The king cleared his throat and spoke in a solemn but stern voice.
"My dear children, the event of the past night have been the second most traumatic, excruciatingly painful and darkest hours of my life. When I lost my beloved son and his family more than five years ago, a large chunk of my heart was ripped out of me. I was a broken old man for months and even years. I and my troops went into a bitter war with our enemies. But no matter the amount of blood spilled on the battleground, nothing could bring my children back to life." King Xavier paused, his deep agony resurfacing again.
Lola lowered her head, as the King's heartbreaking words caused her tears to fall without restraint. She gritted her teeth as memories of her parents falling to death hounded her. She felt so much anger and bitterness in her heart, knowing that the person responsible for her parent's death was no other than his twin brother.
