Chapter 226 - Chapter 226: Strange Phone Call.

After dinner, the three of them prepared to go to the train station.

Tang Weiwei wanted to take the bus, but Xu Xiuwen insisted on taking a taxi, giving Tang Weiwei no chance to refuse.

Yang Baishan didn't care either way.

They arrived at Jinling Train Station a little past six.

The snow was lighter than at noon, but heavier than in the morning.

Due to the snow, travelers were flocking into the station.

The three of them mingled with the crowd and walked towards the station.

Xu Xiuwen, afraid that Tang Weiwei might get lost, took her hand, keeping her close.

After some time, they finally entered the station.

The train Yang Baishan and Tang Weiwei were taking was K6xx, scheduled to depart at 20:08.

With over an hour to go before departure and the train not yet at the station, the three of them had to wait in the waiting area.

At 6:30, Xu Xiuwen received a text message.

It was from Cheng Lu, informing him that she had arrived at Hangzhou Station.

Xu Xiuwen glanced at Tang Weiwei, quickly typed, "Remember to take a taxi home. Let me know when you get home."

After sending the message, Xu Xiuwen put his phone away.

He turned to Tang Weiwei and said, "Weiwei, when you get to Chengdu Station, brother Yang will see you onto the train to Chongqing. Once you arrive in Chongqing, you must tell me immediately, otherwise, I'll worry. Do you understand?"

Tang Weiwei looked up at him and nodded.

Xu Xiuwen continued, "When you get to Chongqing, don't hesitate to take a taxi. It's so cold; get home quickly so I can be at ease."

Tang Weiwei nodded again.

Seeing her only nodding, Xu Xiuwen couldn't help but say, "Don't brush me off. If I find out you didn't listen, I'll really be upset."

Tang Weiwei then said, "I'll listen to you."

Xu Xiuwen smiled and patted her head.

Before they knew it, the train had arrived.

Xu Xiuwen took Tang Weiwei's hand and called Yang Baishan to board the train.

The ticket Xu Xiuwen bought for Tang Weiwei was a regular hard seat.

It's not that he was unwilling to buy her a sleeper ticket, but Tang Weiwei insisted on a seat ticket and even gave him the money for it.

Xu Xiuwen knew Tang Weiwei didn't like to take advantage of others and was quite frugal, so he didn't force her to take a sleeper.

After all, it's just one night, and having a seat should be fine.

Yang Baishan also had a hard seat, but their seats were not next to each other, but across the aisle.

Tang Weiwei's seat was by the window.

Xu Xiuwen placed her bag under her seat.

The carriage was crowded, with everyone carrying large bags, finding their seats according to their tickets.

Soon, a girl about the same age as Xu Xiuwen and the others came over with a suitcase.

She looked at the seat numbers and finally stopped beside Tang Weiwei.

The girl said happily, "This is it."

Then she sat down next to Tang Weiwei.

Xu Xiuwen had originally planned to wait a bit longer before getting off, but seeing that he was in the way, he said to Tang Weiwei, "I'll head off now."

He then said to Yang Baishan, "Brother Yang, please take care of Weiwei."

Yang Baishan assured him, "Don't worry, Xiuwen. I'll make sure Tang Weiwei gets on the train safely."

After getting off the train, Xu Xiuwen didn't leave immediately but walked to the window where Tang Weiwei was seated.

Tang Weiwei happened to be looking at him.

They exchanged glances, and Xu Xiuwen smiled and waved, then made a phone gesture.

Tang Weiwei sniffed, feeling a bit sad.

She nodded to show she understood.

Soon, the train departed.

As it pulled away with a whistle, Tang Weiwei's neighboring girl, seeing they were about the same age and having witnessed the earlier scene, asked with a smile, "Was that handsome guy your boyfriend?"

Yang Baishan also perked up, curious about how Tang Weiwei would respond.

Tang Weiwei turned to the girl and shook her head, "No, we're just good friends."

The girl chuckled, "Really? He looked at you so affectionately. I thought he was your boyfriend."

Tang Weiwei didn't explain further.

Yang Baishan, sitting across, was puzzled by her answer.

They had seemed quite close earlier.

Can good friends really be this close nowadays?

It was the third time Xu Xiuwen had come out of the train station today.

Flagging down a taxi, he told the driver to go to Jiangling College and then leaned against the window, quietly enjoying the night view.

The car stopped at the north gate of Jiangling College.

Xu Xiuwen paid the fare and got out.

The once-bustling snack street was unusually quiet tonight.

Only a few stalls remained open, and business was slow.

Xu Xiuwen returned to his dormitory.

Opening the door, the dormitory was pitch dark. He turned on the light, and the room was empty.

Xu Xiuwen felt a bit uneasy.

Having sent off Cheng Lu and Tang Weiwei today, he planned to go home tomorrow.

Whether he left at noon or in the afternoon depended on the weather, how much the snow had melted, and how late he slept.

Sitting in his chair, he reflected on what he had done this semester and the people he had met.

He finally thought about his bank balance and smiled.

He had sold the first broadcast rights of his TV series to Jiangsu TV.

The process went quickly.

The money had arrived two days ago.

As the sole investor of the series, all the profits naturally went to him.

Now his bank account had over ten million yuan.

The joy from having ten million temporarily dispelled the sadness of parting with Cheng Lu and Tang Weiwei.

Soon it was 9:30.

Xu Xiuwen decided to soak his feet and then go to bed.

Just as he returned to his dorm with a basin of water, his phone on the table rang.

Xu Xiuwen put down the basin, walked over, and saw it was an unfamiliar number.

He had been bothered by girls calling him a lot recently, so he was a bit annoyed.

After hesitating, he finally pressed the answer button.

"Hello!"

"Your girlfriend is drunk. Come and pick her up," said a middle-aged man's voice.

Xu Xiuwen was stunned.

His girlfriend?

Xu Xiuwen first thought of Cheng Lu.

But that couldn't be; Cheng Lu had already arrived home and had texted him around 8 PM.

Then he thought of Tang Weiwei.

But Tang Weiwei was on the train.

Xu Xiuwen hesitated, "Who are you? You must have the wrong number."

The middle-aged man paused for a second, then confirmed the number.

Xu Xiuwen heard it and confirmed it was his number.

The man asked, "Are you Xu Xiuwen? This is your number, right? I'm the owner of Hongxing Restaurant. Your girlfriend is drunk. She gave me this number. Come pick her up. Oh, she's here..."

The man seemed busy and hung up after speaking.
