The next morning, Trisha was on her way to the office, her thoughts still lingering on Dashiell. She felt a rush of excitement thinking about their evening together, and she couldn't wait to see him again.
She arrived at the office, and was surprised to find Jazlyn waiting for her.
"Good morning," Trisha greeted her, hoping that the morning would be a smooth one.
"Ma'am," Jazlyn responded, her expression neutral. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"
Trisha's stomach twisted in knots. "Of course. What's up?"
Jazlyn sighed, a serious look on her face. "Look, I'm not going to beat around the bush. I'm just going to come right out and say it. Are you and Dashiell involved?"
Trisha's eyes widened. "What? No, we're not. What gave you that impression?"
"Well, you spent an awful lot of time at his house yesterday," Jazlyn pointed out.
"I did. But it wasn't like that. We were just hanging out," Trisha said defensively.
