Chapter 276 - The Trial 1

Punishment in the Yarkush criminal law was very harsh when compared to some neighbouring kingdoms and countries. It was usually about retribution. Anyone found wanting usually had few tales to tell especially if the crime was against the almighty and the royal family.

The Yarkush criminal law crimes were divided into three different categories depending on the offence.

The first offence was a crime against the almighty. The punishment for such a crime was fixed. No trial was given and the offender was instantly executed by public beheading in the arena for all to see and take caution. Their remains were burnt on a pyre until it was reduced to ashes. Also, the family of the offenders were made to pay with their lives. All properties of the offender were completely destroyed and his or her memory was wiped from the history of the empire.
