Cheng Lu stared at him for a few seconds before suddenly turning her head away and saying, "Alright, but you can't misbehave during the day."
Xu Xiuwen replied helplessly, "Do I seem that untrustworthy to you?"
Cheng Lu rolled her eyes at his reflection in the mirror, "Who knows how many tricks you have up your sleeve. I need to observe you more."
Xu Xiuwen's expression remained calm.
He chuckled mischievously, "Observe more? Isn't it a bit late for that? We've already kissed."
Cheng Lu responded without hesitation, "Of course I need to observe you. I'll be watching you for a lifetime. If you ever do anything to hurt me, you're done for."
Xu Xiuwen felt a tightness in his chest but then gazed at Cheng Lu affectionately and said, "A lifetime isn't enough. We need at least another lifetime, and the one after that."
"Sweet talker. I don't believe a word you say."
Although Cheng Lu said this, she was smiling more happily than anyone.
Xu Xiuwen kept an eye on the time, and before it reached 9:30, he offered to take Cheng Lu back to her dormitory.
When they arrived at the girls' dormitory building, he was about to leave.
Cheng Lu suddenly called out to him, "Wait for me a moment."
She quickly ran into the dormitory building.
In less than two minutes, she returned, holding a fluffy black item.
Xu Xiuwen guessed it must be the scarf she mentioned.
Cheng Lu ran up to Xu Xiuwen, handed him the scarf, and said, "I knitted this scarf for you. It's not very good, but you can't dislike it."
As she spoke, her cheeks were a bit red. It was unclear if it was from running or from nervousness.
Xu Xiuwen took the scarf, glanced at it, and immediately put it around his neck.
He praised, "This scarf is great, and it's very warm."
Although Cheng Lu knew he was saying it to make her happy, she was still very pleased.
"As long as you don't dislike it. I'm going back to the dormitory now. You should head back soon too."
"Okay."
Although Xu Xiuwen agreed to go back soon, after parting with Cheng Lu, he didn't head straight back to Jiangling but instead waited outside the Sichuan restaurant on North Street.
At 10 o'clock, Tang Weiwei finally came out of the restaurant.
She walked quickly up to Xu Xiuwen, smiling sweetly, "Xu Xiuwen, you're here."
Tang Weiwei was in a good mood, and her smile was contagious, making Xu Xiuwen smile as well.
He reached out and ruffled her hair, "Are you hungry?"
They had eaten dinner early in the afternoon, and now it was already 10 PM, so Xu Xiuwen asked out of concern.
Tang Weiwei shook her head.
Xu Xiuwen didn't question her further. He took her hand and led her to the food stalls, saying, "I'm hungry. Come eat something with me."
Both their dormitories closed at 10 PM.
The street was almost empty, with some food stalls starting to pack up.
Xu Xiuwen took Tang Weiwei to a food stall selling clams, sat down, and ordered a serving of clams.
"Was your part-time job tiring tonight?" Xu Xiuwen asked with concern.
Tang Weiwei smiled, "Not tiring at all."
Xu Xiuwen maintained his caring tone, "If you ever feel tired, let me know. We can quit the job. I don't want you to exhaust yourself."
Tang Weiwei was very touched and nodded obediently, "I understand. Don't worry."
Soon, the stall owner brought over the clams.
Xu Xiuwen immediately picked one up, extracted the meat, and brought it to Tang Weiwei's mouth.
She wanted to refuse.
Xu Xiuwen didn't say anything, just kept smiling at her with his hand held out.
Tang Weiwei hesitated for a moment, then finally opened her mouth and ate the clam meat Xu Xiuwen offered.
Xu Xiuwen, in a tone like he was coaxing a child, praised her, "Good girl."
Then he asked, "Is it tasty?"
Tang Weiwei nodded.
"If it's tasty, eat more."
When Xu Xiuwen offered her another clam, she refused.
Tang Weiwei shook her head and said, "You should eat too. Aren't you hungry?"
"Okay, I'll eat too. Let's eat together."
They quickly finished the delicious clams.
As soon as Xu Xiuwen put down his chopsticks, Tang Weiwei immediately grabbed a napkin and handed it to him.
Xu Xiuwen took the napkin, wiped his mouth, then got up to pay.
Finally, he took Tang Weiwei's hand and walked her back to her dormitory.
The next day was Sunday, and Xu Xiuwen could have slept in.
But he had promised Tang Weiwei to go to the library with her, so he had to get up early.
The library opened at 6:30.
Xu Xiuwen got up at 7 and arrived at the library at 8.
Even at 8, the library was already packed.
With exams approaching, all students, regardless of year, were facing the challenge of not failing their courses.
Thinking about his five roommates still sleeping in the dorm, Xu Xiuwen felt a bit helpless.
He couldn't worry about them and could only take care of himself.
No matter what, even if he passed every subject with just 60 points, he couldn't afford to fail.
Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to face his Counselor or Secretary Li.
Finding a seat in the library was a real challenge unless you arrived very early.
But Xu Xiuwen wasn't worried because Tang Weiwei had arrived early and saved him a spot.
He found Tang Weiwei on the third floor, in a corner.
She wasn't alone; her three roommates were there too.
Xu Xiuwen felt a bit disappointed but understood it was normal. Tang Weiwei wouldn't leave her roommates to study alone with him.
After a brief greeting with the three girls, Xu Xiuwen sat down next to Tang Weiwei.
As soon as he sat down, he leaned over and asked, "Weiwei, did you have breakfast? Don't lie to me. Did you just eat a bun?"
Tang Weiwei had indeed only eaten a bun.
She couldn't lie, so she nodded in admission.
Xu Xiuwen grinned, "Guess what I brought."
He took out a white plastic bag from his pocket, containing two steaming buns.
The buns were still warm.
Tang Weiwei was startled, her body tensing up as she quickly covered the buns with her hand, "How did you bring food in? You're not allowed to eat in the library."
Xu Xiuwen explained, "I was worried you didn't eat enough breakfast."
Tang Weiwei was very touched but also very nervous, afraid someone would see Xu Xiuwen with the food.
"Put it away quickly. I've already eaten."
"I know you ate, but one bun isn't enough. Eat these two buns."
Tang Weiwei tried to push them away, but Xu Xiuwen kept insisting.
As they pushed and pulled, a boy happened to walk by.
Tang Weiwei was so nervous that her body suddenly straightened up.
