Aww!!! Mariel coughed up blood again, but this time she felt much better because Elizabeth had used her advanced healing magic to adjust the flow of Qi in her body to return to normal in time. The light and dark magic no longer resisted each other and gradually flowed together with the other elemental magic lines in her body.
"Phew…" Elizabeth sighed in relief after saving Mariel just in time.
"Good job, Eli." Hector praised her, patting his assistant on the shoulder.
"You fought without thinking, it was too risk for your life. It's lucky that you were alive, otherwise you might have been reborn again." Elizabeth complained.
"I'm so sorry." Mariel slowly stood up and bowed in apology.
"But… I admire you. Your magic power is completely lower than Lord Dark. If you drag it out any longer, you might lose because your energy will run out first. Even though we are ready to take care of you by then, your personality definitely doesn't want that to happen. Even though you chose to do something risky like this, at least your wits are good… But I warn you that next time, you might not be so lucky. So don't do anything risky like this again." Elizabeth advised.
"I won't do anything risky like this again. I'm sorry." Mariel replied.
"Alright, let's explore the small rooms in this hall again. Maybe we'll find some remaining demons or other survivors, so we can help them." Hector said.
"Then I will bring other professors to help and go out to investigate again outside in case that there are any demons left up there." Vidas suggested another idea.
"I'll bother you, Vidas." Hector said.
Vidas quickly warped to the top of the building and headed straight to the main building to tell others about the situation. Mariel had recovered about 20 percent of her health, and her injuries had been reduced by more than half, so she volunteered to help Hector and Elizabeth explore the small rooms below this place too.
They helped look at the small rooms along the various intersections and found that there were no demonic creatures or humans left. However, there were still three small intersections at the end that had not yet been fully explored.
"I'll go to the left, Eli goes to the right, and Mariel go to the front instead." Hector said.
"Ok!" Mariel and Elizabeth replied, then they went their separate ways to explore small rooms.
Mariel walked into the deeper place, which is darker and picking up a torch that had fallen to the ground and casting a fire spell to increase the brightness of her exploration.
"There's a small cell at the end. I can hear someone breathing." Mariel said.
The sound of his breathing gradually became clearer until Mariel could see that inside the small cell, there was a body that seemed to have his two hands, and two feet tightly bound in chains. This person's body was thin, covered in wounds and blood. The wounds on his body looked like they had been whipped with a whip or other weapons, causing gaping wounds all over. As Mariel walked closer, she found that this person was someone she had just met at the arena before.
"CHAOS!!!" Mariel shouted with joy, but she also felt sorry for him when she saw his condition. Chaos was sitting with his head down, not looking up at her.
Mariel quickly used her magic power to break the chains that bound Chaos' hands and legs, breaking them all. However, when Mariel rushed to support Chaos' body.
Suddenly, Chaos gave Mariel a red, hateful eye and used his right hand to slam a powerful bolt of dark magic into her stomach.
Scorching!!!!
Ahh… Mariel cried out in pain. The intensity of the dark magic from Chaos caused Mariel's body to retreat far from the cell, while Chaos followed closely behind, preparing to attack her non-stop.
"Stop! Chaos! I'm not here to hurt you, Ouch!!!!" Mariel tried to explain but was punched in the face, almost breaking her nose. Blood kept coming out of her nose and her mouth was also bleeding.
"Because of you, I have become like this!" Chaos said angrily as he threw his third punch against her.
Mariel saw that things were not good and quickly used both hands to block the attack on her chest. However, the force of the attack caused her body to be injured again after she had just recovered.
"Why are you doing this to me?" Mariel said as she summoned the Dragon Slayer Sword.
"Kill!" Chaos, who was in berserk mode, transformed into a black wolf once again.
The two people fiercely attacked each other like sworn enemies or was it because of the previous battle in the arena that had made Chaos unable to accept his defeat, and wanted to take revenge this time?
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Both sides charged at each other with no one willing to give in, causing the stone walls around the cell to shatter. Mariel quickly used up her dark magic power to the utmost and gathered it into the Dragon Slayer Sword.
"If you won't listen to me, then take this!" Mariel shouted as she stabbed the Dragon Slayer Sword, filled with dark magic power, into the center of the black wolf Chaos's stomach.
"Ouch!!!" Chaos gritted his teeth in pain because the sword had pierced through his stomach, causing blood to spurt out. However, he used his left hand to hold onto the sword to prevent it from piercing any deeper, while using his right hand to grab Mariel's neck and squeeze it with resentment.
"Ouch!!!" Mariel started to suffocate from being strangled, but she still tried to stab her sword into Chaos's stomach even more.
