Chapter 5 - The boss' wife

Lavena City 7 am~

News traveled in the office that the CEO's wife was coming to the company. One of Sebastian's secretaries overheard it from Faber Addams, Sebastian's top secretary, and whispered it to a friend in passing who shared it with another person.

Shortly, everyone in the company was aware of her arrival. The employees rushed out to the entrance of the company to welcome her. To show her kindness and be in her good books.

The leader of the welcoming committee was Leah. She took it upon herself to impress the boss by being kind to his wife.

They cued at the entrance awaiting her arrival. They didn't wait long as the next moment, an autoclave of cars arrived at the gate. They smoothly drove into the compound and one by one they parked right outside the company.

The bodyguards alighted from the cars and gave attention to the car in the middle. Faber came out of the company holding a fresh latte in his hand. He approached the entourage to greet Sebastian's wife and welcome her to Devonte.

Everyone peered over the bodies gathered around the car to get a glimpse of the CEO's wife. With Faber's present, the passenger door was opened by the driver.

Red heel alighted from the car and touched the ground. In the next second, Aryanna emerged from the car. Wearing a white blouse, and a black knee-length pencil skirt. Her hair was tied in a ponytail with a red band to match her red shoes, in her arms, she held a white designer bag.

She looked brand new, remodeled from the sad, pathetic version that begged for crumbs from anyone who showed the least bit of attention. As events would have it, she found herself a guardian in her moment of weakness.

Sebastian generously paid all her debt and gave her a new chance at a different life. One that gave peace and confidence. One which her previous life didn't award her.

"Mrs. Leerstrom, welcome to Devonte, " Faber greeted. He handed her the cup of latte. Aryanna happily accepted the cup and thanked him.

The regal treatment she received gave her goosebumps. Aryanna took a sip of the latte, she smiled in bliss. The benefits that come from the bond she shares with Sebastian amazed her.

A week ago, she was a coffee girl. Her job was to make coffee and hand it to others, little did she except that Sebastian would raise her station to the point that people fetched coffee for her.

"This way, " Faber ushered.

The bodyguards took to the side and left a straight path for Aryanna to follow. Faber took the lead, three guards followed behind him to shield Aryanna from the front. Aryanna came next after them.

She glanced up at the big building. One of the branches of the Devonte brand in the city, it was the tallest building she'd ever walked into.

The building caught her off-guard, she was aware that Carlos worked in the best company in the country. Yet, she didn't expect it to be so many stories up. Her heart shook.

The possibility of love came along in her life and opened doors to a life of luxury and respect.

The employees of the company spied on her entourage, desperately trying to get a glimpse of her. The person of interest to the thousands of employees in the building.

Aryanna sipped her latte as she sauntered to the entrance of the company. Her heart skittering with fear, the doors to the building brought her a step closer to the man who had broken her only days before.

Carlos worked at the company and they were bound to run into each other. Their standing had changed, from ex-lovers to the boss's wife and the boss's employee.

Aryanna looked forward to their meeting. To show him that her life doesn't start and end with him. His cruelty won't keep her down, she will rise to the top and he will forever be a bad chapter in her youth. One that won't leave a permanent mark on her soul.

She wished to show him and his lover that they failed to break her. She played with the fingers of her free hand. Her nerves start to act up at the thought of meeting the employees of Devonte at the Lavena branch as Sebastian's wife.

She raised her hand to her view. She stared at the ring on her finger with twenty little diamonds designed in the shape of a heart. It was a simple silver ring but Aryanna recalled when her mouth dropped when she learnt its value. Sebastian purchased a wedding ring worth twenty million for her.

The memory triggered a couple of more things that went down in the last few days. Sebastian flew them to Miric city for their wedding, she had the honor of getting married in the presence of the First Lady of the country and many more affluent members of society. Her wedding was a big deal but private. Only the invited guests were aware of the wedding and they had to sign a non-disclose agreement before getting into the wedding venue.

She wore a beautiful, white wedding gown with blue floral patches at the waistline. Her make-up was done at the Devonte beauty parlor in Miric, by the best make-up artist in the city. Her hair was held in place with silver floral circlets.

Sebastian took her passion for flowers to heart while he shopped for her attire. Aryanna walked down the aisle with her friend Dale holding her hand. White and red flower petals fell gracefully on her as she made her way to the altar.

They ceremonially took their vows and exchanged rings before Sebastian swept her off her feet with a sizzling, heart-melting, and passionate kiss.

They had their honeymoon by his beach house. A house that stretched miles and miles on the outskirts of Miric City. A glimpse at his lavish lifestyle showed her little of the life she was exposed to.

Her husband owns houses in every corner of the country. Should work call him anywhere, his stay arrangements are catered for always. And as luck would have it, she was now getting to experience firsthand all the doors money can open.

She dropped her hand, she spent a week with people referring to her by Sebastian's last name and she was yet to get used to the title.

Aryanna feared it all to be a dream. One day when she least expects it, she'll wake up and come back to reality.

"Welcome, Maam, " the employees chimed at her arrival.
