Alycia's confession is followed by silence. Complete silence.
At one point, the silence and her mother's unreadable expression are too much to deal with for Alycia that it feels like pure torment!
She knows her mother well and she also knows that there is no way for her mother to take this lightly. Like she had thought before, she is convinced that hell would break loose. And now, seeing how her mother's face slowly turns dark, she realizes that she is not that wrong.
"Mother -"
Her voice dies when her mother slightly lifts her right palm and turns away. She then watches as her mother slowly rises from her seat and walks towards her working desk on the right.
With panic surging inside her, Alycia Reese quickly stands up, her gaze trailing her mother who still has her back facing her. "I apologize for going against your wish, Mother; but -"
"Leave."
