Chapter 222 - CHAPTER 222 - Seraphine

Because of Li Lin's strange words, Tobias was indeed attracted by the changes in his body, coupled with his trust in him.

In the end, under the gaze of Caitlyn and Cassandra, Tobias still drank the genetic enhancement potion in his hand.

Sitting in the workshop for more than half an hour, the potion gradually took effect.

Although Tobias felt a heat from inside to outside, it wasn't as serious as Li Lin who had drunk two bottles in a row and needed to return to his room to cool down in cold water.

With just one bottle of enhancement potion, the effect was quite remarkable, and there were no side effects.

Tobias's body visibly grew stronger, and he could easily lift a storm robot.

In the past, he who rarely exercised could hardly achieve this.

Excited, Tobias asked Li Lin for two more bottles of genetic enhancement potion, intending to wait for the potion in his body to digest before drinking again after some time.

During the remaining time, Li Lin had lunch with Caitlyn and Kai'Sa, while Cassandra had the servants measure his current body measurements.

Because most of the Kiramman family's clothes were tailored, they fit perfectly.

With Li Lin growing taller and stronger, most of his original clothes were much smaller than the one he was wearing now.

Fortunately, the casual clothes he wore when going out were relatively loose, so he wouldn't be left without clothes to wear.

In the afternoon, Caitlyn still had many cases of lost property to deal with, so she was temporarily unavailable.

Li Lin, on the other hand, set aside his work and prepared to fulfill his promise to Kai'Sa by taking her out to explore the festivities in Piltover.

During Progress Day, Piltover was heavily guarded, with law enforcement officers patrolling almost every street.

Even the Chem-Barons dared not cause trouble during this period, and the incident of last year's Corina Veraza was only an exception.

Moreover, the Chem-Barons are currently mostly subservient to Silco, who seeks cooperation with Li Lin to build Zaun, so they naturally wouldn't cause trouble.

Of course, except for those "one person eats, the whole family doesn't worry" orphans who like to steal money during chaos.

This year's Progress Day was the most peaceful in years for both city-states.

Li Lin put on the Infinite Armor and walked out of the iron gate of the Kiramman estate with Kai'Sa.

With his current enhancement, far surpassing ordinary people's combat power, he could directly confront those modified by Hextech technology, and even small-caliber and low-power pistol bullets couldn't penetrate his body.

However, most people in Piltover still didn't know Kai'Sa very well, and her skin armor was still somewhat different from Hextech, so she might receive some strange looks from some people.

Li Lin planned to take Kai'Sa out during Progress Day, wearing powered armor, to let a considerable number of people know that she was backed by the Kiramman family.

With his current popularity, if not in Zaun, at least in the entire Piltover, almost no one doesn't know the name "Li Lin."

When everyone learns that there is a girl wearing "Hextech Powered Armor" by Li Lin's side, Kai'Sa won't be regarded as an alien anymore when he wears ordinary clothes in the future.

On the day she first came to Piltover, Caitlyn had already taken Kai'Sa to most of the well-known places in the northern half of the city.

Such as the main administrative area of Piltover, the Star Avenue, the treasury, and the safest bank in the whole city—the Equator Vault are all on this street.

There is also Clockwork Street, famous for its clockwork devices and mechanical clocks, Hundred Wines Street, famous for brewing, with winding and twisting roads, Glitter Street, known for its living environment and convenience, which is considered the "best of the upper city," and the commercial street where you can encounter some band stars or noble ladies and gentlemen from morning till night.

Of course, a few days ago, Caitlyn took Kai'Sa out for a walk, and it was already late, and many places were already closed.

Li Lin spent two or three hours taking Kai'Sa around the northern city area again, and also took her to the Equator Vault, where she visited and became familiar with the process of depositing and withdrawing money in Piltover.

When they looked at the semi-finished miniature rune ground that was slowly rotating in the Unseen Plaza, they decided to go to the southern city area.

If time permits, they will go to the bottom of Piltover, which is also the top of Zaun's border square, to experience a completely different flavor from the upper city.

However, just the southern city area is quite different from the northern city area.

