Chapter 13 - Killing Hobo(goblins)

With the five adventurers working together, they were able to kill almost one hundred goblins. Yet, the numbers seemed to not decrease even as their kill count reached the triple digits.

"How are they so many times?" Lisa shouted as she used her dagger to stab a goblin that came close. She already used all of her arrows and so is forced to become a close-range combatant.

As for the blonde, she is resting, the overuse of magic caused her to have a headache, trying to regain her mana.

As for the swordswoman, she also resting. After all, she had been fighting goblins for almost an hour, her stamina while good, is finite.

The two girls that fight in close combat also sustained some injuries, grazes on their legs making it hard for them to move, as well as limps from when some goblins crashed into them and causing Lisa's ankle to twist while badly injuring Ana

"Another question is," Ana said, "how can they still keep on going?" she pointed at the two.

Ian is firing Arcane Shots with precision, taking down the enemies' long-range attackers while Kell takes out the one that gets close.

They probably had been fighting longer than they did but they seemed to not tire at all. If not for sweat forming on their forehead, Ana would have thought they were not human.

As they killed more and more goblins, the numbers seemed to actually drop, as fewer goblins began to appear.

The girls let out a sigh of relief. If the battle continued any longer, they didn't think the boys could keep going.

However, as the girls began to rest easy, the boys became more and more nervous.

"Ian, are there any monsters that could lead a hundred goblins?" Kell asked warily, despite no goblins appearing.

"There are many monsters that could lead a large number of goblins. But if I have to guess, it's a hobo-" They heard a loud roar as a big green-skinned creature, bigger than the goblins, walked towards them.

"-goblin," he finished lamely.

"Why is there a hobgoblin here?!" Ana screamed hysterically. After all, a hobgoblin is a monster that requires a D-rank Adventurer or many E-rankers to deal with it.

However, the nightmares did not end there as 3 more hobgoblins appeared in front of them. "It's all over," Lisa said with despair, her eyes dimmed as she could see their fate. To be used by goblins as breeder, and forced to give birth to goblins.

As the girls begin to despair, Ian and Kell keep a calm face even as they stare at the 4 big creatures. If goblin is small, the size of a child, hobgoblin is bigger, the size of an adult man, but more stocky.

They only stood a bit taller than him, so Kell was bigger than them. However, with four hobgoblins, it would be hard for them to defeat the creatures, with the girls being unable to help.

Looking at each other, Ian stares at him, telling the former jock of his plan without speaking. The other boy nodded before he charged at one of the hobgoblins.

The charge took the creature by surprise, looking at the charging boy in shock. Except, for the last minute, Kell changed the target and stabbed at another hobgoblin, his sword piercing the neck of the creature before a swing severed it from its body.

As for the one that was not charged by Kell, it did not last long before a powerful Arcane Shot made a hole in its body, and the large creature fell to the ground.

With two being killed instantly, the two hobgoblins step back, clearly wary of the two people. Before their small brains could form a plan, Kell slashed at one of the hobgoblins.

Learning something from how the others die, it blocked the attack while the other hobgoblin charged at Ian, who had moved further from the girls.

"So, it sees me as a threat, good to know," Ian sarcastically said before casting Shield at himself.

The creature swung its club, ready to bash the troublesome being. Yet, the club smashed into the Shield, making the hobgoblin staggered.

As the creature staggered, Ian fired two Arcane Shots at its joint. It pierced the creature's knees, the hobgoblin screamed in pain as it began to fall.

Ian ran away, keeping his distance. Yet, even with its knees having holes in them, the creature seemed to be able to move, yet it was hard for it to do.

Not saying another word, another set of shots hit its legs, turning the left one into a bloody stump, making it fall on its side.

With the hobgoblin unable to move, or at least unable to move properly, it became a sitting duck.

While Ian could end it with a powerful Arcane Shot, he planned to experiment on the monsters first.

He began to gather the mana required to fire Arcane Shot, but instead of releasing it, he kept on going, the mana used to create Arcane Shot becoming more and more unstable.

When he was about to reach his limit, he unleashed the powerful blast, the Arcane Sho-, no, Arcane Blast tore through the hobgoblin, removing its upper half with ease.

After firing Arcane Blast, Ian staggered before falling on all four, as he tried to catch his breath.

"Note to self, don't use for battle until further experiment is done," Ian told himself, feeling the mana in the air.

He quickly focused on the feeling, before he started to sense something. He focused on it, before a dim light, or at least that is what he felt, entered his vision.

He searched for the source, before looking at the magician. His eyes went wide as he realized, he had just detected the magician's mana.

Seeing the announcement, he almost smiled as he learned two more skills, and he did not even have to use points for it.

He planned to check it after they returned to their room. Ian then turned towards Kell, who had been playing with the hobgoblin. The boy did not suffer any injuries while the hobgoblin lost all of this limb, trying to make the stump of its arm in the hope of hitting something.

Seeing how Ian was already done with his enemies, Kell stabbed the creature's head, killing it instantly.

Without exchanging words, they began to search for the magic core. After all, they killed more than 100 hundred goblins, as well as 4 hobgoblins.

If they did not get at least 100 silvers, he would kill the receptionist.
