After much effort, Ren was able to develop a series of techniques he felt would complement his class as a swordsman. He did think of other possible techniques, but he saw more use to them if they were skills instead of techniques.

By this time, a month had gone by in the academy, and Ren's routine remained the same. As for Ray, he seemed to have stumbled upon a newly formed dungeon and raided it, probably with the help of someone. Of course, Ren would know this since Ray confidently challenged him during their sparring class. Even though he got his ass handed to him, he still had some light his eyes like he had done something right. Ren wasn't bothered or proud of his strength so early on, because Ray as the main character was just bound to become stronger as time went on.

. . .

"Ok, that is all for this class. Make sure you all do my assignment which is to be submitted before this time next week."

"Ren Ashburn, see me later in my office." The teacher said before leaving the class.

'See her? Did I do something wrong?' Ren was confused after all, because he couldn't remember doing anything that would prompt him to be sanctioned in any form.

'I don't really have anything to do now, so going right away should be alright.'

Every teacher had their own office, and Ren didn't really know where the teacher's office was, so he figured following immediately after her would be good so he wouldn't have to go searching for her later.

Since he followed from a distance, the teacher got to her office and entered before Ren reached, he gave it some time so it wouldn't look like he was following her.

*knock *knock

Without waiting for a response, Ren walked in and saw that his teacher was just taking off her coat when he had entered before she took her seat. He closed the door behind and walked towards her desk.

"Take a seat," she said, gesturing towards the empty seats.

Looking around the office, Ren was reminded just how different this world was. To the right, there was a show glass that held a number of monster bones, mostly skulls, and to the left there was even a jar placed inside a huge glass tube that held the head of a Dhairgi.

'What the fuck? Why are all these things here?' Ren took a quick glance at his teacher, but, 'I really can't remember her from any point in the original story, though,' of course, it wasn't like every single person in the world would be mentioned in the story, it just meant she wasn't important to the original story.

Well, she looked to still be young, maybe in her late twenties. It was possible that she retired early, or maybe she was in some kind of mission to lecture at the academy for a given period.

On her desk, he could see her name, which he had already forgotten since he didn't really pay much attention during classes. Ren had one mentality. He could spend time learning strategies during lectures, or he could just attain strength that ignores strategies, and no matter what direction he thought about it from, the latter was the obvious choice.

"Ms. Ava Reid."

"Huh? Why the full name, though?"

"Oh, nothing, I just read it from, that," Ren pointed at it.

'He doesn't even know the name of his teacher, seriously?'

"Anyway, I'm sure you are aware of the reason why I called you here? It's because you were the only one who missed my test. Any explanation for that?" Ms. Ava asked.

"Test? I didn't know there was any test given, though." 'Was it not announced in class? How come I didn't know?' Ren was a bit confused.

"What do you mean by that? I relayed it to your class rep to inform you all, and you say you didn't get the message? Have you been skipping classes?" Ms. Ava was curious as to why that was, but it seemed like her curiosity soon faded after about five seconds.

"Whatever, as a teacher, it's also my responsibility to make sure you balance everything and not just become a brute after you graduate. For that reason, I'll be pairing you with some students to study so this doesn't happen again." It was a bit fast, and Ren was sure that he had been misunderstood along the line.

"Ms. Ava, it's not that I don't understand, I just didn't get the message is all, so…"

"Look, I know you're the top when it comes to talent for your set, so you might be lazing off because of it, I get it," a thought came to her as she said this, and there was a sense of familiarity in her words, 'after all, that's what got me here, heh…' she paused for a moment, but before Ren could pick up, "look, just join the group and I'll consider it done. You may leave."

"…"

'I didn't even get to defend myself and she didn't tell me who she'll be paring me with, is that how things go? She was also pretty quick to judge…' There wasn't much he could do in this situation than accept it and just move on to more important things.

'This aside, it's already one month and it's nearing the time for the first incident to happen. This is also the time for Ray to shine and get some recognition which is important to take the plot further in a major way.'

Regardless, Ren wasn't planning to involve himself in the matter, at least not initially, but now, Ray was weaker than he was when this incident happened in the original work, and those around him who were involved in the incident might not be stronger either. There was no way of knowing, if the strength of those they were going to face would be reduced because they weren't strong enough, or if it was going to remain the same.

Because of this, Ren was making sure to keep track of the happenings. Well, it was to happen in block G, so he was definitely going to know.

'Though, in the original story, the girl who was captured was never given a name, and even later on she ended up dying while trying to block an attack that was meant to kill Ray.'

"Heh, living in this world can be so tough." Ren thought to himself.

Well, there were some characters that everybody agreed weren't supposed to die, but their deaths were necessary for Ray's character development, but living in this world now, Ren had thought of not allowing the deaths of such characters, and the big question hit him.

'How much will my actions to the main plot affect the story?'
