Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 We Shall Rebuild

We Shall Rebuild

The birth of a new life is always a joyful occasion, but the loss of life can be a challenging transition. The hybrid clan members of hog hill were thrilled to hear the good news from their majesties, yet they still felt the lingering sadness from the recent deaths of the wildebeest and leopard kingdoms. For some it would be weeks before the pain in their hearts began to lessen. Memories surrounded them, both inside and out. On a brighter note, the excitement over the new piglets was bringing a joyous distraction to everyone in the kingdom. Everyone wanted to hold and see the newborns. It had been quite a season since royalty had been birthed. Queen Hazel had bounced back nicely and was once again her cheerful and lively self. Purk himself was different in a positive way, leading his clan with renewed energy for life. He held the twins in his arms often, speaking to them as if they could already respond. He adored how their bright round eyes would look into his and how he made them smile no matter what he said to them.

Purk would tell them, "You came into this world to learn from your mistakes, dear ones, and to make a difference as you grow."

Every morning, He would personally recite positive affirmations to himself, and gently speak to them over his babes as they nestled against him. Feeling safe and secure they would emit small gentle grunts. Purk was constantly amazed by how small and precious they were to him. How could something so precious come from him. He credited them all to is bride Hazel. They had her beauty and fair skin, not like his own. He admired his father Mucks sense of pride, often reminiscing about his youth as a young warthog. So many wonderful memories to reflect on. He had an incredible youth growing up in his clan, Purk was excited to give the same to his twins. He cherished every moment with his wife and piglets. Additionally, he found joy in the company of good friends, such as Zarda. He was surrounded by goodness, and it was all consuming. Purk was thrilled that the kingdoms had united since the floods had dissipated. He enjoyed working closely with his friend. Together, they led the new kingdom as one team, working hard to rebuild an impenetrable castle. King Mosiya's parade focused on creating a section for weapon forging, while Purk's clan built spacious huts behind the castle walls for locals not in royal lineage. The giraffe herd often lent their help, joining forces to construct a strong fortified fortress. The cheetahs and Black mane pride worked on a watering system and garden, and the eagle colony built a bird tower nearby, keeping a watchful eye for any enemies.

Many of the Hybrids who had separated themselves or joined their own kingdoms willingly offered their help in constructing Zarda's realm, but they were in need of rebuilding a safe haven of their own. Zarda's main fortress would serve as the Kings gathering place for crucial kingdom meetings. It was important to treat it with respect and care. Even the crocodiles now held a newfound reverence for Zarda, a level of respect no lion King had ever earned among the unpredictable reptiles. King Sefu brought tribute to Zarda, he and his crocodile hybrids gratefully helped in any way they could, to ensure their new leaders' safety.

"King Zarda, I will do whatever you ask of me. I am grateful that you did not leave me to my own stubbornness. Your Elohim has granted you favor, and I can see his mighty influence. My gods are unable to perform the miracles he can. May he always be blessed, and may he bless you, my King. I must take my leave now to restore our home by the rivers. Call for me whenever you require my assistance. Farewell, my friend," said Sefu.

Zarda responded, "Of course, my friend! I would do it all again in a heartbeat. You have my unwavering friendship and loyalty. Travel safely, and I'll hold you to your promise. Until we meet again, Sefu."

Secrets We Hide

It had been seven months now since the flood. The land had been restored to its natural state, and every day followed the routine of work, eat, sleep, and repeat. But tonight was different. The atmosphere was peaceful among friends gathered around the warm fire pit. Zarda and Purk sat close to their partners, enjoying the cozy warmth. The young piglets, Thyron and Theena, of Purk and Hazel had grown and now played with other young animals, such as elephant calves and cheetah cubs, nearby. Zarda declared his love for Natia during the treacherous floods on Mount Sabyinyo. It was the perfect moment for them to make their relationship official, all the kingdoms rejoiced at the news. They were relieved to finally acknowledge their feelings for each other. The couple spent many nights socializing with friends, and one particular night, they were joined by King Mosiya, Queen Ajanta, King Mapoza, King Jata, Queen Olivian, and King Jarvius. Jarvius was especially pleased to see his daughter and Zarda together. During the gathering around the bonfire, Natia had some exciting news to share with everyone, but old Queen Saharrah had not arrived yet.

The new young queen was feeling frustrated as she scanned the area for the old queen. She turned to Zarda and inquired, "Do you know where your mother is?"

Unconcerned himself, he satisfied his queen by participating in the search. He surveyed the surroundings but could not find any sign of her. He leaned back with his arms around his queen, feeling at ease. The elephant queen observed the two of them searching for someone significant.

"Could I be of assistance in finding whom you seek?" Ajanta offered, directing their attention towards the elephant queen.

"We are looking for my mother. My bride and I have good news and would like her to be with us," he responded. The elephant queen smiled brightly.

Ajanta responded, "I know where she was and possibly still is. I saw her with Queen Torlia strolling near the gardens."

It was completely logical, especially since the piglets were born. Those two have been joined at the hip.

