CHAPTER TEN
When Carl woke up this morning, Roger was already standing by with his breakfast and the maids.
"Good morning, young master. I hope you had a good night's rest."
"Hope you slept well, Roger?"
The maids placed his breakfast before him and readied his bath. He told them that he would pick out his own clothes today.
"Before I forget, the interview you asked about a few weeks ago us today, young master. Would you like to be there? I can make preparations."
His heart beat faster when he heard that and he didn't know why.
"Roger, what about Bethany? Have you done what I asked you to do concerning her?"
"Yes sir. She has been invited for the interview and we're awaiting further orders from you."
Carl was happy to hear it. If Bethany thought she had been treated badly at the hotel last week, then she should just wait and see what would be down to her today.
What a coincidence that he just happened to be the heir to the company she was seeking appointment.
He got ready with so much excitement, today he would finally begin his revenge on Bethany.
Bethany and Matt walked into Stewart Industries with heads held high. Beth eagerly looked forward to this day and she had so much hope and expectation.
Because of this, she even arrived at the interview an hour late and luckily her name was still not called. So she waited.
There were so many people there and she saw that she was going to be called late so she went in search of Matt.
"I'm really hungry, Matt. Can we go grab lunch before we get back?"
"What if they call your name and you're not here to answer?"
Bethany smiled and used her finger to draw a line across his chest.
"Then, you can just talk to the CEO for me and tell him to give me the job."
Matt gave in to her pleadings and they both went out for lunch. He hated her and hated her gut. She was a golddigger, he could see that much but there was something she had that he wanted.
His company was going through a rough patch, the debts that he had accumulated were so much that he couldn't go out without one of his debtors coming after him.
Things got worse when the Mafia came after him for their money and when he was not able to pay, they asked him to do something else so they would forgo the debt.
They asked that he get them the documents of Bethany's family company. So Matt did the only thing he thought would help, seduce her and since she was so materialistic, she fell for his trap..
Carl got down from the cab and stared up at the tall skyscraper in front of him. He decided to take the cab so that he won't be recognized by anyone.
Since he had not made a public appearance, it was easier for people not to know that he was the young master but when they saw the guards and everything, it won't be hard to figure out.
He entered the company and began dailing Roger's phone so that he would put him through to the manager. Because of that, he didn't see that he was walking towards Matt and Bethany who were on their way back from lunch.
"Oh my God! How stupid can you be? Are you blind? You got your poor smell all over me!" Bethany screamed.
"Seriously Carl, it's beginning to look a bit too desperate. You're following her everywhere and trust me, desperate is not a good look on you. Poverty is, though."
The both of them burst out laughing, leaving Carl standing there just starting at them.
"Why are you always at classy places? The other day, you were at the hotel and today, you're here. You have no in being here. Only rich people should be here. You're classless and you should be thrown out quickly."
Carl didn't say anything to either of them as they made fun of him.. he had learnt to keep quiet and just act, there was no use in exchanging words with them.
Bethany noticed that the line had started moving and she dragged Matt along, telling him to leave the "worthless, jobless fool" alone.
Her words hurt Carl deeply and he immediately told Roger to inform the manager not to make the mistake of giving Bethany the job else he risked losing his.
Bethany was going to pay dearly for the things she said to him and the way she has treated him. When Rogers called him and told him that his order had been carried out, he waited for the action to unfold.
As Bethany entered the room, the manager stopped what she was doing and stood up.
"Bethany Arlington? "
Beth nodded her head with excitement.
"Please leave my office and don't return here again if you don't want to be embarrassed."
Bethany's mouth fell open in shock and she looked at the woman like she had grown a second head.
"Ma'am, I think you're mistaken. My name is Bethany, Bethany Arlington and I'm here for the job interview. You called me-"
"Young lady, please leave my office before I call the security."
Bethany left the office in shame and kept looking at the woman, hoping she would be called back. As she stood outside the office, Matt came up to her.
"The CEO is not in the country. You're done with the interview so quickly? I'm sure it went well." Matt asked with a smile.
The look Bethany gave him let him know that there was something wrong.
"The stupid bitch sent me out of the office. She told me not to come here anymore." Bethany shouted.
"I don't understand. Why did she send you out, did you say anything to her?"
"I didn't even the chance to before she sent me out."
As they were talking, a security guard came up to them.
"Excuse me ma'am, you've been instructed to leave the building. Please follow me."
Matt tried speaking to him but he didn't give him listening ears.
Carl sat in the lobby, legs crossed as his phone rang. Roger Informed him that the manager had taken care of the issue. The manager came up to him as he ended the call.
"Mr Stewart, I'm happy to be at your service. Everything as been taken care of. Please let me know if I can do anything for you. "
Carl thanked her and he gave a smile to Bethany and Carl as they were escorted out of the building. Bethany wondered why the manager was being nice to him and had treated her like that.
"Well yes, there is something you can do for me. Tell me more about Parker Constrictions." This was Matt's company and he wanted to know the relationship Matt's company had with his company.
This was how he was going to deal with Matt.
