Queen Nadia dabbed at her tears-clouded eyes and spoke softly from the heart while holding her granddaughter's hand.
"I'm sure they will, my angel." She stroke Lola's chin tenderly. "Nevertheless if anyone gives you a cold shoulder, try to win them over with a pure heart. But don't go too soft or let anyone walk all over you. Remember this, there is no such thing as a perfect family. In every family, you have the good, the bad and the ugly. Families argue, they fight, and they stop talking to each other at times. Some go as far as hurting one another." The queen's tears intensified. "But in the end, love will always prevail."
"Grandma, you seem distressed. Tell me, what troubles you." Lola used her thumb to wipe the tears streaming down the old queen's wrinkled face.
"Nothing that should trouble your precious heart."
Queen Nadia moved closer to her granddaughter and took Lola's two hands into hers, squeezing them tightly.
