"Here's your tea .... hold it still .... ".
"It's hot".
Regina handed me a cup of hot tea, good for this freezing weather.
I thanked her.
As I took a sip, a comforting warmth spread through my body, thawing away the chill. Simultaneously, I noticed a pleasant tingling sensation in my throat, reminding me of its previous soreness. Surprisingly, it felt rather soothing and enjoyable.
We had been traveling since yesterday in this frigid weather, no wonder my throat was sore.
I asked Yuna,
"Do you want to have a cup of tea?".
She replied,
"No .... I don't drink tea".
Who doesn't drink tea?
Then she took out a bottle of wine, took a sip.
And said,
"This is all I need".
I had a question,
So I asked her,
"Isn't that cold?".
She replied,
"It is".
That some dedication to alcohol.
As she took another cold sip from that bottle, I could sense her shivering.
Out of concern, I said.
"Stop that ... or you will catch frostbite".
With a playful gaze in her eyes and a cheeky grin on her face, she started clinging to me.
Out of sheer sudden ness I spoke,
"Hey, what are you doing?".
She replied,
"Since you are this worried... why don't you warm me up with your body".
In a rush to get her off me I said,
"Fine ... fine ... I take it back... I take it back".
"I don't care ...okay".
But it was too late, her face was already red.
"Is she drunk already?".
Regina started pulling her off me.
While saying,
"Get off him ... you old hag".
Yuna replied,
"Who are you calling an old hag?".
Her face was near my ear, and I could feel her warm breath. Additionally, I could sense the gentle pressure of her huge breasts against my arms.
I told Yuna to,
"Hey ... cut it out".
"Can't you see I am stearing the horses".
Then out of nowhere Kyle came riding on a horse,
He said,
"Hey you three ... stop it!".
"You are distracting our look outs".
I replied in my defence,.
"It's not me .... it's her".
Kyle responded,
"Is she drunk!".
As I was about to answer, Yuna covered my mouth.
She withdrew,
and said,
"No ... I am perfectly fine".
Out of curiosity I asked,
"Were you playing drunk?".
She replied,
"Yup .... did you really thought that I, would get drunk by just few sips".
She points towards Regina,
With a mischievous grin she said,
"The look on this one's face,, was precious".
"Don't worry I am not taking your man".
With a playful wink she said,
"Atleast not now".
To stop her messing with Regina,
I confronted her,
"Are you trying to get a rise out of Regina?".
She replied being ignorant,
"I don't know ... what are you implying?".
I replied,
"You know that day at the party you.....".
I got interrupted by our lookouts,
"Wolves at our Left side!".
Kyle shouted,
"Adventures .... assume your formation".
We stopped our Convoy and took a defensive stance.
Kyle said,
"Don't engage now ... let them come closer".
The man standing on my right was, Ikbal an A Rank adventurer.
And on my left was, Regina.
Ikbal was an exceptional archer, he used wind magic in tandum with his archery to increase the, momentum of his arrows.
With two lightning fast shots, he killed a dire wolf that had been 70 meters away from us.
Wolves are adaptive creatures.
They watch, they learn and then they adapt.
Like cunning assassins blending seamlessly into their surroundings. By this time, they had mastered the art of evading even the most potent magical spells. They conceal themselves within the dense foliage, lurking in the shadows, silently plotting their moves. Like skilled predators, they slink from one tree to another, inching closer to us, their eyes gleaming with primal hunger.
And In no time they had surrounded us.
Encircling us, ready to pounce at us, the moment we lay our guards down.
With a violent series of barking, 3 wolves lunged at me.
I without letting them take any initiative, charged at those wolves, swinging my sword with great speed. It swiftly dodges my attack and retaliates towards me by lunging at me, attempting to bite me. I, who had already predicted this,
skillfully relocated my position as it was in mid air, sidestepping left and then in a single strike severing its head.
After I killed the first wolf, the remaining two starts Circling me, I take a defensive stance. As they try to find an opening, I with an element of surprise, swing my sword at them, targeting both wolves were in one go, one gets severely injured and other manages to dodge in time.
Out of anger the un - Injured wolf leaps towards me, In return, my quick response, I swing my sword in a wide arc, the wolf relying on it's speed darts around me, evading the attack, It then leaps in to my back, digging it's claws deep into my flesh.
As the wolf pounced into my back, I could feel it's breath in my neck, using the momentum to my advantage, I performed a daring backflip, a gamble, hoping it would dislodge the wolf off my back and It did. In mid air, me with my sword made a quick precise thrust, immobilizing the wolf upon my landing. I saw the Injured wolf withdrawing, With a swift, percise thrust, I impaled it upon my blade.
........
Perspective : Regina Clement.
Five wolves slowly approached me. They were Circling me.
"I know what this is?".
"They are waiting for me to start chanting spells ... that will be the moment they would strike ... isn't it?".
They presumed I was only a spell caster, while they were not wrong, but I was also called the "Silver Valkyrie", for a reason.
And that reason was that I had my way with knifes.
"If I do this ... they shouldn't find out".
"Let them think that I am an helpless spell caster".
By adeptly concealing my actions from the watchful wolves, with a deft silence I discreetly opened my item box, As my right hand was holding on to my staff, I used my left hand to skillfully take out and hold my two daggers, hidden from their prying eyes.
In a clever ploy to catch the wolves off guard, I intentionally dropped my staff, luring them into a false sense of security.
I threw one dagger from my left hand and skillfully caught it on my right hand.
Taking advantage of the moment I skillfully charged at the wolves wielding both my knives.
And successfully managed to stab one and injured another.
"Now that they are aware".
I took a defensive stance, waiting for the wolves to make the first move, as they circle around me trying to find an opening. One lashes at me,
In return I strike with lightning - fast duel slashes, but the wolves manages to dodge them, and counters the attack for a swift bite.
As one lunges towards me, mouth wide open, I rapidly cleave through its exposed mouth, severing it down to the neck. Subsequently, it falls
onto the snow, suffering and slowly dying.
After that the remaining three retreat, growling and barking at me.
Me marking it as a perfect chance, rapidly slashing with both my knives, the wolves relying on their agility dodges each strike, and retaliates with a quick bite aiming for my arm. I used the back of my knife to hit one's head as it jumped at me. Then I performed an intricate series of knife techniques, aiming to overwhelm the wolves, tracking their moments and trying to catch them off guard, but they were just too agile and adaptive to my moves, dodging each strike.
As they were fixated on my blades, I seized the opportune to deliver a swift kick, followed by a decisive stab. Two remained, one limping and the other one angrily growling at me.
"I should target the Injured one".
"First".
I lunged at the injured wolf, aiming to strike it with my left knife, the wolf anticipated that attack, and jumped to the right side narrowly avoiding my blade.
"That's what I wanted".
Now it was right in the striking range of my right hand knife, I thrusted my knife deep into its pelt and finally killing it. While the other remaining wolf jumped at my neck, that was now wide open.
