Go back a few months, to when Elle was just a dancer sleeping with the boss all over the club and the ruse would not have worked. But Elle had been running the club for a while now, with Gio slowly pulling back, only ever showing up when necessary. So no one questioned it when the day after the incident( which they knew nothing about) Elle showed up for work and Gio was nowhere in sight.
She would have loved to leave it at that, and just bury her head in the sand. But there were no secrets in the streets, and judging from the looks she got at the end of the shift, news of Gio being in hospital had already started to filter in.
Rather than let it build and fester into an uncontrollable gossip tree, Elle decided to nip it in the bud. When the club closed down she called a meeting, and she could see from the way every single person was there on time that they were all curious what was going on.
