Chapter 73 - CHAPTER 73 - Project Genesis - Infinite

A week passed in the blink of an eye.

In the workshop of the Kiramman estate, Li Lin's newly crafted powered armor was undergoing its final round of adjustments.

The estate's steward, known for his efficiency, managed to gather all the materials for the powered armor in just over a day, with even some surplus materials left.

Thanks to Li Lin's enhanced mechanical crafting speed, the creation of weapon modules and their integration into the powered armor took no more than a day and a half.

Yet, as he worked on the weaponry, a sudden realization struck him: constructing a Tide Dynamo Station required underwater operations.

The most advanced diving suits in Piltover, made of bulky brass and steel, were designed for salvaging Alchemy Tech waste and sunken ships. Performing delicate tasks, like assembling water turbines on the seafloor, was impractical.

However, providing ordinary workers with standard diving suits would be irresponsible given the dangerous conditions of the chosen waters.

Some influential Piltover families or the Chem-Barons of Zaun might opt for the latter, prioritizing savings over the lives of workers, as lives, after all, were deemed invaluable.

Yet, Li Lin's moral compass wasn't that dark. He dismantled the Adaptive Defense, Overcharge, Overload, and energy crystal modules from his original powered armor.

In a remarkably short time, he transformed them into underwater armor suitable for regular people to wear.

Furthermore, he drafted detailed schematics of the armor, delivering both the blueprints and the prototype to Lady Cassandra.

He urged her to instruct Hextech workshops affiliated with the Kiramman estate to produce at least 10 sets of similar underwater armor.

With five days left after completing all these tasks, Li Lin invested all his energy into modifying the design blueprint and producing the new armor.

After two days of labor, he created a set of inferior-quality powered armor with all the necessary functionalities, along with various weapon systems.

Due to the insufficient energy from a single crystal to power multiple weapon modules, Li Lin added two secondary energy crystal slots to the lower back of the armor.

These two crystals were integrated into the overall energy supply but primarily designated to power the weapon systems.

Additionally, as his Mechanical Enhancement skill was only at level 2, the probability of upgrading from "Inferior" to "Fine" was 73%, from "Fine" to "Rare" was 37%, and upgrading to "Artifact" had a mere 1% chance.

With Li Lin currently at level 9 with 223 mana, each skill upgrade cost 100 mana, requiring half a day for a full recharge.

For some reason, Li Lin's luck seemed to be used up during the last successful upgrade, with two attempts needed to upgrade from "Inferior" to "Fine," taking an entire day.

Upgrading from "Fine" to "Rare" required a whopping four attempts, not to mention the slim 1% probability of reaching "Artifact" quality, a goal he didn't even dare to consider.

After completing all the work, Li Lin wiped the sweat from his forehead.

The new powered armor system only rewarded him with 2 skill points and didn't trigger an upgrade, possibly because the experience gained from the "Inferior" quality invention wasn't sufficient.

Yet, he was currently too preoccupied to worry about the system.

Li Lin cleaned his hands and face, smeared with oil, and looked at his new armor with satisfaction.

Its appearance wasn't significantly different from the previous one, maintaining a dominant black color scheme with a streamlined, muscular design that exuded a strong mechanical vibe.

The only differences lay in the height and thickness of the armor.

To enhance agility, Li Lin trimmed some unnecessary mechanical parts. The new armor stood at about 1.8 meters, slightly taller than his current form.

Several steel plates were removed from the front and back, preventing it from appearing overly bulky.

Although this came at the cost of reducing the basic life value to 3000 and functional armor life value to 500, the two additional energy crystals compensated for some of it by providing an extra 1000 life value.

In other words, the new powered armor traded 2500 life points for a speed close to half of what the Chem-tech enhanced person who had consumed Shimmer before could achieve. It was much faster than an ordinary person.

Moreover, this was without activating the "Overload Charge" function.

Li Lin found it quite satisfactory.

After loading three energy crystals into the slots, the system panel in his mind flashed with information about the powered armor:

[Powered Armor · Unnamed (Rare)]

[Attributes (Mechanical): 13,000 life points, 1500 energy, 48 combat power]

[Ability Effects]

[Passive·Full Automation: When energy is depleted, powered armor becomes immobile, consuming 40 energy per second.]

[Passive·Mechanical Enhancement: Provides additional attributes for all skills (except Energy Core), improving two grades of mechanical devices.]

[Passive·Alloy Armor: Provides an additional 1000 life points.]

[Passive·Energy Crystal Core: Provides an additional 1000 energy.]

[Passive·High-Quality Carrier: Provides an additional 500 energy.]

[Passive·Recharge: Restores 11% of maximum energy per second (5%+3%+3%).]

[Active·Adaptive Defense: After a brief 1-second charge, consumes 12% of maximum energy to gain an adaptive shield with 24% of maximum life points, lasting 10 seconds (cooldown 1 minute).]

[Active·Overload Charge: Consumes 15% of maximum energy for a 3-second overload charge, gaining an additional speed boost for 12 seconds. The next attack can cause devastating damage to the target and trigger an energy shockwave in a fan-shaped area 5 meters behind the target.]

[Active·High-Frequency Vibration Blade: Deploys a high-frequency vibrating particle-heating blade from the right arm, consuming 120 energy per second.]

[Active·Energy Surging Hand Cannon: After 0-3 seconds of charging, fires an energy ball from the palm of the left hand, causing fatal damage to the target or an area of 1-3 meters, consuming 80-120 energy per shot (the longer the charging time, the larger the affected range).]

[Active·Energy Shock Shoulder Cannons: Unfurls shoulder armor, firing two energy projectiles forward, dealing devastating damage to a target within a 1.5-meter range and causing an energy shockwave within a 1.5-5 meter range. Each energy shot consumes 200 energy.]

[Active·High-Energy Laser Beam: Unfurls left arm armor to reveal a firing device, shooting a high-energy laser beam forward, causing devastating damage to enemies along the way, consuming 200 energy per second, lasting up to 3 seconds (cooldown 15 seconds).]

[Active·Energy Field Shockwave: Deploys the energy shockwave device on the back, emitting a gradually weakening shockwave within a 10-meter radius, inducing targets within a 3-meter range into a fainting state, consuming 500 energy.]

[Active·Overdrive Operation: Causes the three energy crystals to go into overdrive, temporarily providing an additional 45% life points, increasing the maximum energy recovery to 24% per second, and granting additional bonuses to weapon systems and movement speed, lasting 10 seconds (after using three times, the energy crystals will be scrapped).]

The new powered armor this time has a total of 14,000 life points and 3,000 energy. Excluding the 40 points of energy consumed per second, the self-charging can restore 290 energy per second.

After optimization and improvement, many functional numerical values of the new armor have changed more or less.

For example, the energy consumption per second during armor operation has decreased, and the durations of "Overload Charge" and "Overdrive Operation" have increased.

What stands out more is that several days ago, Li Lin had already conceived many of these features. Compared to the speed of energy recovery, the energy consumption of the weapon systems seemed not too high.

As long as skills were not mindlessly spammed, the armor, equipped with three energy crystals, did not need to worry about running out of energy.

Li Lin stroked his chin, nodding in satisfaction.

However, he soon realized a new issue on the panel prompt: "Unnamed Powered Armor... Last time, the armor couldn't be named, but this time it can. What should I call it?"

After some thought, a familiar name suddenly flashed in his mind. "Right, let's call this series 'Project Genesis.'"

He smiled slightly, "The codename for my set... Let's call it 'Infinite.'"
