It has been a week since Aaliyah joined the world of Larcin. During this time, Aaliyah has been trying to understand things about this new world, but above all she has learned some information about the body that is now hers. This body is quite resistant and on top of that has a great deal of regeneration which allows her to recover much more quickly from injuries and fatigue. Her body is also in very good shape, with a slender figure and a fair complexion.
As for her situation, well for the moment Aaliyah lives in a house that is really very run down because they really do not have much money and especially because her 'big sister' who is called Zoé really does not have the means to offer them a decent life. Food is scarce and according to Zoé hunting is far too dangerous and complicated.
"I have to change that", said Aaliyah on her bed.
Aaliyah lay back and observed her statistics, in particular her fire magic, which was at level 1. The system would not give Aaliyah any more missions where she had to kill someone, which was a relief. . She wondered if there was a way to increase her fire. magic
"Breakfast is ready" shouted Zoé from the kitchen and Aaliyah went downstairs.
On the table there was dry bread and milk, the bread must have been there for at least a month and as soon as Aaliyah bit into it it was a little dry and hard but it was still food and Aaliyah had to feed herself. She drank the milk, which was slightly sour, and thanked Zoé for the meal. Once Aaliyah had finished she put her seat down in the sink before turning to her sister.
"I'm going to go out and try to get to town," said Aaliyah, but her sister took her arm.
"Be careful and do not forget to hide your horns" said Zoé before letting go of her arm.
Aaliyah had only been here for a week but she knew that demons were really despised by humans and Aaliyah had the misfortune of being half-horned, which was considered a big flaw in this world. She had to wear a hooded cloak to conceal her horns and avoid attracting attention. She also had to be wary of the guards and the knights, who would not hesitate to capture or kill her if they discovered her true nature.
"Do not worry" Aaliyah finally said before going up to her room and taking a cloak to hide her body and face.
Aaliyah went back down the stairs and out the front door before sighing.
"I hope everything goes well. " Aaliyah closed the door.
Aaliyah walked along the same path that had led her to the forest the last time, with just one detail when Aaliyah arrived in front of the signs indicating the paths, one showing the direction to go into the forest and the other the direction to join the city.
Aaliyah took the path to the town, feeling excited and curious about what she would find there. She had never been to a city here before. She walked briskly, enjoying the fresh air and the scenery of the countryside. She saw green fields, colorful flowers, and grazing animals along the way. She also encountered some travelers and merchants, who greeted her politely or tried to sell her their goods. After 35 good minutes of walking, Aaliyah finally arrived at the city gate.
As soon as she stepped inside, Aaliyah felt a wave of astonishment and awe. The city was really different from where Aaliyah lived, which was a small and isolated house in the mountains. The town was absolutely magical, there were lots of mages and animals like birds and even cats, the town was quite big and there were lots of shops. Aaliyah saw people wearing colorful and elegant clothes, carrying bags and baskets full of various items. She smelled delicious food, fragrant flowers, and exotic spices. She heard voices speaking in different languages, music playing from different instruments, and laughter and chatter filling the air.
"Wow" Aaliyah could not help but say before heading towards the merchants, Aaliyah needed food and then she needed to use the 100 gold coins she had earned by killing a wolf. She had been hunting in the forest for a week, and she was proud of her achievement. She hoped to buy some food but clothes could be great too.
"Come this way, we sell the best fish," said one merchant, waving a large and shiny fish in front of her. Then another made even more noise.
"Come and buy the best fruit and vegetables in the village, I guarantee you will not be disappointed," he said, pointing at a pile of ripe and juicy produce. There seemed to be a lot of merchants wanting to get customers, this alley was really busy.
"What should I get?" muttered Aaliyah before starting to go round the goods. She wanted to buy something that would last for a while, and that would not spoil easily. She also wanted to try something new and different, something that she had never tasted before.
Aaliyah observed what people were selling until she came to a bakery. Inside there was a couple who looked rather nice. They had friendly smiles and warm eyes, and they were wearing aprons and hats. They had a large oven behind them, where they baked fresh bread, cakes, and pastries. The smell was heavenly, and Aaliyah felt her mouth water.
"I'd better buy some bread first, I can not stand eating dry, hard bread any more", said Aaliyah, before approaching the baker to pass by. She had been living on stale bread and dried meat for a week, and she was tired of it. She wanted to taste something soft, warm, and sweet.
"Hello, could I have some bread please" asked Aaliyah very nicely but the baker ignored her. He looked at her with disdain and contempt, and turned his back to her. He was judging her by her appearance, which was not very flattering. Aaliyah's clothes were a bit shabby and dirty, and her hair was messy and tangled. She had not had a chance to wash or comb herself for a while, and she looked like a beggar.
"How could someone as poor as you buy bread" said the baker, sneering at her. He thought she was trying to cheat him or steal from him. He did not believe that she had any money, let alone gold coins.
"I've got money" said Aaliyah as she pulled out a gold coin, then the baker took the coin violently from Aaliyah's hand before analysing it. He looked at it closely, biting it and rubbing it. He was surprised and suspicious, he did not expect her to have such a valuable coin. He wondered where she got it from, and if it was real or fake. Then his expression changed to a smirk.
"Thief" he shouted, grabbing Aaliyah's arm.
"I'm not a thief," said Aaliyah, trying to fight back, and Aaliyah finally managed to free herself, but Aaliyah fell and her bag of coins spilled onto the floor.
"Darling, go and call the guards, this young girl is a thief" shouted the baker.
