Upon hearing their names called, both Li Lin and Caitlyn turned towards the source of the voice.
A middle-aged woman, wearing the white lab coat of Piltover University, with glasses perched on her nose, and a plain appearance, stood before them. Behind her were two assistants, a young man and woman, dressed in a manner suggesting a scientific background.
Recognizing the newcomer, Li Lin exclaimed, "Professor Zindelo?"
Caitlyn, glancing at Li Lin beside her, then turned her astonished gaze towards the woman a few steps away. "Are you Professor Zindelo?"
Valentina chuckled lightly. "Haha, just call me Valentina. Skip the formalities."
Approaching quickly, she shook hands with Caitlyn and Li Lin. "I never expected to meet the two from the Kiramman family here."
Valentina's gaze lingered momentarily on Caitlyn, then shifted to Li Lin. More interested in Li Lin as a fellow scientist than in the daughter of a council member.
"Your Hextech energy crystals and generators are groundbreaking. Not to mention the current inventions like bicycles and mechanical watches," Valentina expressed her excitement, making it seem like Li Lin was the professor and herself just a curious student.
Li Lin maintained a polite smile, not interrupting her enthusiasm, occasionally reciprocating.
Caitlyn, on the other hand, had different thoughts. She blinked her eyes, shining with an unusual brilliance, gazing at the young man beside her. Her mind was in a whirl.
Unconsciously, he had already reached such heights, surpassing even Jayce's reputation in less than half a year.
Caitlyn sighed inwardly.
After a brief conversation, Valentina apologized to the two and took her leave. With the help of her assistants, she climbed onto a pre-arranged small platform, opened the Hextech sound system and microphone, and began introducing her inventions.
In no time, a large crowd had gathered around Li Lin and Caitlyn. As Valentina discussed the potential effects of her groundbreaking invention, the onlookers were in an uproar.
Caitlyn wore a shocked expression, covering her small mouth, exclaiming, "Accurately targeting every person on this planet? Is that even possible?"
Li Lin shook his head, explaining, "Hex crystals inherently contain magical elements. The energy crystals I invented are no exception. One could say all Hextech involves magic. For Hextech, nothing is impossible. After all, the power of magic can accomplish things far beyond our imagination."
If Valentina's invention succeeded, the miniaturized runic space would essentially become a biological radar, scanning every living being on Runeterra. It could be more terrifying than Earth's artificial satellites.
Li Lin's eyes gradually lit up. If this device were applied to his powered armor or even future mechanical troops, mechs, and artificial satellites...
However, Caitlyn, standing beside him, fell into silence, wearing a pensive expression.
After a while, she expressed her concern, "But I feel... she's not being wise in doing this."
Li Lin raised an eyebrow, asking, "Why do you say that?"
"A mechanical device that can accurately lock onto every person in the runic space. Setting aside some heinous criminals who have not fallen under the law, think about those influential figures from the major families. Do you think they would allow this invention to be completed?"
Listening to Caitlyn, Li Lin's brows furrowed. He stroked his chin, "Seems like you have a point..."
As Caitlyn continued listening to Valentina's impassioned speech, she couldn't help but sigh.
"She's too flamboyant. Even if she wants to reveal this invention, she should at least wait until it's completely finished. Besides, she probably hasn't joined any family, right?"
"As far as I know, she hasn't."
"That's the point. Behind her, there's only Piltover University, and it's a diverse mix of people from all walks of life. I'm really worried about Valentina's safety..."
Caitlyn's words left Li Lin with a solemn expression. Given the current level of corruption in the upper echelons of Piltover society, the situation she described was indeed possible.
Moreover, from his memories, there seemed to be some impression related to Zindelo's Incognium Runeterra. It ended up standing alone as an unfinished product in the center of the Incognia Plaza, with no follow-up content.
Upon closer inspection, it seems that Valentina is likely to be assassinated at some point. Either by criminals avoiding capture or the corrupt elite families of Piltover. Li Lin turned to Caitlyn and said, "I understand. In the next few days, I'll visit the academy and remind her."
"Hmm," Caitlyn snorted softly, then turned her gaze to him. "We've seen enough here. Let's go to the next place."
Guided by Li Lin, the two squeezed out of the crowd. Before they could go far, a familiar voice, that of a young girl, stopped them. "Li... Lin?"
Li Lin turned in surprise, "Hmm?"
About ten meters away, a girl with shoulder-length brown hair and a red knee-length dress waved at him.
"Orianna?" Li Lin was quite amazed.
He hadn't expected to encounter this girl again after several months.
"Who is Orianna?" Caitlyn raised her eyebrows, looking in the direction of the voice, noticing the girl waving her hand in the distance.
When she realized the girl was not very old, she visibly relaxed.
Approaching Orianna, Li Lin explained to Caitlyn, "The girl who woke me up at Progress Day. Didn't I mention her to you before?"
"No," she replied succinctly.
"I might have forgotten..."
As he reached Orianna, Li Lin greeted her with a smile. "May the gears turn in your favor. I didn't expected to meet you here."
"May the gears turn in your favor. I'm surprised to see you here as well," Orianna said with a light laugh. "But I often see you in the newspapers. The popular bicycle was your invention, right?"
"Exactly, just a trivial invention." Li Lin chuckled.
Then, Orianna noticed the girl behind him, who was also observing her with familiarity. She couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow! Are you Miss Kiramman?"
"Just call me Caitlyn. Thanks for your help at Progress Day," Caitlyn said with a polite smile, appearing quite approachable.
"Oh, it's nothing. It's all thanks to Li Lin..." The friendship between girls was sometimes strange. Caitlyn and Orianna chatted for a few moments, ignoring Li Lin.
"Did Mr. Reveck come too?" Li Lin interjected after the conversation had gone on for at least three or four minutes.
During this time, he hadn't seen her father anywhere.
"Dad went to the restroom over there. He said he'd bring me a bottle of softdrink. He told me not to run around..." Orianna explained.
Just as Orianna finished speaking, a slightly anxious middle-aged man's voice came from a distance, "Anna!"
The three turned simultaneously in that direction.
A man with the same hair color as Orianna, dressed in top-notch fabric, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, and holding a glass bottle filled with effervescent liquid, hurried over.
He was none other than Orianna's father—Corin Reveck.
Orianna waved at him, "Dad!"
As the man approached, handing the glass bottle to Orianna and panting for a few breaths, he sternly said to his daughter, "Didn't I tell you not to talk to strangers?"
"They are not strangers!" Orianna cheerfully took a sip of the soda, then pointed to Li Lin. "He's Li Lin, the one who helped us at Progress Day."
"Li Lin? The one who invented the bicycle?" Corin's expression changed, and he turned his puzzled gaze toward the young man and woman beside him.
Upon seeing Caitlyn, his face changed again. "Miss Kiramman?"
