The sun was already peeping through the horizon,warming the cold faces of those outside the house, sympathizing with the little Dawn.
"It's my birthday" She muttered,looking into the distance,at their door entrance,with series of yellow tape drawn across the door.
Noticing Dawn staring out into space, Christabel tap her shoulders, gently.
"Let's get you some medications" She said waiting for her to stand up.
Dawn stood up and started to make her way to the Sherlock's compound.
"Welcome honey" She heard Christabel's voice from behind her.
The house was a medium sized compound, almost the same size as theirs.She was tall enough to look over the small fence,to see her small window from afar.It was already Dawn,and birds had started to swim across the sky,signing the beginning of a new day....Her day.
Dawn couldn't bring herself to accept the fact that her dad is injured and her mom is no where to be seen.
"Drink this"Said Christabel, stretching her palms out,in laid a capsule,and her left hand holding a glass of water.
"Thank you" Dawn muttered before she took the pain reliever and the glass of water.
It was already 6:30 in the morning,and people were already preparing to start their day-to-day activities,and that included Vera,the couple's ten years old daughter,who was her senior in middle school.
She hurried down the stairs,because she was late,as the school was a bit far from home.
"Bye mum" She said before giving her a peck on the cheek,and giving Dawn a meek wave before rushing out of the door.
"Why don't you catch some sleep first,huh?" Christabel said,already leading her to Vera's bedroom, which appeared small and bombarded with the colour pink.
"If you need anything, I'll be downstairs,okay?"Giving Dawn a pat on the shoulder and excused herself from the room.
Nodding her head,Dawn went back to lay on the pillow,with her facing the ceiling. Silent tears could be seen rolling down her eyes,to the side of her face, wetting her ears and the pillow.
Everything changed in one night,and it made her feel so confused...'where did mum go?' She thought to herself before sleep came to steal her away from the turbulent day.
Weeks had passed,with no sign of either her mom nor her dad. Whenever she asked of her dad, Aunt Christabel would reply saying,'Dad is in a peaceful place and we'll all go see him one day..and you'll have to wait patiently to see him,okay?'
It didn't matter how much patience Dawn had to have, she would do anything to see her dad again. But what about her mom??
Months passed,and her Dad's case had been concluded to be a wild animal attack,because of the big hole on the wall,and her mom had been declared missing.
The Sherlock's had decided to take Dawn in,as she suprisingly had no relatives to take her in. She and Vera shared a room,and she got the best friend and sister, she had always dreamed about.
The Sherlock's treated her as their second child,as they had been trying to conceive another after Vera.
She was taken to her Father's grave,a day before she turned 9,and the reality of her father being dead,started to sink in.
12 years later
Dawn had grown up to be a fine young lady of 21 years,her body shape now stood out excellently,with her full,long,black hair which had been curled up,leaving it all wavy and bouncy,her black eyes stood out amidst her long eyelashes. She was the epitome of beauty, getting all her genes from her dad.
She didn't go to college and instead reopened her mom's restaurant,to support the family,as Henry had lost his job and Christabel was a full house wife.Vera became a K pop idol trainee,who is yet to have debuted after being in the industry for 3 years. Everyone was struggling,and Dawn knew now was not the time to burden the family who took her in,she had to help out in one way or the other.