A considerable part of the middle class people in Piltover admire Hextech technology and mechanical augmentation, but hindered by the high cost of Hextech technology, they can only use some inferior, or even fake, mechanical devices to "show off" their different status.

Li Lin felt puzzled by this behavior and didn't understand why they did this.

But when he noticed Kai'Sa's curious eyes staring at those people, he understood the answer.

Whether it's true or not doesn't matter, they just want that kind of attention to satisfy their vanity...

After spending a long time in the southern city area, Li Lin bought Kai'Sa a cup of Ionia-flavored tea and a few pieces of different flavored sweet cakes from a roadside stall.

Pushing the cart was an old woman with a checkered headscarf, speaking with a heavy accent.

Li Lin identified the elderly woman by her Ionian appearance, the marks time left on her skin, and her accent, indicating she likely settled in Zaun after arriving in the twin cities.

"Happy Progress Day, child," she smiled, handing Kai'Sa the packaged tea and pastries. "Be careful not to spill."

"Progress Day... Happy," Kai'Sa replied in somewhat unpolished Piltover dialect, taking the food.

Li Lin retrieved his wallet from his bag, took out two silver wheels, and handed them to the old woman. "No need for change."

"You're very generous, sir! May the spirits bless you."

"May the spirits bless you too, ma'am," Li Lin replied in Ionian.

Hearing this Ionian blessing that only Ionians knew, the old woman looked up at Li Lin, a hint of surprise flashing in her cloudy eyes.

"Are you... you're the Pioneer of the future, Mr. Li Lin, as the newspapers and magazines proclaim?"

Li Lin smiled faintly at the old woman. "Yes, it's me. In Piltover and Zaun, I suppose only Kai'Sa and I would venture out dressed like this."

"I'm sorry, sir. My old eyes didn't notice you just now... forgive my lack of hospitality."

The old woman looked slightly apprehensive, not expecting such a prominent figure to buy from her little stall.

"You're too kind," Li Lin quickly reassured her, helping the old woman up as she tried to perform a noble gesture. "I'm just taking her out for a stroll."

Both of them glanced at Kai'Sa at the same time.

As she couldn't understand their conversation well, her attention was solely on the pastries in her hands. With every bite, she savored it, reluctant to let the sweet taste fade from her mouth.

"What a lovely young girl. Is she your sister?" the old woman asked, looking surprised. "She doesn't look like she's from Ionia."

"She's from Shurima, a friend's daughter... so, technically, she could be considered a sister, right?"

While the two were conversing, Kai'Sa finished her dessert.

Carefully, she took out a handkerchief from the delicate little pouch Caitlyn had given her and wiped her mouth, then looked at Li Lin with pleading eyes.

Seeing Kai'Sa's pitiful gaze, Li Lin couldn't help but chuckle. "If you want more, just say so. Why are you still being polite with me?"

He took out five more silver wheels and placed them on the old woman's table. "Another 10 pastries and two more teas."

"This..." The old woman hesitated, looking at the money on the table.

After a moment's pause, she shook her head. "I'm sorry, Mr. Li Lin. I can only sell you nine pastries."

Li Lin raised an eyebrow, somewhat puzzled. "But you just said you had exactly ten pastries left?"

"Well, you see, I promised a little girl to save one pastry for her every day."

The old woman seemed to recall some heartwarming memories, her face softening with kindness. "She's a very understanding girl who knows how to cheer me up. Since I started selling here, she would come to chat with me at a fixed time every afternoon, lift my spirits, and never ask for anything in return. So, as a token of my appreciation, I save her one pastry every time."

As the old woman spoke, the clock in the distance at the Undercity chimed four times.

Her cloudy eyes brightened slightly, and she looked towards the east of the street. "Oh... look, she's here."

Li Lin squinted and followed the old woman's gaze towards the end of the street. A young girl with shoulder-length pink hair, remarkably beautiful, appeared to be about the same age as Kai'Sa, perhaps a little younger. She gave Li Lin a very familiar feeling.

When he activated his "Data Mind" to see the girl's name, he was slightly surprised.

Well, well, it's none other than the future star-songstress of the twin cities - Seraphine!
