But before he could make a move, there was a beep sound. The men at the door received voice messages on their burner phones.
''Elder Miss has been spotted one street away from the wedding venue. Chase her from all directions in teams of three and surround her,'' a commanding voice sounded when they played it.
Both the men looked at each other before they turned around and walked away from Ryle's room with huge strides.
Ryle closed the door, flipping the gun between his fingers as he walked towards his bed, ''So, you are the elder miss of their family?" he looked at the woman who walked out of the dark corner of his room and made her way towards him.
Daisy shook her head without hesitation, ''They took me for the wrong person and started chasing after me.''
''Why would you run if you are not the person they are looking for?"
''I don't want to get involved in their affairs in any way,'' Daisy said, her gaze briefly wandering off to her gun that had been snatched away by the man, ''Moreover, I think I am safe now since they seemed to have found the person they were looking for. I should leave now.''
''Stand right there in case my hand slips and the trigger goes off,'' Ryle lazily pointed the gun in his hand towards the woman.
Daisy halted in her tracks.
The man still had that air of languidness around him. He looked as if he could barely be bothered by anything in his vicinity. One of his legs was crossed over the other, his fingers fiddled and flipped the gun that he had snatched from Daisy's hand and his scrutinizing gaze rested on her face.
Daisy knew that she was not the one who was saved today. It was those two guards who had been adamant about inspecting Ryle's bedroom that had sustained their lives. The moment Ryle had snatched her gun, taking advantage of her absent-mindedness, her heart had skipped a beat. If not for the timely alerts that they received, then today they would probably have lost their lives.
''Woman, do you think I am dumb?" Ryle asked, amused by the sight of her eyes widening briefly before she narrowed them at him, ''Don't tell me you think I can't figure out that the dupe they were lured by was planted by you in the first place. You are the real person they are looking for.''
Daisy remained silent. What Ryle said was true. She had hired a con to pretend to be her to create a diversion when people started looking for her. Because the Chen Family had a huge security team. With all of them chasing after her, it would be close to impossible for her to run away without getting caught.
She did not have to acknowledge his words for Ryle to understand that he had hit the nail on the right place. He had just planned to take a shower and sleep while his men hunted Dexter down. However, the universe seemed to have found it too uninteresting for his life so there came some drama.
''Even if it's true, what has it got to do with you?" Daisy pursed her lips, ''It's none of your business who I am or who they are looking for.''
Ryle chuckled, sounding amused, ''I can barely be concerned about these things but the matter here, missy, is the fact that you barged into my room, crashed into my arms, held me at gunpoint, and threatened me to lie for you,'' he stated casually, ''So that rightfully leaves me with a grudge that I should settle with you, am I right?"
"What do you want?"
''For the grudge to settle, there are two ways—first, I throw you back to the clutches of whatever people you are escaping from, and second,'' Ryle's gaze scanned her from head to toe, ''You find a way to make it up to the mental strain that I have gone through.''
Daisy could see the evident intention in his eyes. She knew what he was suggesting.
"What? You can't think suddenly now?" Ryle mocked, ''I did not see you being hesitant when aimed this little thing at me,'' he looked at the gun in his hand.
"But don't worry. If you can't decide for yourself, I can help you in doing that.''
''I…'' Daisy sucked in a deep breath and stepped towards him, ''...can't afford to go back to the people I escaped from.''
Ryle stiffened when she pressed her knee on the bed, right next to his thighs. He watched as her fingers reached out to unbutton her dress, giving a slight view of her milky skin in the process.
He did not do women this randomly nor did he have any designs on the woman in front of him. He had just tried to scare her so she regretted her actions of threatening him. She seemed to be in disguise but if his calculations were right, then she was the woman that those people were looking for. And for one, most of the young misses of wealthy families he had seen were prim and proper, never this bold.
''So, I can only choose to pay you back in this manner,'' Daisy unbuttoned her dress slowly, revealing her body to the man who was sitting on the bed.
Ryle's breath hitched. Behind the plain solid dress, the woman was wearing a beige lacy bra that hugged her ample breasts tightly. As the dress hung loosely around her hips, he could see her curves disappearing under them. The expanse of her smooth skin was somehow very enticing.
Daisy extended her hand, putting it on his shoulder as she leaned closer to him, her chest grazing his chin slightly before they maintained a few inches distance from it.
Ryle tilted his gaze and met the woman's eyes. He could see the clear hesitation in her eyes as she slowly lowered her head and brought her face closer to his.
