Seraphina walked over to him and did as he said. She started to feed him the soup gently, blowing the steam before taking the spoon up to his mouth.
Lucian watched her with so much interest before slowly extending his hand out to pull away the strands of hair on her face behind her ear. "You look beautiful." As soon as the words came from his mouth, the spoon in her hands fell and she looked at him, stunned. "What's wrong?"
"No… nothing." She hurriedly picked up the spoon, rushed over to the water to washbasin and rinsed out the spoon.
As she stood there, Lucian looked over at his phone which just beeped with a bright red light. As he reached out to check the phone, his senses hightened and looked straight at Seraphina who had three red dots on her side as she stood there.
"Fuck…" As soon as Lucian stood up, his ears picked the silent sound of bullets coming from a distance and the window's glass shattering.
Everything seemed to play in slow motion as Lucian pulled Seraphina by her waist and two of the bullets slowly graced her back, making her gasp. "Seraphina." He called as he fell to the ground with her.
Sounds of gunshots and glass shattering filled the room in less than a second. The firing didn't cease as Lucian pushed Seraphina over to the cover of the sofa, going in after her. "Damn… they already figured out I'm here."
"What… what's going on…?" Seraphina asked as she grabbed her chest, finding it difficult to breathe in the unsettling environment. She tried to reach out for her bag but it was far away from where they were.
"Seraphina, hold on a second." Lucian assured her with a hint of worry in his voice. He didn't expect them to attack him at all and he wondered why he didn't feel their presence in the first place till they attacked. "What's going on?"
He grabbed her bag, dashing back to where she was sitting before he pulled out a gun from his pocket. "They have cut off all connections, it was a planned attack. Stay here and stay calm okay?" She nodded as she forced down the pills from her pill bottle and he aimed his gun at the first man his sharp gaze landed on.
The door barged open and gunshots were fired from Lucian's men coming into the hospital room. Lucian rushed over to Seraphina who was losing her consciousness already. "Seraphina." He lifted her in his arms as he found an opening to take her out of the noise filled room. "Hold on, I'll get us out of here."
He carried her in his arms as he dashed out of the room. "Gabriel, can you copy?" He said but the buds in his ears were busy malfunctioning. "Gabriel, arrange the car if you can hear me."
Lucian dashed into the parking lot and it was unusually quiet and he could tell something was wrong. Suddenly gunshots came from nowhere. He hurriedly shielded Seraphina with his body but more were fired all together. He tried his best to cover her but it hit her arms and she immediately fell unconscious.
"I've had enough of this nonsense." Lucian thundered and the whole building shook along with his voice. The shade of his eyes turned deep red and in a split second, a few dead bodies were lying on the ground while the others hurriedly retreated.
Lucian rushed over to Seraphina, placing her into his car, securing the seatbelt. "Your highness, can you hear me now?" Gabriel's voice finally came from the earbuds. "Should we follow the men?"
"No. Get her father to the clan's hospital. No one would be able to disturb his treatments there. Ask some people to go over to her place and bring everything there to my mansion." Lucian said and Gabriella looked shocked at his last statement. He had never taken anyone to his mansion except his men.
"You're taking her there, your highness?" Gabriel asked as Lucian got into the car and ignited the engine of the car.
"Yes. She was the one they wanted to attack first. She will be much safer there." Lucian replied, maneuvering the car out of the parking lot. The car slid into the already quiet street because of the attacks.
Eight car that looked exactly like his drove right next to him and they switched lanes a few times, knowing the enemies might be watching them leave.
Lucian drove into a quiet forest at high speed. He had to get Seraphina to the mansion to get her treatment from the shot she took.
Lucian's car drove into a large mansion, standing the the middle of the forest, detached from the city. No one could ever know the house existed in the kind of place.
"His highness is home with a guest."
"Lucian, did you bring your girlfriend home?" A feminine voice came from the door as soon as Lucian got out of the car.
