"What am I doing here?" Ian asked raising his hand to his throbbing bandaged head. His throat felt dry and when he tried to swallow his saliva, it felt as if a million acupuncture needles were piercing his gut. His entire body ached from being in a single position for a whole day, making him slightly stiff.
"You don't remember anything that happened yesterday?" Nancy asked, peering through his eyes.
"I can think of anything right now, mum." Ian winced as pain coursed through his head like an angry serpent.
"Here... have a glass of water." Nancy offered him a drink and waited until he was done drinking.
"Thank you, mom." Ian smiled at his mum.
"Hmm... I can't remember the last time you thanked me sincerely for anything. They must have really knocked out your senses."
"Don't you think we should call the doctor?" Ramsey suggested, stretching his hand towards the intercom.
