Dunice woke up with a start, her heart racing as she realized Alex was no longer beside her. She glanced at the clock and panic set in - it was already 10:00 a.m.! She threw off the covers and hastily wrapped herself in the blanket, rushing out of the room in a flurry.
She searched the mansion frantically, her mind racing with worst-case scenarios, until she finally spotted Alex in the kitchen, sipping a cup of coffee. "Good morning, love," he said, walking over to her with a warm smile.
But Dunice was having none of it. "Why didn't you wake me up?" she exclaimed, her voice laced with worry. "Alix has to go to school!
"I know, I know, I've already dropped her at school while you were a sleepy head, so don't worry about it," Alex said, his eyes lingering on the nape of her neck, his gaze burning with a soft intensity.
