Cities, no matter the country, or continent, were often all built similarly. Something about people being people, infusing their essence into the world that they lived in until it reflected them.
There was the glitz and glamour side, where everything sparkled and shone. Every single surface glinting like it was under the sun. That was the side that drew people in. The side that had them abandoning their friends and families in search of glory. But in every city, there was another side. A side that people did not like to think about, let alone talk about it.
