Arriving off the field, Dong Jun exclaimed excitedly, "Damn, you guys played really well, leaving the Chinese department students completely dumbfounded! Hahaha."
Others laughed heartily at his words.
Yang Baishan, feeling quite pleased with himself, asked, "Wasn't my goal impressive?"
Usually one to tease him, Liu Zhihao, changed his tune this time, giving him a thumbs up and said, "Old Yang, you played really well. If I were a girl, I'd date you."
Yang Baishan glanced him up and down, his expression turning awkward, "I'll pass, you'd still be too ugly even if you were a girl!"
The crowd burst into laughter at his words once again.
Liu Zhihao, embarrassed and angry, went straight for his throat, shouting, "Who are you calling ugly!"
The atmosphere was exciting on the side of the Management and Engineering Department, while the students from the Chinese Department looked dejected after being beaten 3:0. A lot of girls from their department came to watch. So they felt utterly embarrassed in front of their female classmates.
No one from the Management and Engineering Department cared about the mood of the Chinese Department students.
Dong Jun waved his hand grandly and said, "Let's go, let's eat at the restaurant. Tonight, my treat."
A game of football had tightly united these group of eighteen-year-old boys, and not a single one objected to going.
However, Jin Haonan still stepped forward and said, "Dong Jun, you go first. We'll go back and take a shower; we're all sweaty."
Dong Jun smiled and asked, "Brother Hao, you barely ran, why are you sweating?"
Upon hearing this, everyone laughed.
Jin Haonan wryly smiled and said, "I won't shower. Old Yang and the others need it more, can't you see they're drenched in sweat?"
Dong Jun nodded, "Alright, I'll go to the restaurant first, order the food, and wait for you guys. You guys hurry up."
"That's settled then."
Yang Baishan's friends from the countryside weren't students of Jiangling College, so it would be a waste of time for them to go back to their school to shower and then come back. So Yang Baishan told them to shower in his dorm.
Since they had clothes and could use the soap and shampoo in Room 412, it was convenient.
The group arrived at the dorm with laughter and chatter.
Because there were only four showers, only four people could shower at a time.
Yang Baishan and his four friends had exerted themselves on the court, so they were all sweating heavily, hence they were allowed to shower first.
Xu Xiuwen and the others waited in the dorm.
During the wait, they discussed the game they had just played.
As participants, although they hadn't personally scored goals, the excitement of winning was shared among them.
Wang Juncai excitedly said, "Old Yang, you're really accurate with your shots. Those Chinese majors were completely bewildered by you!"
Yang Baishan laughed heartily, "If I hadn't hidden my skills, I feel like we could have beaten them 100:0!"
Jin Haonan couldn't help but remark, "Are you playing basketball? If you really beat them 100:0, you'd be famous, but for all the wrong reasons. The Chinese major students would definitely curse you."
Yang Baishan recoiled, "Well, maybe not then."
Liu Zhihao noticed that Shi Xiangming had been quiet the whole time and asked with concern, "What's wrong, Old Shi? Aren't you happy we won?"
Shi Xiangming shook his head, "Of course, I'm happy we won. I'm just a little disappointed."
"Disappointed about what?"
"I told Yue'er we had a game today, but she didn't come."
Yang Baishan got anxious upon hearing this, "It's one thing if the girls from our major are unreliable, but how can Old Shi's fiancée be unreliable too? If even a fiancée doesn't show up to watch her partner play, what does that say?"
His words weren't wrong, but the timing was off. At least he shouldn't have said it in front of Shi Xiangming, as it would make him feel embarrassed.
Jin Haonan quickly tried to remedy the situation, shouting at Yang Baishan, "Old Yang, hold your tongue. Bai Yue'er might have had something come up. Don't make assumptions. Plus, the reason the girls from our class didn't come today is because Dong Jun didn't inform them. If the girls hear you, they might think we're blaming them for something."
Yang Baishan grumbled, "Why though? Why didn't Dong Jun inform the girls in our class? None of the girls from the other three majors came either."
Jin Haonan continued, "Dong Jun and I have discussed this matter, and I agree with his approach. Don't forget, we have people from other schools among us. If they are discovered, the game might be canceled."
Yang Baishan, though still annoyed, understood the logic behind Jin Haonan's words and remained silent.
However, Shi Xiangming suddenly interjected, "I can't blame Old Yang for not understanding. I can't understand it myself, and I'm quite angry too. I told Yue'er that I would be playing and hoped she would come watch me, but not only did she not come, she didn't even offer an explanation."
The room fell silent after Shi Xiangming's statement.
What Shi Xiangming said was true, it was okay if the other girls didn't come.
Bai Yue'er is Shi Xiangming's fiancée. As a fiancée, there was no reason for her not to come to her fiancé's game without any explanation.
Liu Zhihao couldn't help but say, "Old Shi, why don't you give Bai Yue'er a call and ask her why she didn't come to watch your game."
"Old Liu, don't stir up trouble," Jin Haonan immediately rebuked.
Feeling the gaze of his roommates, Shi Xiangming looked at Jin Haonan and said, "Brother Hao, don't blame Brother Liu. Honestly, I just can't understand it. It's one thing to be moody and stubborn usually, but she's unwilling to come watch me play. It's really disappointing. No, I have to give her a call and ask for a reasonable explanation."
"Old Shi, don't act impulsively," Jin Haonan quickly advised.
Shi Xiangming had had enough of being upset these days, and now, in front of his roommates again, he felt like he had no face left. He couldn't swallow this anger.
Shi Xiangming took out his phone and directly pressed the speakerphone button, calling Bai Yue'er in front of his roommates.
"Ring ring ring..."
The phone kept ringing, but nobody answered. Shi Xiangming's face grew increasingly ugly, like pig liver. Just as he was about to explode, the phone finally connected.
"Hello?"
The sweet voice of Bai Yue'er came through the speaker.
"It's me, Yue'er."
"I know it's you."
There was a hint of laziness in Bai Yue'er's voice, as if she had just woken up.
Shi Xiangming also noticed and asked, "Yue'er, did you just wake up?"
"Yeah, what's up?"
Hearing that Bai Yue'er had just woken up, Shi Xiangming felt a bit relieved.
He found an excuse for her, thinking she overslept in the afternoon because she was too tired.
"Yue'er, I had a match this afternoon. Did you not come because you overslept?" Shi Xiangming unconsciously left her a way out.
As long as Bai Yue'er went along with his words, he could save face, and his roommates wouldn't say anything.
But to his surprise, Bai Yue'er paused for a second and suddenly said, "I don't want to go, and besides, you don't even play soccer. Why should I go watch you lose?"
The words "It's okay" were almost about to come out of Shi Xiangming's mouth, but they were choked back because of her response.
Shi Xiangming's face turned even uglier.
