Grey's POV
Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, the door to the store swung open, and in came Blue. Her face looked both shocked and angry as she quickly spotted me in the middle of a scene I didn't want to be in. She didn't waste any time, marching straight over to where I was standing.
"I heard someone say there's a thief in the store? What's going on here?" Blue called out loudly,as she glanced between me and the saleswoman.
The saleswoman, now all smiles and fake niceness, quickly rushed over to Blue. "Ma'am, there she is," she said, pointing directly at me like I was some kind of criminal. "That woman is a thief. She stole Mr. Wang's debit card, and I'm calling the police right now."
I froze as the saleswoman handed over the golden-plated debit card to Blue. The room was spinning, and I felt like I was suffocating under the weight of everyone's stares. This was a disaster, and I had no idea how I was going to talk my way out of it.
Blue took one look at the card, and then—out of nowhere—she burst out laughing, a loud, mocking laugh that silenced the entire room. Everyone was now staring at us.
"First of all, take your hands off her," Blue said firmly to the security guard who had my wrist in a tight grip. He looked confused but let go of me right away.
"There's been a huge misunderstanding," Blue said, still smiling but now clearly lying through her teeth. She leaned in closer to the saleswoman and whispered something so quietly that only a few people could hear."This is Lisa... Mr. Grey's secret fiancée."
My eyes widened in shock. Fiancée? I mouthed at Blue, trying not to scream. But she shot me a sharp look, silently telling me to shut up and go along with her lie.
The security guard and the saleswoman stared at us, completely lost. "Secret fiancée?" the saleswoman asked, her face pale with confusion.
"Yep," Blue said smoothly. "Mr. Grey wanted to keep it under wraps, so she's been working undercover as a courier in the company. You know, to keep a low profile." She winked at the saleswoman like it was the most normal thing in the world.
The saleswoman's face turned pale. "Oh my... I'm so, so sorry! I didn't know. Please, forgive me!" she begged, practically bowing in front of me. "I never would have accused you if I knew!"
Blue waved her hand dismissively. "It's fine, but make sure no one knows. It has to stay a secret." The saleswoman nodded furiously, making a big show of pretending to zip her lips shut. "Of course! I won't say a word!" She then turned to me, flashing a fake smile. "Thank you for shopping with us, Mrs. Grey. We hope to see you again soon."
I grinned back, but inside, I was screaming. Mrs. Grey?! Mrs. Grey? This was a nightmare I couldn't escape from.
The security guards, now looking embarrassed, stepped back and apologized. They even offered to carry my bags for me. I nodded stiffly, pretending I was in control, though my heart was racing a mile a minute. We quickly left the store, Blue dragging me outside before I could cause any more damage.
Once we were outside, I let out a long breath, trying to break the tension. "Phew, that was a close one," I said with a nervous smile, hoping Blue would laugh it off with me.
But she didn't. Instead, she was staring at me with fire in her eyes, arms crossed, and not even a hint of a smile. I knew I was in trouble before she even opened her mouth.
"Are you out of your mind, Grey?!" she yelled. "Do you have any idea what you just did? And what I just saved you from?"
I sighed, rubbing my forehead, trying to calm the storm that was clearly coming. "I wasn't thinking clearly, alright? It just… happened. But everything's fine now, isn't it? No harm done."
She didn't let me off that easy. "Calm? Do you have any clue what would've happened if you got arrested?" she snapped. "The police would've been involved, and they'd dig into your case Grey. And in case you forgot—Grey Wang is missing right now.If they find out you're using his card, guess what? You'll be the prime suspect in his disappearance!.And why wouldn't you be?"
Her words hit me like a brick. She was right—too right. If the cops got involved, it wouldn't just be a misunderstanding about a stolen card. I'd be at the center of a much bigger mess. I couldn't deny it anymore. I'd be a suspect in my own disappearance, and then what? I hadn't even thought that far ahead. Why didn't I think like Blue?
I glanced at Blue, realizing just how much she'd done for me. She was the one thinking on her feet, the one keeping me safe when I couldn't even figure out a photocopy machine. Why wasn't I smart enough anymore? Was this new body messing with my brain too?.
She shook her head, clearly fed up. "You need to be more careful, Grey. This isn't some game. You can't just wing it and hope for the best."