"Because of you… my life is all over!" Chaos shouted in anger.
"Your life… there's something more precious than that… why are you become to the dark side?" Mariel asked with curiosity.
Mariel suddenly becomes aware of Chaos's memories because their dark magic powers are strangely connected.
Suddenly, Mariel seemed to sink into a dark dimension. The pitch-black image gradually became brighter, until her soul fell into a small village at night.
"W-Where is this place?" Mariel said as she looked around her surroundings. She found that this place looked like a small village. The people lived in poverty. Everyone had a sad expression on their face, barely smiling. Everyone was emaciated, covered only with old, torn clothes.
"My wife died! It's all your fault!" a voice said from an old, dilapidated house not far from Mariel.
"Dad! I'm sorry, it hurts." a young boy cried out in pain.
"Hey, go wherever you want to go and earn me some money!" A man shouted and stomped on the child's body until it was bruised all over.
A boy of about 9 years old staggered out of the old house, exhausted and covered in bruises. His old clothes were almost torn off. His body was dirty and covered in dust. Tears flowed down his cheeks, but he didn't make a sound. There was only a soft sob. The little boy wiped his tears away to get money to give to his father who was sitting in the house and got drunk.
"Chaos?" Mariel exclaimed in shock when she got closer and saw that the boy was Chaos.
The little boy named Chaos walked around asking for money from people and food for his hunger. He walked around looking for work, anything, but no one paid him any attention. Throughout most of the day, Chaos only earned a few copper coins. Fortunately, an adult gave him a small bag of rice with a little bit of food. When he returned home, his father hit him, he took the money and the bag of rice to eat all by himself.
"Dad... I'm hungry..." Chaos cried out in hunger, clutching his stomach, which kept growling.
"That's your problem! Go find some for yourself. You shouldn't have been born. Go away!" the father said harshly, then continued drinking and didn't care about his son at all.
Chaos was so hungry that he could barely stand. His body slowly fell to the dirt and dusty floor. The tears that had almost dried on both cheeks were very shocking to Mariel.
"Mom...Where are you? I miss you..." The little boy said before falling asleep with hunger.
Mariel, who was just a spirit, felt very sad for him. She slowly walked over and sat down beside Chaos, stroking his head with her hands, feeling sorry for his poor life.
"Why is your life so cruel? Just like mine…" Mariel said with tears streaming down her face.
Then the scene cuts to the front of the village, where Chaos' father is greedily counting bags of money, while Chaos's hands are tied tightly with ropes, making him unable to move. In front of Chaos is a middle-aged man who looks like a bad guy and has a hard gaze staring at Chaos unfriendlily.
"Thank you very much!" Chaos' father said happily.
"From now on, your son is my slave. Go!" the middle-aged man ordered Chaos to get into the waiting carriage. Chaos tried to turn back to look at his father as a final plea, but what he saw was that his father didn't care anymore and turned around to walk back home with the bag of money.
Chaos's life after that was that of a slave on a large cargo ship who was beaten, abused, and ordered to work almost 24 hours a day without getting a full night's sleep. Even though he was given rice to eat, it was barely enough to fill his stomach. He could only eat one meal a day in the morning. At other times, he could only wait for scraps of food from others, which hardly ever reached him because they were all eaten by other slaves.
The child was forced into slave labor for many years until he grew up skinny, his body did not grow as tall as he should be, his body was covered in bruises, his muscles were so hurt but he was still whipped to carry the luggage and clean the boat, including having to control the large oars to sail the boat on the ocean like everyone else.
Until one day, the ship stopped at a port not far from the capital. Chaos waited for the opportunity while the other guards were checking the goods and didn't pay attention to him who was unloading sacks of rice from the ship like the other slaves. Chaos saw the opportunity and quickly threw sacks of rice onto the ground and ran away with all his energy to escape from this hell.
"Hey! Where are you running to? Catch him quickly!" One of the guards quickly ordered the others to catch Chaos.
But Chaos used his last strength to dodge from the other guards and escape into the capital city, hiding under the old table in a dark corner of the market. The guards who followed him split up to search for him, but in the end, they didn't find him and only shouted at him in anger before heading back to the ship.
Chaos, who was lying exhausted under the table, sighed in relief from exhaustion. But someone approached him. Even though he could feel the danger approaching, he had no strength to run away. He could only close his eyes and try to hide as deep as he could.
"Don't be afraid, I'm not a person on that ship." someone said. It was Lord Dark.
"Please don't bring me back to them. I'm scared." Chaos begged tearfully as he knelt down and begged Lord Dark.
"You really have a lot of anger in your heart. I can see your memories." Lord Dark looked at Chaos with a terrifying smile on his lips.
