Chereads / Reverie Of The Draconic Blade / Chapter 2 - Awakening

Chapter 2 - Awakening

Cedric wondered if he was in heaven or hell, or anything at all. He hoped he was in heaven at least. Well sure, he was no saint, but he wasn't a demon or something either. In fact, had even donated to charity a few times. And, what about how he always made sure to compliment his friends? And... And....

After Cedric's mind finally calmed, he realized something odd about his environment. What was with this tight and confined space? It's so stuffy! Is this hell or something? He pushed his body against one end of the wall and shoved his legs at the other side. It's sturdy!

Cedric continued to push hard. Nothing happened. After a while, he started to panic. Cedric started to thrash around, banging his claws at anything he could reach. Wait... CLAWS? No, I'm definitely hallicunating! Let's get out first!

As Cedric continued to thrash around, he heard a crack. It's working! Cedric swiftly began to work away at the not-so formidable wall with renewed vigour.

Light started to spill in as a side of the wall was slowly but surely, being whittled down by Cedric. He quickly dragged himself out, before collapsing onto the cold stone floor, taking in the cool morning air in deep breaths.

Jeez, what the hell was that?

Cedric turned around to look at his former prison proudly, ready to demolish it once and for all. AN EGG?!?!? Did I... reincarnate into a lizard or something?

"Not quite a lizard, but yes, you did reincarnate my dear Cedric", an alluring voice travelled into his ears from behind. Cedric whipped his head around. For some reason, when he saw her alluring figure, Cedric felt an unexplicable sense of warmth, and instinctually knew who she was, even though it felt seemingly impossible. Mother?

"Yup!"

WAIT.... is she reading my mind?

"Hehe, as if I, Seraphina the Black Scourge, as well your mother, wouldn't be able to read your mind!"

Seraphina the- wa wah what?

As he quickly processed the new information he was getting in his head, he deduced that this new mother of his definitely had something to do with his situation. "Uhm.... mo-ther? What am I, and how did I end up as your son?"

"Hmmm... well....I liked the spirit you showed and decided it'd be a waste of a talent if you just died like that, but the inside of your body was already essentially mush, so I just decided to make you my one and only son! Hehe... Oh! And since I'm a dragon of death, of course you are one too!". She responded joyfully.

So what, I am a dragon with death powers, and I have a mother that's powerful enough to transmute souls as she pleases?? Heh, what apocalypse? Not scared. At. ALL! I have a formidable mother to protect me!

Cedric instantly started to become restless with excitement while thinking about his future plans. Maybe he'd pay his friends a visit? Nah, if he ran into them, then he'd give them a 'greeting', but there was no point in searching for those people. He quickly tried to stand up only to stumble over, landing on his face.

"Oh my, you shouldn't move around so much, you only just awoke! And you also need to digest your inheritance memories!"

As if Seraphina's chiding was the key that unlocked the floodgates, Cedric immediately felt a sharp pain erupt as memories started to flood into his head, before he collapsed in a heap, asleep with the exhaustion from absorbing information and breaking out of his egg.

Seraphina stared at the sleeping Cedric for a second, before breaking out into a smile, and transforming back into a dragon.

And so, if anyone passed, they would see the comical scene of a massive black dragon, with a terrifying aura of death circulating around it, carefully picking up a tiny dragon with her mouth.
