Dunice weighed the offer carefully. A man who was ready to accept her and her kid, Alix, unconditionally. Her daughter would have a father figure in her life, and she would finally be able to live a comfortable, stable life. She thought about it for a moment, then looked up at Richard with a hint of determination.
"Okay, I'll do it,' she said, her voice firm. "I'll give it a try."

"They lingered at the restaurant, enjoying each other's company. When it was time to leave, Richard offered to drive her home, but Dunice declined, not wanting to raise any suspicions.
