Everyone was happy to see Linda after she appeared with Lucy and Janet. Seeing Linda gave them some hope that Isaac might also show up, but even after waiting for an extra 15 minutes, he didn't show up, so they left.
Originally, there was no plan to find Ashley once they found their way to leave the academy grounds, but it turned out that Janet was going to be more useful than she looked. Once of, if not the only reason why they agreed to bring her along was because she was of the magician class, and unlike most people, the name of her class was quite literally, magician.
This class gave Janet two major skills that would be of intangible use for the team in this particular mission. The first one let's her create a field where everything within it is invisible, while the second one could locate something, in this case, someone.
