"Umm...I...I have ...missed you too."
Lola's heartbeat tripled, slamming against her chest with so much vexation, as she watched Ian slowly approach her with all the confidence of a gentleman. Her emotions were jumbled like a mixture of ice and fire. She was fighting to keep a believable smile on her face and at the same time glaring at Ian.
"Aunty Lola...are you alright." Lindsay, being a very smart child observed Lola's slightly cold reception.
"No...I mean yes... I'm perfectly alright." Lola lied to protect the child's fragile heart.
Narrowing her gaze only on Lindsay and intentionally blocking Ian, Lola crouched and scooped Lindsay off her feet. She carried the happy and giggling child upward and spun her around in their usual playful manner.
"Weee...." Lindsay spread out her little hands, soaring like an eaglet testing her wings.
