blade glowing even brighter.

Without saying a word to anyone, she charged for battle.

With great determination, She propelled herself towards the closest ant, as its mandibles snapped menacingly, she dodged by sidestepping towards the right, evading it's attack.

With a calculated Swing of her sword, she drew a red arc that tore through the air, colliding with that ant's exoskeleton. A burst of red energy engulfed it, rendering it motionless as it crumbled to the ground.

Now, Emilia's gaze locked on to the approaching group of ants, their mandibles glowing with an eerie shade of yellow. As they lunged towards her, she promptly sidestepped, her gaze fixed at their movements, reading each of them, so she can predict their move and determine her's in return.

As her body moved with extreme fluidity, with a flick of her wrist, she drew an arc, with her red sword slicing through the air, leaving behind a trail of red energy. When the arc collided with the ants, it sliced off four of their heads all at once.

Then,

Seizing the opportunity, a lone ant leaped towards Emilia, it's glowing mandibles aiming for her exposed flank. As it unexpectedly caught Emilia off-guard, in a display of agility, she twisted her body mid-air, narrowly evading it's attack. With a swift motion, she spun around, in lightning fast speed, Emilia maneuvered her sword, tracing an intricate pattern through the air, the red arc surged forward colliding with the ant in a burst of energy.

Yet, the ant managed to partially dodge, as it lunged towards Emilia once again, it's mandibles grazing her arm, leaving searing burn, that strengthened her resolve.

"Just another one of her battle scars."

Emilia always drove head first into battle, without asking for anyone's assistance. But this time, she faced foes that were unrelenting forces of nature, these creatures work well in harmony with each other, their bond stronger then their deaths, so watching a few of them lose their lives only tighteneds their resolve.

Whereas, Emilia was alone, this time she needed us, and we needed her if we were to survive this ordeal.

Keira shouted,

"The hell are you all just standing here... while she fights alone ... we can't let her show off like this ... it hurts our pride ... dammit ".

"We are men ... let's act like it".

As he said that, a strange vibe of passion enveloped inside me, exhaustion was no more an issue.

With that, Keira and Ikbal joined forces with Emilia.

Keira placed his hands upon the ground, summoning five towering golems. With each summon the ground below them cracked and split open, revealing the emerging golems, their rocky forms taking shape.

As those ants advanced, each golem moved with calculated precision, their massive fists - swinging with Earth - shaking force. The ants sensing the threat, lunges towards the gollums.

Emilia swiftly maneuvered between the gollums, with her blade, she carved Intricate arcs of red energy that sliced through the air.

Simultaneously,

Ikbal drew back his bow string, infusing his arrows with his wind magic, his arrows streaked through the air with incredible speed, As the Golems delivered powerful blows, crushing those ants beneath their rocky fists.

Emilia's arcs clashed with their glowing mandibles, and Ikbal arrow struck the ants with lightning fast accuracy.

Keira said,

"Well ... it isn't bad working together... ain't it?".

Emilia replied,

"Eyes on the price .... or you might lose".

Keira responded,

"I didn't knew ... that we were having some sort of contest".

Emilia responded,

"Well ... now, you do".

Well, they were not the only ones fighting for their life, back in the rear,

The ants swarmed towards me and sheela, their glowing mandibles crackling with energy. Sheela, always quick to react, released severals small flickers of flames that hung in the air, resembling innocent embers. Upon contact with the ant those flickers exploded into fiery landmines, engulfing multiple ants into a fiery eruption.

I moved in to support Sheela, my sword a blur of motion, as I deflected the ants strike with accurate electrifying precision. Flickers of lightning danced upon the edges of my blade, with each swing, I felt my blade, emitting crackling bolts of lightening that surged through the air, striking down those relentless ants with electrifying force.

I asked sheela,

"You hanging in there?".

Sheela replied,

"Yes.... but be sure to stay in my back".

I responded,

"You shouldn't worry about me ... warrior blood runs in my veins ... I will be fine".

She replied,

"No it's not that ....".

In a split second, just as Sheela was about to finish her sentence, an agile ant darted towards her. With its mandibles aimed at her neck. However, Sheela with her quick reflexes conjured a small flame in her hand. With precision, she unleashed the flame, directing it towards the approaching ant. As the flame made contact, it formed into a sphere of scorching flames. The ant was engulfed in it, reduced to motionless ashes.

She spoke along with sigh,

"That was a close one".

I asked her with concern,

"Did it get you ?".

She replied,

"No".

Meanwhile, a symphony of crackling lightning enveloped me as I swiftly closed in on the approaching ants. With each swing of my blade, infused with the raw power of my lightning magic, the air split apart, releasing a cascade of electrifying arcs that struck the ants with unstoppable force.

However, those ants were countless, no matter how much me cut them down, more take their place, and in no time we were surrounded on all sides.

Sheela conjured a floating flame above her, shaping it into a sphere that grew larger and larger.

Sheela shouted,

"Hungry for more... take this you cunts".

With an accurate toss the sphere exploded into a scorching inferno, engulfing multiple ants into its fiery grasp.

In the meantime, I bravely held my blade tightly with both hands, even with the additional weight of Ron on my back. As I spun and twirled, I could feel the power behind my blade as it sliced through the air, tearing through the flesh of those ants. The crackling energy surrounding me disintegrated their exoskeletons.

As, we battled those ants relentlessly, a massive ant, it's mandibles pulsating with energy, emerged from the swarm. It's size intimidating, Sheela called upon her fire magic, Conjuring massive spheres of flames that hovered above us, radiating intense heat, with a flick of her wrist, she propelled the sphere upon that giant ant, the sphere exploded upon contact, engulfing it in a torrent of searing flames.

yet the resilient creature continued its relentless approach towards us, burning but undeterred. In response, I pointed forth my lightning-infused blade, its glow matching the determination in my eyes, ready to face the burning giant ant head-on.
