Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

Brigadier General Sebas, grappling with the weight of distressing news, muttered, "I have to call a meeting with the King as things are getting tougher, and we may soon lose contact with all other cities, which will be very detrimental for the kingdom and its people." The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on him as he disconnected the call, having received more bad news in a single day than in his entire time in active service.

Colonel Fracas, having just concluded a call, exchanged a glance with his adjutant, who awaited a positive response regarding reinforcements.

"This crisis is unfolding across the entire kingdom," he remarked, shaking his head to emphasize the severity of the issue at hand. "Extraordinary times are upon us. I hope the kingdom doesn't collapse; most major clans are already cultivating warriors, as recent information suggests."

"You can't blame them. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. My only doubt is why the King and the military court remain silent on this matter."

"I sense a vast strategy at play, a big fishing net, waiting for the significant players to step into the traps. Nevertheless, this is not our problem. One thing I'm certain of is that I'm expecting recruits from headquarters very soon to bolster our numbers before this squad of guards returns to their bases."

"Yes, Sir," the adjutant replied dutifully before swiftly leaving.

Brigadier General Sebas who was just received the last call from one of the guard posts noticed the severity of the situation and he ringed all the other high ranking military personnel.

"We have an emergency. High risk of fatality among guards. Need for instant replacement. Need for a Military Court Meeting", Brigadier General Sebas typed with his laptop sending to all personnel involved in very short sentences, as brief as he could.

VOOOOOOM.

Armored vehicles with military escorts from all over the Kingdom were making their way to the Court House. They all received the notice and the order of the King, General Commander of the Armed Forces to meet for a discussion. They all entered through a wide gate, wide enough to allow to three tanks to move comfortably simultaneously. From the gates to the walls were well protected, men armed with rifles could be seen moving up and down and every once in a while armored trucks with the  machine gun protruding from the top were seen moving around.

Soon all the high ranking military personnels gathered at the court house that was heavily guarded by the Royal Guards, the best of the best of the special forces in the Kingdom. They are the most trained and most well equipped elite that protect the Royal family and places of utmost importance to the Kingdom.

"The King is here".

All military personnel instantly stopped whatever they were doing and stood up, making the attention pose.

The King, King Henry Sebas III entered flanked with men armed to the teeth.

"You can all seat", King Henry said after he sat down.

The Generals made their place to their chairs while the Defense Chiefs made their way to the stage to join the king at the high table. Brigadier General Sebas also joined them, although he was no one of the security chiefs but who made him one of the royal princes well loved by the King and very likely to be appointed as a Security Chief when one of these old men retire from service.

The light in the hall was dimmed as the meeting was about to begin.

"Report", the King said in a stiff tone to Brigadier General Sebas not minding the fact that he is his son.

"Report was received from all Level 1 cities about the fatality recorded on account of their journey to the cities for Education and Economic purposes. These reports have been analyzed and are ...", Brigadier General Sebas said as he pressed the remote that has been in his hand to the giant screen.

All personnel present studied the tables and graphs and the whole hall was silent for few minutes.

"HHHHHMMN", deep breath were being taken all over the hall as the fatality rate and the injury ratel deducted from the graphs and tables was alarming.

"This is the reason why the meeting was called", Brigadier General Sebas said when he saw that virtually everyone has finished reading from the screen except from the people on the high table who were still engrossed in the tablet they were holding, reading the displayed data plus the pictures of new beast encountered and the video if the fight sent by some cities.

"What do we do?" King Henry Sebas threw a question to them.

"I suggest we replenish them with recruits and guards with some alloy weapons that they would have advantage when combatting this beast".

"Military Research Laboratory, anything for us?"

"We have been unable to crack the gene sequence of this beast but the only thing we can see on research is that this beast have not evolved, they are just evolving - that is the bad news."

"Aarh", most of the men exclaimed. This was bad news, doom was impending.

"The good news is that following the close down of the airport, both military and civilian due to the harassment of the flying beasts. We have successfully built a batch of Planes using the mixture of our best alloy metals and the bones of the beasts, they have been tested and can successfully travel long distances."

The discussion that started in the evening ventured into very late at night, the main decision made was reinforce the city guards before their return to their respective guard posts.

The meeting finished and all the military personnel swung into action.

The Generals in charge of training of recruits quickly organized their men,  briefing them on the critical situation and the urgency of their deployment.

"Time is of the essence, soldiers. We need to transport you swiftly to the city," General Ruse declared, a sense of urgency in his tone.

"We'll be utilizing transport jets to ensure a rapid and secure journey. Each one of you plays a vital role in maintaining the stability of the kingdom and we wish you a safe journey".

"All that you have been thought will need to be practiced. Remember! Obey the Last Command".

"Yes Sir", they all chorused.

The recruits, understanding the gravity of the situation, promptly boarded the waiting transport jets. The engines roared to life, and the sleek aircraft soared into the sky, bound for the city. As they flew, the recruits mentally prepared themselves for the challenges ahead, determined to stand strong in the face of adversity and safeguard the kingdom they served.

"I wish they all survive", General Ruse saif to one of his colleagues as he saw the people ha has been training for months disappearing with the jets.
