Lola could feel the temperature in the room pick up by a few degrees, causing her to sweat in her palms and under her armpits. She appreciated the CEO's offer of help and sanctuary. But the scary words of the chairman started ringing in her head like an alarm bell.
'Stay away from my son and know your place in this company.' Lola heard the chairman's distinctive voice, repeating these threatening words over and over in her subconscious. So, she declines his offer saying,
"Sir..." She lifted her gaze to meet Richmond's intense stare. "I truly appreciate your offer of protection and sanctuary. The fact that you are concerned about my well-being makes me feel very special. But..."
