Chapter 28 - Malacai Step Parents

"That's true. We lose nothing anyway," Lilith smiles, her hand then caressing Alaric's face.

"It seems you want to do it now?" Her voice turns sultry as she feels the growing desire in Alaric.

Alaric grins and grips the cleavage of both beauties. Soon, the terrace is filled with loud moans of pleasure.

Back on the road, Nerissa and Malacai's car stops at a red light. It's already nighttime, and the sun has set.

She glances at him, busy with his new phone.

Seeing her expression, Malacai smirked. "Why look at me like that? If you want to say something, just say it. It's not like I'll bite you."

'You don't bite, you're worse,' she thought. "Mom asked me when we will go back and what you want to eat."

Malacai then remembers the delicious meal he had before, looking forward to tasting it again soon. "Anything will do; it shouldn't take long, one or two hours at most."

"If… if you don't mind me asking, how did you end up being adopted by them?" Nerissa's voice is stuttering.

"You really are scared of me, haha. Well, haven't you heard what I told Mom before?"

Nerissa still finds it odd that Malacai calls her mother 'Mom,' but she nods in agreement.

"But you didn't tell us about your life in the orphanage and how you ended up being adopted by them."

"Well, they came acting like a loving couple and then got the adoption."

"They chose me because I was probably the most frail, so they wouldn't need to worry about me retaliating."

His smile turns into an evil grin, "And now, I will show them how wrong their choice was."

Nerissa shudders again, recalling what he did with that expression to Darius.

She snaps out of her trance when the car behind them starts honking.

As the car continued on its way, Malacai looked out at the road, remembering a similar path he had taken that day.

After being thrown out like trash, Malacai lived on the streets for a few days.

But with his frail body, life on the streets was even more cruel for him, and he barely managed to get anything to eat.

One day, a civil service staff member found him and brought him to an orphanage.

His life in the orphanage was like heaven, but it only lasted for a week.

That day, a young couple came to the orphanage looking to adopt.

The woman had the look of a model, with a sexy figure and C-cup breasts.

The man with her, though, looked very different; he was burly and tall with tanned skin. He also had a wound on his face that made him appear scary.

They introduced themselves to Malacai, both of them smiling.

The man said he was an ex-soldier and had already resigned.

His wife worked at an insurance company. The person responsible for the orphanage checked their documents, and everything seemed in order.

She agreed to let them take Malacai, even though the documents were still being processed, as they had donated a significant sum of money to the orphanage.

Some of the sponsors also vouched for them.

Malacai packed a few clothes, the only thing he had, before leaving with them.

But as they entered the car, their expressions quickly changed.

The man looked at Malacai with sharp eyes.

"Hey, kid, I don't care what you want; you just need to do what we tell you to do without any questions. Do you understand?"

Malacai frowned at their change in attitude but quickly nodded in agreement.

The burly man then looked at the woman, "Are you sure he's worth it, Sabrina? Even with the money from the government, we won't make any profit."

"What do you know, you're just brawn without brain. Some of those rich men sympathize more with a single mother."

"You just need to show up and threaten them when I tell you to, like usual. And why are you complaining? It's all my money anyway," Sabrina retorted.

Hearing Sabrina's words, the man fell silent.

Upon reaching the woman's home, Sabrina pointed to an empty corner in the kitchen.

The area was small, barely enough for an adult to lay down, with a rug on the floor and some mops and cleaning tools perched on the walls.

"You will sleep there from now on. We don't care what you do as long as you don't disturb us and follow what we tell you."

Malacai's eyes widened, then turned cold as he looked at Sabrina and the man.

Seeing his expression, the man didn't like it; seeing his handsome face made him even angrier.

BAM! He hit Malacai in the face, and Malacai was thrown to the floor. "You answer with 'yes' when we tell you to."

SLAP!

Sabrina suddenly slapped the man. "What the hell are you thinking? Don't hit him. Haven't you read the document?"

"His body is frail. If something happens to him, we lose money. And you even hit him in the face. That's the biggest reason I chose him."

The man lowered his head, not daring to fight back against Sabrina.

Observing this, Malacai smirked, which made the man even angrier, but this time, he restrained himself, keeping his anger bottled up.

Sabrina then turned to Malacai, "You will go to school starting next week. Don't you dare skip a single day?"

After saying that, Sabrina left him alone. The man frowned, already planning to hit Malacai again.

That night, Malacai couldn't sleep, pondering how to escape his predicament, tasting the metallic flavor in his mouth.

Time passed, and his life once again turned into hell.

He tried to run away many times, but each time, the man would catch him and start beating him.

Malacai suspected the man let him have the chance to escape on purpose, just so he had a justification to hit him.

They then started noticing Malacai's peculiar condition.

As long as it was just a normal bruise, his body would heal back to normal, and despite his weak body, he never got sick.
