On the other side
Kazuki and Catarina found themselves backed against each other as multiple assassins launched attacks at them.
"Let's see who kills more assassins in this fight, crazy cat"
"Challenge accepted, spoiled brat."
Catarina was like a mad cat as she launched towards her enemies with great momentum, gaining equal or even greater speed than her enemies. The image of a cat-like being with a nimble body and unparalleled beauty appeared above Catarina—the ciguapa—her spirit.
She swiped at the nape of one of the assassins taking out a chunk of flesh. Assassin A with a dagger spirit felt immense pain and slashed crazily with no accuracy trying to deal blows at her. However, his misery didn't end there. Catarina used assassin A as a springboard, stomping on him to pounce on another assassin nearby. There was a loud sound as the assassin was smashed into the ground. The force was too much to bear, killing assassin A and breaking his cybergear into pieces.
All of this occurred in an instant and suddenly Catarina was flying at Assassin B. As an experienced assassin who had been killing people for a long time, he adjusted quickly to the changes in the battle. Assassin B took out a bottle and broke it, its contents spilling out as poisonous gas covered her. She was unfazed by the gas and continued onwards, but just 5 meters away from assassin B she arched her back like an acrobat dodging an arrow aimed at her heart. The arrow would have taken her life if she hadn't dodged it, she knew it from her senses.
Catarina rolled through the air as she landed steadily on the ground glaring through the gas at a building, "Bastardo archer. You will die by my hands." The poisonous gas was getting denser around her as its volume increased. She barely made out the figure of assassin B who was controlling the gas. "This gas is deadly. It's poisoning not only my body but also my spirit." I need to stop it or my spirit soul will be damaged."
The poisonous gas effects were much deadlier than Catarina had expected. She felt light-headed as all of her senses weakened. Soon, the damage to her soul was too much and she felt her eyes losing their light as she finally fell lifelessly.
Assassin-B had been carefully observing Catarina's condition. After seeing her die with his own eyes he dispersed the poison cloud approaching her dead body.
"Kuhaha, both of us have D-grade strength but you were powerless against me. That's because I am the master of poison. Even a fighter with a C-grade won't survive in my poison fog then how could you, a D-grade? It was your bad luck that you met me, kuhaha."
Assassin-B was staring down at Catarina's body in disdain, full of himself when as if everything he had seen was a lie as Catariana's body disappeared. He felt a cold piece of metal pressing on his neck, and his body froze in fear and dread as cold realisation hit him. He turned back, only to see the person whose face he had just killed, looking at him coldly with merciless eyes. One look at them told him, any effort for a plie would be useless.
"How? You are supposed to be dead. How can you be alive?"
"You're a fool, that's why. I made you believe the fake to be real and you readily accepted it. It was very easy to manipulate you because of your arrogance and underestimation of me. This mistake is going to cost your life."
Catarina ruthlessly shoved the sharp object deep into the assassin's neck. The assassin gurgled blood out for some time before falling never to move again.
" Cough... Cough, I have dealt with the assassin but his poison severely affected me and my soul. If it wasn't strong enough then my illusion would have become my reality."

Out of the 5 D-grade Spirit Assassins that attacked Kazuki and Catarina. Two of them were engaging Catarina while the others were successful in their attack, but...
Kazuki took out his sword from its sheath and lightly whispered, "Futsu-no-Mitama, let's show our enemies who they are messing with."
An image of a beautiful sword spirit that inspired feelings of courage and bravery appeared above Kazuki as his battle began. His attacks were lightning-quick, with overbearing force. The three D-grade assassins with different spirits were able to continue fighting because he was a little slower than his enemies and they also used their wealth of experience. If he could maintain this pressure on the three assassins, he would soon overpower them. But things were about to get tricky for Kazuki as they showed perfect coordination.
As if sensing the battle was not going their way, they immediately changed tactics. Kazuki was a step slow in noticing this and it cost him dearly. The assassins activated their spirits. Assassin C with D-grade dagger spirit and assassin D with D-grade throny rope covered in wedges suddenly showed a lot of openings giving him the perfect chance to strike. He went for the attack but that's when assassin E who had hidden behind its two companions during the spirit activation locked eyes with him. Kazuki felt an electric shock passing through him, and the next moment, he was standing on the edge of a mountain with his sword. In front of him, a being of nightmare flapped its wings with its large golden eyes staring at him, the dreadful monster - dragon.
Had he teleported, died, and then immediately reincarnated, or was it something else? He felt fear like he never had, his knees buckled with no strength left in his legs. He felt like an ant facing an apex predator. There was no way he could stand courageously against a dragon.
n reality, Kazuki stood still with empty irises as the thorny vine bound him completely, making him bleed profusely. Assassin C came for the final strike to kill him.At the same time, Assassin E fell spasaming uncontrollably bleeding from his eyes, nose and mouth, before finally stopping her movement. She had died instantly as she was unable to take the backlash of her spirit attack.
Assassins C and Assassin D paused, surprised by their companion's sudden death.
She's dead, kuhaha. What a pathetic way to die Rose."
"So pathetic. We will tell everyone just how pathetically she died. Even her soul won't be able to rest, kuhaha."
"But why did she die"?
Assassin C and Assassin D's eyes widened in horror.
"Pathetic Rose's ability and spirit were D-grade. She won't have any problem with D and C-grade spirits."
"B grade would make her bleed and put her out of commission for a week."
"A grade would damage some parts of her soul and put her out of commission for a month."
"But only an S-grade spirit would kill her because her nightmare-inducing spirit can't deal with the backlash."
"Sword boy has S-grade spirit, scary, scary."
"Kill him before it's too late."
"Kill him before it's too late."
