Chapter 268 - The King's Fury

The royal secretary stood up as he watched the chief advocate shrink under the old king's dangerous glares. He cleared his throat, redirecting everyone's attention towards him as he sang praises of the king as a great leader.

"Your majesty, you are the embodiment of wisdom, knowledge and divine direction. You are the greatest and most powerful leader in all the Easter kingdoms, a king of great virtue and dignity. We, your loyal subject would be nothing without your wise counsel. It is only a privilege that you seek our opinion in this matter and we will never take it for granted." Sir Hamed's deep voice echoed in the prevailing silence that ensued due to the king's ominous scowl.

Some of the other members of the council inwardly cheered the royal secretary, as they observed the king's fury melt like wax.

Sir Fin stifled a chuckle under a light cough as he marvelled at his friend's sweet-coated tongue that had had the king fooled for decades.
