Chereads / Assasin System / Chapter 2 - Two

Chapter 2 - Two

Aaliyah woke with a start, her senses slowly adjusting to the unfamiliar surroundings. The room she found herself in was shrouded in an eerie ambiance, dilapidated and seemingly forgotten.

As she stood up, the room was small and cramped, with wooden walls that were stained and cracked.

The floor was also made of wood, but it had a large hole in the middle that exposed the dirt below.

The furniture was sparse and shabby, consisting of a rickety bed, a broken dresser, and a faded sofa. The room smelled of mold and dust, and the only source of light was a single window that was covered with a dirty curtain.

The room looked like it had been abandoned for a long time, and no one would want to live there.

"Where am I?" Aaliyah's voice echoed faintly in the desolate room, the sound resonating off the decaying walls. She staggered toward a nearby mirror, her reflection revealing a startling transformation that sent shivers down her spine.

"What the..." Her words trailed off in disbelief as she examined her altered appearance. Despite maintaining her general likeness: a very light brown skin, curly hair and has always been quite tall, a few ominous changes had occurred.

Red irises stared back at her from where her brown eyes should have been, and small horns protruded from her forehead. Aaliyah's body had reverted to its adolescent form, a bewildering and disconcerting realization.

"I got hit by a car, and now I wake up here. What a shitty day," she muttered under her breath, attempting to comprehend the inexplicable turn of events.

Footsteps interrupted her bewildered thoughts, and the door slowly creaked open, revealing a young woman with vibrant purple hair. Aaliyah remained silent, observing the newcomer with a mix of curiosity and wariness.

"Aaliyah, you've finally woken up," the woman spoke softly, a sense of familiarity in her voice that Aaliyah couldn't quite place. Aaliyah remained cautious, unsure of this stranger's intentions.

The woman had long, curly purple hair that cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall of lavender. Her skin was dark and smooth, contrasting with her bright green eyes that sparkled with curiosity and intelligence.

She wore a simple dress made of patched-up fabrics, faded and torn from years of use. She had no shoes on her feet, only a pair of worn-out sandals that barely protected her from the rough ground.

"You've lost your tongue," the woman quipped lightly as she approached Aaliyah, reaching out to touch her forehead as if checking for signs of fever or distress.

The unexpected encounter left Aaliyah speechless, the surreal nature of her situation compounded by the woman's nonchalant behavior.

"Well, you look like you want to rest. I'll come back later," the woman remarked casually before turning and exiting the room, leaving Aaliyah alone once again in this inexplicable and eerie place.

As Aaliyah lay on the unfamiliar bed, confusion clouded her thoughts, leaving her grappling with the overwhelming sense of displacement.

Her mind raced, desperately trying to piece together the events that led her to this perplexing place, yet every attempt at clarity yielded nothing but a blank void.

With an air of uncertainty, she rose and made her way to the window, hoping for a glimpse of familiarity. What met her gaze, however, shattered any semblance of normalcy. Beyond the window lay a breathtaking vista that defied reality.

Floating islands adorned the sky, each one a different shape and size, some covered with lush greenery, others with rocky cliffs or sparkling waterfalls.

Majestic dragons soared amidst the clouds, their scales shimmering in the sunlight, their roars echoing in the air. Strange creatures roamed freely, some resembling familiar animals, others completely alien and bizarre.

All these elements belonged to a fantastical realm rather than the confines of the human world. Aaliyah's heart raced with a mix of awe and disbelief; it was as if she had stepped into the vivid landscapes of a fantasy game she once played, only this time it was real ,and she was part of it.

"This is incredible, but I'm still clueless about why I'm here," Aaliyah murmured to herself, her thoughts swirling with a tinge of excitement mingled with unease.

As she stood pondering her situation, a sudden manifestation caught her off guard an interface materialized in front of her, a mystical projection that seemed to defy the laws of reality.

The words "Welcome to Larcin" appeared in an ethereal script, startling Aaliyah, who stumbled backward and landed on the floor with an unexpected thud.

"Ouch," she winced, gingerly rising to her feet, her mind reeling with a mixture of astonishment and trepidation.

"It's like my video games. Maybe I can manipulate this with just a thought or a word," Aaliyah muttered, attempting to navigate the inexplicable interface that lay before her.

"I need information about myself," she thought, hoping to find answers amidst this bewildering revelation. Almost as if responding to her silent inquiry, an icon materialized, presenting her with a profile detailing her own identity.

Aaliyah: 13 years old, half human and half demon.

Magic: ????

Physical ability: 22

Strength: 45

Charm: 78

Magic resistance: 66

The realization struck her like lightning these were the exact statistics akin to those in her video games. Aaliyah's lips curved into a faint smile, a glimmer of reassurance flashing through her mind at the familiarity of the data presented.

"I can manage with this," she mused, trying to calm the surging tide of emotions that threatened to overwhelm her. She wondered what kind of magic she had, and why it was hidden from her.

Before she could fully process the implications of this bewildering revelation, another prompt appeared, catching her attention: "Assassin system."

Aaliyah felt a chill run down her spine as she read the ominous words.

She had a vague idea of what an assassin was, someone who killed people for money or other reasons. She had seen them in some of her video games, but she had never imagined that she would become one.

"What is this? Why do I have an assassin system?" she asked aloud, hoping for some explanation.

The interface remained silent, offering no clues or hints. Instead, it displayed a message that made Aaliyah's blood run cold:

"Congratulations, you have been chosen as a candidate for the Assassin system. Your mission is to eliminate the targets assigned to you by the system. Failure to do so will result in a punishement. Good luck and have fun."

First Mission: Kill a wolf.

Difficulty: Easy.
