Chapter 41 - My Love For You Goes Beyond Race Or Blood

Astrid was shocked by what I said, as it went against everything she was taught and felt about relationships between two different races, and she looked at me as if she were looking at a bizarre creature.

She looked like she wanted to say so many things against what I said and argue with my logic. But before she could, I simply said

"I know you want to say that my thought process is absurd, and there's no way a person can be attracted to a member without even considering what race they belong to, since it goes against common understanding.

Even if that person is attracted to another person of a different race, it wouldn't be because they were attracted because of their looks.

But because of the strong love they have for one another, that goes beyond the barrier of attraction. And it could never be because of simple attraction to one another, which is something that I too understand.

Even the rare attraction demi-humans feel towards humans is only because all races originated from the human race, so that basic instinct of being attracted to other humans is still flowing through their veins, which is also why you found my eyes attractive.

But at the same time, humans find it hard to reciprocate that attraction, since the other person doesn't have the pure blood of a human flowing through them, which is the biggest reason why there are so many cases of demi-humans having one-sided crushes on humans, that can never be reciprocated.

And has even gotten to the extent of many stories, plays, and shows being written based on this premise since ancient times because of how unfair and tragic it is."

I sighed, thinking about the sad fate of many demi-humans and the unrequited love they had for the humans they wanted to be with.

Although I know that not all of them ended up as tragedies, and some of them even worked out after both of them found their true feelings for one another, regardless of their race.

I'm pretty sure the number of heartbreaks outweighs the number of miracles that took place by a large margin, which is simply something that's unpleasant and sad to think about.

Astrid seemed to have thought that I was brain dead, for not knowing how the relationship between races worked, and wanted to give me a thorough lecture on it to clear my mind from having any weird thoughts.

But seeing me explain in detail about the rules of attraction between two species, as if I myself had fought that tragic war multiple times, she was surprised and looked like she was wondering why I said such words, even though I had such a deep understanding of how relationships between races worked out.

"If you already know how the rules of attraction work out between members of two different races, then why are you insisting that it's all a joke, as if it does not matter to you?" Astrid asked, eager to know my answer.

"Because it really doesn't matter to me."

I shorty replied, which made her confused for a second, and then a look of anger appeared on her face as if she thought I was playing with her.

"Cough cough...Let me explain, before you have any thoughts of hitting me." I quickly said before she could use her horns to bash me in the head.

"What I mean to say is that, even though there are certain barriers that stop two members of different races from being attracted to one another in a romantic or sexual way. Those boundaries only apply to everyone else, and not me...I myself, am different from others. And don't adhere to those boundaries and restrictions, when it comes to what I love and what attracts my attention."

"You mean..." Astrid raised an eyebrow pensively, as if she could understand what I'm implying. But she couldn't believe what I was trying to say and was waiting for me to confirm it.

"It's exactly what you're thinking."

I announced, which made her eyes glimmer, and her mouth open wide.

"I'm attracted to people based on what gender they are. And not what race they belong to...Basically I'm attracted to every single girl out there on the continent, be it if they are humans or if they're a group of demi-girls. And I don't discriminate in any such way, and I simply like girls that are interesting and pretty, irrespective of their race."

I concluded what I wanted to say with a smile.

"T-That...That..." Astrid's face twisted.

"That's impossible!"

Astrid let out a shout of shock, unable to believe the words that came out of my mouth.

"There's no way that can be true!" She said with her eyes wide, and a look of astonishment on her face.

"I'm sorry to burst your expectations. But it is true." I said with conviction.

"I know myself better than anyone else. So I know for a fact that I'm attracted to demi-girls."

"But that just doesn't make sense!...There's no way you can be attracted to demi-girls. It goes against your human nature!"

Astrid said, still unwilling to believe what I said, which was understandable since what I was saying went against norms that have been present since ancient times in this world.

"I know that it really doesn't make sense. But my nature is what I define it to be and is not something that I'm going to let the blood of the race I belong to decide."

I said calmly, while my eyes gleemed with resolution, that Astrid had never seen before, from the guy who was constantly joking around, which even made her skip a beat and blush a little for some reason.

I then said, with a casual smile on my face, that Astrid was more familiar with

"And there are some things in life that really don't have to make sense, for someone to believe in it...As long as they feel that what they're doing is true to their intentions, it's really all that fine, isn't it?"

Hearing my words, Astrid's eyes glowed for a second, and then settled down as she closed her eyes with a look of contemplation on her face, as if she were slowly trying to take in what I said.

When she opened her eyes and looked at me after that small break, she seemed much more calmer than she was before, and the serene look in her eyes told me that she finally accepted what I said.

But even though she accepted it, she still looked a little confused and looked like she had a bunch of questions on her mind.
