Seated still inside the interrogation room by the security post, Brian thought of a way to escape his current predicament. His head was lowered and his heart was pounding inside his mouth. He could feel the chief security officer's (CSO) piqued gaze, boring a hole through his head.
A thousand questions clamored for attention in Brian's mind as he considered his options for getting his job back.
'If it hadn't been for that...that...' Words failed Brian as the image of his now sophisticated and fearless wife flashed across his eyes.
'How did she move on so quickly and easily without me?' Brian pondered. 'I thought I was the centre of her world? How come she no longer cares about my feelings or my weak heart?'
"Are you done?" The CSO's irked voice boomed in the enclosed office.
"Sir," Brian lifted his head, confused by the CSO's question.
"Are you done rehearsing your next set of lies?" The CSO reiterated in a more enraged tone.
