Chapter 2 - You are Dying!

"It's cancer, Itsuki," the doctor said with great grief.

"You have got about six months. It was too late," he continued.

This shattered Itsuki. Just yesterday he was living a normal life, but now all of that was ending. He couldn't breathe for a moment; it was as if his soul was getting sucked out. He was losing his sense of reasoning. At first, he was hit with devastation, then with complete rage, and now he was in complete agony. He was an orphan, abandoned at a very young age by everyone, and now after reaching high school, even life completely threw him away. He was just moments away from graduating and seeing a new beginning, but now all of that was vanishing into thin air. He returned to his dorm and tried to fall asleep, but that was a luxury he couldn't afford.

"Why, God, why? Why do you hate me so much?" He questioned the great Almighty.

"What have I ever done to lose your favor in this life? Even if you can't make my life any better, please don't destroy it," he pleaded with the Almighty.

Itsuki completely shut himself off. He was always in his room, trying to fight his fears. He was absent from school for a whole week, and for that whole week, all he did was cry, cry, and cry. Soon he started accepting the facts. He started to accept the situation he was in. He started doing things he normally didn't and started going back to school. There, his friends inquired about his absence, but he just brushed it off with some lame excuses. After that, just when classes were about to start, he saw his first love, Hinata. He was in love with her since their first year, but he never tried confessing his feelings.

"Hey, why don't you confess your feelings to her?" Akira, Itsuki's closest friend, suddenly asked.

"The year's coming to an end, you know," he continued.

"Maybe I should try my luck out," Itsuki replied.

"Yeah, you really should before our graduation," Akira said, trying to motivate Itsuki.

After a week, Itsuki started bleeding from his nose almost every day. He was getting anxious; he knew his time was coming to an end, so he decided he would confess everything to Hinata.

After school that day, he abruptly approached Hinata and requested a brief conversation.

"Hey! Thanks for coming," he said with a slightly awkward smile.

"Okay, so what's up?" she replied, casually taking a seat.

"Well, you know, we've been friends for a while, and I just wanted to be honest with you. I've had feelings for you since our first year," he confessed, a hint of nervousness in his voice.

"Hmm, interesting. I didn't see that coming," she chuckled. "But go on."

"It's not like love at first sight or anything. It just kinda grew on me over time," he explained, trying to sound nonchalant.

"Hmm, got it," she responded, raising an eyebrow.

"Look, Itsuki, it's not that I dislike you or anything. I'm just not really looking for a relationship right now. It feels like too much for me," she explained, keeping it casual.

He took a deep breath and then dropped a bombshell, "I'm dying, Hinata. I've got terminal cancer, about six months left."

"Oh wow, that's heavy," she said, her expression shifting to surprise and concern. "I didn't see that coming at all."

"I know it's a lot, and I shouldn't have dropped it like that, but I just needed to be honest with you. Can you be with me until the end?" he asked, vulnerability in his eyes.

Hinata thought for a moment, then shrugged, "Okay then, I will be with you until you meet your end, but remember, Itsuki, I will never fall in love."

With that, although Itsuki was filled with guilt, the happiness of finally having his crush go out with him kept him in a really good mood.

"Finally something good," he smiled as he fell asleep, but fate had decided something else for him. At the hospital, Itsuki's doctor found out that he had handed Itsuki a false diagnosis!