King Jarvius was now listening more attentively. The mention of Queen Saharrah's name caused his eyes to light up. He found himself sitting up straighter and paying closer attention to conversations involving her. It was no secret that since Jarvius gave their daughter away to Zarda, he and Queen Lilith had been struggling. Queen Lilith was becoming increasingly ill, with anger and worry taking a toll on her health. It seemed that all the black magic had finally caught up with her, slowly consuming her from the inside out. Her once black skin was fading to gray, her eyes turning from bright to a pale white as she began to lose her sight. It was only a matter of time before she, too, would depart from this world like those before her. Queen Lilith desired nothing more than death. She loathed her physical form, her existence, her King, and even her own daughter. Lilith remained by her bedside, having lost all will to live. She alone knew Natia's secret, which sickened her, leading to a desire to distance herself from her daughter. Disappointment filled Lilith as her motherly affection turned to hatred, crushing Natia's spirit. Even though she longed for her mother's support during trying times, Queen Saharrah's love made up for her biological mother's absence. Natia was left shattered by her mother's animosity, forcing her to find happiness despite the rejection.

Natia stood patiently by the comforting warmth of the fire, anticipating the arrival of the two elderly queens. The small group of friends exchanged jokes and reminisced about past events, while Zarda and Purk exchanged tips on hunting. The queens engaged in casual conversation about the drama of the kingdom and its upkeep. Eventually, Natia's wish was granted as the two queens approached, sharing laughter and linking arms. Over time, Saharrah and Torlia had developed a strong bond and had become great companions. Saharrah, who had no king, lover, or grand cubs, cherished her friendship with Torlia. Saharrah exuded beauty, with a constant smile on her face, silky gray hair, and bright, youthful blue eyes. As she caught the eye of Jarvius watching her with a smile, she maintained her composure and continued following Torlia, joining her son and Hazel. Jarvius kept a close eye on Saharrah, attempting to remain inconspicuous. He nervously fidgeted with his fingers. Natia also observed Saharrah as she seated herself and settled in comfortably. Standing up, Natia raised her hands to quiet the group. Zarda gazed up at his beloved queen.

Natia timidly admitted, "I have been waiting for the perfect moment to share this secret. Now seems like the right time, more than ever. As you already know, Zarda has chosen me as his queen. I have cherished every moment with him and his family. However, there is something I need to confess."

Zarda was becoming worried. What secret could she have? Was she about to announce her departure? He quickly stood up and wrapped his arms around hers. She looked into his eyes and smiled softly. Natia stopped and looked around at the faces before slowly announcing, "I have some exciting news - I'm pregnant! Surprise! We're going to have a baby."

Zarda was shocked at first, but then a huge smile if relief spread across his face. Natia had kept this secret from him, and he had thought she was going to announce her new position in the kingdom. However, the news she had to share was even better. Overcome with joy, he pulled her into a tight embrace. Zarda was thrilled to hear It, he was also relief to discover that it was good news after all. Queen Saharrah wept tears of happiness, while her friend Torlia hugged her tightly. The crowd cheered for the couple's happy news, and King Jarvius was both delighted and astonished. Like everyone else, he was overwhelmed with happiness and tears of joy.

Purk said, "It's finally time, my old friend. There's no feeling quite like holding your little one for the first time."

He rose to his feet and embraced both Zarda and Natia. Soon, everyone else followed suit, surrounding them with love. It was finally coming to fruition. The dream of being parents would come to past. Zarda was still a bit shocked to imagine he had been successful in enduring his futures legacy. Now, that they were hybrid he was curious to know if the generational blessing of the white lion was to carry on or had that all ended with his rule on the throne. As everyone around him carried on in delightful talk, Zarda's mind faded away to higher spaces. He begun to pray to Elohim quietly within, so not to disrupt the others. Stepping back and watching everyone surround Natia with love, he questioned the master about the concern he had.

"Master, has the line of the White Mane heir come to a close? I'm eager to learn if my bride will have three more healthy pregnancies, and whether the fourth child will be like me. Will he take my place as ruler, or has everything reached its conclusion, with the next son being destined for the throne, no matter his skin tone?" Zarda inquired.

It had been some time since he last contacted his Master, and he found himself wondering whether he would receive a response. His faith was being put to the test, and he was struggling to meet the challenge. Thankfully, he heard a response calling down to him.

"Zarda, it's wonderful to hear from you! You should reach out more frequently; I truly enjoy our conversations—don't you? I sense your doubts about my creation, and I want to assure you that the blessing of the White Mane heir to the throne is steadfast. When your fourth child arrives, they will reign. You will name him Kirabo, which means 'gift from Elohim.' I hope I've given you some hope, Zarda. I look forward to speaking with you again soon," said the master.

Elohim had already known Zarda's heart was only needing his question answered, that his heart lately was not into their long conversation like in the past. Zarda was glad to hear the good news and looked forward to all his little ones to come. He didn't reply back to the master and carried on with his daily chores. He planned to keep the secret hidden in his heart from Natia. He rather enjoyed seeing her expression of surprise to good news.
