Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

After dealing with the mess left behind by the original host, Zhou Yuan was overwhelmed by a sense of guilt that he could only describe as a guilty conscience.

Even though these were the actions of the original host, Zhou Yuan now found himself in that role, and he couldn't shake the feeling of owing Asta an apology.

Moreover, the breakup fee he had just sent out was still Asta's money…

He typed out a message in the chat interface, only to delete it. He wanted to tell Asta about the things the original host had done behind his back, apologize sincerely, and vow to change for the better.

But in the end, he felt that apologizing in person would show more sincerity.

So, he spent half an hour typing and deleting messages on the interface, eventually sending just one sentence:

[Dixia: Will you still be at the military base tomorrow?]

As a marshal, Asta's whereabouts were not casually disclosed by the media, and Zhou Yuan didn't know where Asta was. So, he had to confirm the location with Asta first.

At the same time, Zhou Yuan couldn't help but feel a bit complicated seeing this prefix.

Half an hour passed, but Asta didn't reply, not even marking the message as read.

Zhou Yuan had to put down his device and do something else.

Coincidentally, he hadn't finished reading the book he started yesterday. It was placed on a small shelf beside the coffee table. Zhou Yuan picked it up and continued reading.

Zhou Yuan loved reading physical books. Through these thin and fragile pages, he could understand how the world's rules had evolved and how the knowledge here differed from what he knew.

Coincidentally, there was a study in this villa filled with five bookshelves of physical books. Before he could access the electronic device, Zhou Yuan spent his time in the study.

At first, he thought it was left by the original host, but knowing the original host's nature now, he was sure that this study must have been left by Asta.

Each book in the study had traces of being opened, but it was evident that the person who opened them was careful; there were no creases on the pages, only a few sharp annotations and insights.

These small details left Zhou Yuan with a favorable impression of Asta, despite never having met him.

It wasn't until dinner time that Zhou Yuan received a reply from Asta.

Asta replied with just one word: "Hmm."

It was brief and somewhat indifferent.

Zhou Yuan quickly responded, "Okay, I'll visit around noon tomorrow. There are some things I need to discuss with you."

After a moment, Asta replied again: "Hmm."

He really was a conversation terminator.

Zhou Yuan muttered to himself for a moment but quickly returned to the enticing dinner.

The next day.