"I hate my father, I hate everyone, I hate everything!" Chaos shouted angrily.
"Come with me, you will surely get revenge on those people." Lord Dark said.
"Anything, I'll give you anything, as long as I get my revenge." Chaos said as he tried to hug Lord Dark's leg tightly.
Lord Dark brought Chaos back to the residence behind the school, nurtured Chaos to regain his health, taught him dark magic and brought him into the demon group under this club. Chaos, who gave his body and mind to the demon power until his body was almost completely controlled, felt very satisfied. Next few years, he returned to the village and killed everyone, then he waited for the ship of the middle-aged man who had bought him as a slave to dock again. At night, he secretly assassinated him and succeeded, no one was able to catch him.
Lord Dark and the people in this demon group were aware of Chaos's cruelty, so they taught the Black Wolf Form to him and sent him to compete in the previous tournament, where he met Mariel. Then the scene was cut off immediately.
Mariel regained consciousness, tears streaming down both of her cheeks unconsciously, and her neck was still tightly gripped by Chaos' right hand who wouldn't let her go.
"You saw my past memories. You were lucky to be born into a loving family. What's about me? What did I do wrong to be born like this? All of you will die and the demons will rule this world!" Chaos said.
"I understood your feeling, Chaos." Mariel said with a sympathetic look in her eyes.
"Liar! How did you understand my feeling?" Chaos shouted back.
"Then look into my eyes and see my past life for yourself." Mariel said, gazing at Chaos, who could see the past life of her.
Chaos saw the memories of Mariel, a boy named Chai from his previous life. A child who lost his parents, living in an orphanage and being bullied by other children who were bigger than him. When he grew up, he had to find work with difficulty. Each month, he barely had enough to eat until his body became thin and unsuitable for his age. All these memories reflected into Chaos's mind until he stopped strangling Mariel for a moment.
"W-what… why… did you got a poor life like me?" Chaos asked.
"My previous life was not much different from yours, but your life was much more cruel than mine. Please… there is still a bright future ahead of us. Don't let evil take over your body anymore." Mariel pleaded sincerely.
Chaos looked into Mariel's eyes and seemed to have realized something. However, something unusual happened.
Aaaaahhhhhhh!!!
Chaos cried out in pain, his eyes switching black and white, his body becoming unresponsive to his commands, and he began to strangle Mariel even harder.
"Chaos! Calm down." Mariel tried to plead.
"Help me! The demonic power in my body... is eating away at my soul..." Chaos said. Suddenly, he transformed into a different person and glared at Mariel with rage.
"You will die with this child, Lol!" Chaos, who was on the verge of complete mind control had shouted.
"Chaos…" Mariel tried to increase her resistance power but was starting to lose her ability to withstand Chaos's strangulation.
"Mariel… please… kill me…" Chaos, who had regained consciousness, begged her with pleading eyes.
"Chaos… No… We have to survive together. Fight with it!" Mariel said.
"I can't take it anymore… My soul is about to be destroyed by the demonic power in my body… Please… I can't take it anymore…" Chaos pleaded for the last time before his eyes were about to turn pitch black. The demonic power in his body was about to completely take over his body.
Mariel gathered all the light magic power in her body into the Dragon Slayer Sword and prepared for her final attack.
"Mariel, I beg you… Please!!!!" Chaos said for the last time before his eyes turned completely black. His soul had been completely devoured by the demon.
"CHAOS!!!!!!!!" Mariel shouted with tears as she shot light magic power into Chaos' body, causing light to spread throughout the area.
Scorching!!!!
The destructive power of the light spell caused Chaos's body to disintegrate. The loud noise made Hector and Elizabeth, who were on the other side, rush over here in panic.
"W-What happened, Mariel?" Hector said after arriving with Elizabeth.
"*Sob*… Chaos… I'm sorry." Mariel kneeled, crying with tears. In her arms, she held Chaos' head. The light magic power destroyed Chaos' body along with the demons that were hidden in his body, leaving only the lifeless head.
Since then, the school has ordered the Dark Magic Club to be shut down completely. The situation has returned to normal. Vidas had increased more security and provided more comprehensive care. Many people who were in this, chose not to say the details because it would cause too much panic among the people, and instead managed it secretly internally.
On the grassy hill behind the capital to the north, Mariel stood in front of the grave where Chaos' head was buried. All her friends and professors were mourning Chaos' death behind her. Mariel slowly placed a bouquet of flowers in front of the grave with a sorrowful expression on her face, and then everyone returned to the capital city together.
Mariel, who was walking back, slowly turned back to look at the grave again and said, "See you again, Chaos."
