Chapter 43 The river I

''There doesn't seem to be any wild animals, is that normal?'' Sophia asked.

Eleonor was the one to answer her.

''No it's not, there should be birds at least, but nothing is here, I suspect it's because of Genis energy.''

''So is it safe to go outside to practise?''Emma asked Eleonor.

''It should be, at least we have time before the wildlife comes out, i believe they are all in hibernation or simply sleeping, in order to evolve, so we should have some time before that, to practise.''

Emma smiled.

Kaile looked at Salia who now looks different to before.(A/N Salia doesn't have bird-like slits, she still has human round black pupils.)

''Salia, you should focus on absorbing Genis energy into your etherealization to materialise them, and evolve into a hybrid.''

Salia smiled at Kaile and nodded gratefully, not only can she be a vampire like Kaile, but she can also maintain her dream of becoming a proud phoenix.

Emma looked towards Eleonor and said.

''You mentioned experiencing the elements while pondering them, in order to…?''

''Before that, we have two options, 1 we can focus on trying to learn our innate abilities as Ancient vampires, or 2, we can stick with learning the elements first.''

''Which one is harder to learn first?'' Sophia asked Eleonor.

Eleonor pondered for a moment before replying,

''Depends, innate abilities would be easier if you are willing to harm yourselves, for example-''Eleonor didn't even have a chance to finish her sentence as Emma shut her down immediately.

''Not happening, we should just focus on the safest route.''

Sophia just nodded in response, Eleonor had no problems with this method either, and Kaile, he was curious as to what Eleonor was going to say, however he knows just asking is going against his mom, therefore he won't do that, at least no in front of her anyway.

Turning towards Salia, Kaile spoke out.

''We need to leave the craft.''

Salia nodded, with a gesture she made the ramp open up, and at the same time gave the ability for Emma, to control the ramp at will.

''I gave, Miss Nuit, the ability to control the ramp at will.''

Emma, who was facing the direction the ramp was opening with interest, suddenly looked towards Salia, after hearing her words she nodded, then followed the rest who were already on the way outside of the craft.

Once outside, the dark sky with twinkling stars, a shining lunar coloured moon, lit up the surrounding trees.

With the racial ability of vampires, the Nuit family should technically be able to see in the dark, however, only Kaile and Eleonor have the ability at the moment.

Looking around, Kaile spotted the river just a few metres outside of the shield.

Kaile, remembering he has a water manipulation as part of the Ancient vampire bloodline, walked towards the river.

The river was calm but fast, if you got inside it, you would definitely be rushed down the stream, however, it's not impossible to hold onto something, like a log for example, and not be dragged with the flow.

As Kaile walked, everyone else followed behind him, not talking at all, for Emma and Sophia, the night time vibe, within the mountains, was a bit unhinging, resulting in them becoming silent and attentive, whereas for Eleonor, it was not much different than day time to her.

As Kaile's foot touched the barrier surrounding the hovercraft, he noticed his foot couldn't go past it, noticing this, Sophia quickly ran back inside the craft, in which Salia changed the settings to allow organic matter inside.

Unfortunately, the shield isn't advanced enough to allow specific lifeforms inside based on their signature, so with the shield now becoming passable, that means wildlife can also enter the shield as well.

Nevertheless, Salia is within a room on the ship, therefore, the odds of something happening to her, even if an animal enters the craft, is quite low.

With that thought in mind, the group headed towards the river.

''I know what you are thinking.'' Emma said, her voice was laced with disapproval.

''I thought I said nothing dangerous?'' She added.

Eleonor chimed in, before Kaile could explain himself.

''Emma, you are forgetting something.'' Emma looked at Eleonor with a raised eyebrow, not impressed at all, clearly, if what Eleonor says isn't valid, then she will absolutely not allow Kaile to act recklessly like this.

''We although, still have 1% human bloodline, and are highly influenced by it still currently, ultimately we are no longer human.'' Eleonor let those words sink in for a while.

Emma however, was still not understanding, her thoughts were simple.

'So what if we are not human anymore, we will still be swept away by the flow of the river' But she didn't say that outloud, and instead just waited for Eleonor to continue.

Looking at Emma who was not convinced, Eleonor added.

''You are underestimating you current physiology, if a human could survive in the river flow, without been washed away just by holding onto a log that's hanging over the river side, and with the river not been all that deep for us at all, it's impossible to be swept away.''

Hearing Eleonor's words, Emma understood, however as a mother with a world view of a normal person, it's still too dangerous for her.

Seeing Emma shake her head, Sophia interjected.

''I have an idea.'' She then looked towards Eleonor and spoke out.

''You said we only need to experience the elements right?''

Eleonor nodded in response.

''Good, then aren't we standing on an element right now?''

Looking down, Kaile and Eleonor muttered, 'Earth element,' Whereas Emma just smiled, feeling proud of her daughter for being able to think of the obvious, something that's actually hard.
